They are a market research company called WBA Research. The policy is to only leave messages every other time we call so as to not fill up peoples answering machines. More information can be found at www.wbaresearch.com and clicking on Contacted for a Survey. As an interviewer just making enough spending money until I graduate college, I and my co-workers don't want to bother you!!! We just call the numbers our supervisors put in the computer. In fact, if you call this number back, you can give a supervisor who answers your opinions of them and their practices. Or, if you pick up, tell us that you want to be added onto the offices internal do not call list if you never want to be contacted for any survey we do again. Otherwise, we have to make 4-6 attempts to call you, and hanging up on us means we have to put "hang up" and try back. It is important research they do, but it should be up to you, the consumer, to decide if you want to participate.

market research firms are exempt from do not call lists so legal action cannot be taken against them. Most of the time it is the companies you do business with who contract the researchers to do the dirty work of picking the brains of the consumers in order to offer you a better product or service. For school studies it is usually funded by a foundation who wants to know why people make the decisions they do to go to college. I don't know why everyone is so paranoid. If you research WB&A you will see that it actually is a marketing research firm. They don't ask questions to try to coax you into buying products or anything they just want your opinions most of the time. As consumers you should give them so that companies can improve

WB & A is apparently a phone survey company doing business mainly in Maryland, but also elsewhere. You can Google them. This particular number is in Ithica, NY, and the caller could barely speak English. This company is apparently hired to do all sorts of survey calls, including an impressