These people called me repeatedly telling me that I owed $165.15 for the cancellation fee of a pay day loan I never received. I sent it to them using a vanilla reload network because they told me I was going to be arrested. The next week they called me again saying I owed another $165.15. I was about to send it to them again but I saw this website. They have all of my information, including my bank account number.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

I received a phone call from a lawyers office saying that i owed a past due loan of 741 dollars and that I needed to pay.I told the so called lawyer name Brandon that did not owe no loan and he told me if I didn't. Pay that he was going to file papers with the Houston courts and that I would be picked up by the police at my house or my job. So I asked for the Creditors name and he told me are you crazy and that he couldnt tell me who the creditor was until I pay. So I payed the 741 dollars. When I called to let Brandon know I payed the money, he said that he would call me back once he had a confirmation number.  He called me back and gave me a number and then told me that my case was closed. Two hours later I received a call from the Los Angeles police department saying that my money was rejected and that I owed 1300 dollars and if I didn't. Pay they were going to file papers again.  I hung up the phone and I tried calling the Los Angeles police department. Please tell me or help me prosecute these criminals to the fullest.

I just received several calls from this number... I have tried on several occassions to ask what this was in reference to and they hang up. They threatened that there is a warrant for my arrest, and the sheriff would be coming to myjob to arrest me.  Why doesnt anyone do something about these people.  I am at work, trying to support my family and these people have nothing better to do than harass people.

My coworker kept getting these calls stating she was going to be arrested and sent back to California (to which she had never been).  Knowing this was a scam, I decided to ruin their day, and I encourage you to do the same.  
Call them back.  Ask them where they are from.  When they answer, KY, mention that you are from there too, and their accent is a little funny.  They will put you on hold.  Hang up.  

Call right back.  Tell them you are an attorney.  They will ask for your attorney number then call you a fake a** attorney and hang up on you.

Call right back.  Tell them to stay on the line for two minutes becuase the police are tracking them.  They will put you on hold.  Hang up

Call right back.  Tell them you now have our International trackers on the phone.  They will put you on hold.  Hang up

Call again... get a busy singal from here on out.  Never worry about those calls again!

I have been receiving calls on my cell phone from a John Marshall from Collins and Baker Paralegal stating that I owe them money and they are taking me to court.  I have never received a loan from this company. They stated they would be serving me paperwork next week regarding a lawsuit

My call was from "Harry Wilson" but he sure did have a hard time saying it.... "H-h-h-haaarry Wilson" and the rest of his message was hard to understand too, but he also signed off wishing me luck as the situation unfolds. (Insert eye roll @@ here). No idea why they are calling me, I have no outstanding loans in my name, never have, except my car.

I just recieved a call from a TRAVIS HALL, with a thick accent that I could barley understand, stating that I was in serious trouble and he wished me great luck. He proceded to tell me that if I cooperated he would do all he could in his power to hold off the authorities from coming to my place of employment and arresting me. He said I owed $986.16 plus a $300 processing fee for an unpaid pay day loan. I found this very alarming since i've never recieved a payday loan.. When I started asking questions Travis just kept repeating "It's in your best interest to cooperate. you really don't want to sit in jail"  This company is a big joke   I filed a complaint with the FTC and called Jefferson Police Department also like the above post.

I too received a phone call just a hour ago at my job mind you 5/16/2013 1:00 PM EST from Kentucky from Brandon Smith and transfered to a nasty Jonathan Edwards saying the same thing. I was a liar, I commited theft and that I owed get this $10,756.89 and that they would settle for $ 8,408.00 they were going to file a suit against me, and that I'd better call him back today at 4:00 today or else. Very heavy middle eastern accent (606) 824-0522. I had just gotten off the phone with the Jeffersonville Police Department and the sherriff said that she received several calls with in a 6month time span about the same company,and she searched the criminal data base (3 of them I never committed a crime) and she told me to contact the BBB Equifax Transunion ect to be sure, as well as my bank, and that to monitor my accounts because of this. BEWARE OF THESE A$$&*@S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received a phone call at my work  from a person with a thick accent that I could barly understand. He said his name is Frank Newman and calling from Collins and Baker Law Firm. He said he wanted my name of my attorny for a legal matter. I told him if he called me again at my work that I would call the police and report him.

my sister just received a call from this number. It was a woman with a weird accent( possibly Haiti). she told her there was a criminal case filed against her and wanted her to give them her personal info. She freaked out  and hung up the phone so i did some online research about this # and came across this page. Knowing it was all a scam, thanks to this page, i had her call them back just to see if they had her social security # and they did. She is now going to report this to the local social security office.

Called me 6 times within a 6 min time frame. David Foster has middle eastern accent.

I got a message on my cell phone telling me "do not disregard this message, Call me back immediately or I wish you luck on whats about to unfold in your life".  I called the number and a guy with a thick indian accent said he was John Marshall (yeah, right), and he was the paralegal for Collins and Baker Attorney Firm in KY.  He said I never repaid a payday loan of $500 to Cash America and now I was being sued.  If I didnt pay $562 by tonight, I would be arrested.  I told him that I needed some documents to review and if I, in fact, owed them money, I would pay it.  (Knowing I didnt owe any payday company).  He said he had no choice but to have the documents delivered to my place of work by an officer who would arrest me on Friday at 11:30am.  (Like the police would ever tell a suspect what time and where they would be to arrest them....like a true criminal would stick around for it? LOL)  I knew it was a scam!  I said "thats fine, have them come to my work, and we hung up.  
What scares me, is that he had my social security number, name, Name of my work, and bank acct information.  I will file a report.  I already put an alert with the credit bureaus.

I receive calls from this number every day on my cell phone and have received them twice at work. The first time they told me I was going to be arrested within 3 hours and the second said that it was within 1 hour. I don't even have loans! I am filing an FTC Report but, as far as I can see from this blog, nothing is being done! My employer is extremely annoyed because I got into it with these people on the job due to my extreme frustration and their ignorance. The second man that called said his name was CHARLES COLLINS. He left me a voice-mail on my phone and said that my attorney needed to call him and that he wished me luck based on the situation that was unfolding. I just want to find these people and hit them in the face with a hammer. I work for an attorney so I told him that and he still continues to harass me. I don't know what else to do but keep filing reports that will get me nowhere.

I received a call at my job indicating that charges have been filed against me and legal documents are on their way to my job.  I stopped the caller as he was speaking and asked him a series of questions!

He started stumbling and rambling.  I told him that I know this was a fraudulent call and that I have already filed an official police affedavit with the local and federal authorites. Before I finished, he hung up.

I researched this company name on the internet and come to this blog.  I called the office back and let them know that I know this was fraud and I have already passed their information on to the authorities.  Before I could finish what I was saying they hung up!

I just recieved a call from a foreign guy name Austin black from 606-824-0522. He said I owed a complany by the name of American Cash and he workers for collins and Baker Legal Assoicates. He said I owed $720.52. I do not have any loans with American Cash nor do I owe these guys anything.

they called my dad quite a few times, they said he would be going to the court house and be put in jail for 67 years. My dad has proof from the bank he does not owe anything these men have accents and when i tried yelling at them or giving them reasons they would not let me speak and when i told them i have an attorney they said "ok bye" like what? they just want the money, i told him i would not pay and he said i didnt have too but that my dad would be picked up/

This company called my work place and threatened to arrest me but couldn't tell me why. I called them back a few times just to piss them off because I knew they were scammers. Also they try to say you are going to get arrested and get really mad once you say you are going to call the police. If this number calls you don't worry just be rude and say the police is tracking them. They won't call you again. I spoke to a John Gouldman  but he was Indian.

Yes!! these people are trying to scam you. i agree don't give them any info. Tell them when they call that you are going to go to the police and report them. They will hang up once you mention police. Don't believe them!!!

This is an Indian payday loan scam.  Do not pay any money or give them any information.  They threaten to arrest you but they can barely speak english.so do not take them seriously.

I just got a call from this number and they said i would be picked up the guy also had an accent. I told them they had the wrong person and they said that if i was not telling the truth i would be picked up.

I got 2 calls from that number claimed he was a police officer and he was going to make my life miserable he also had an accent
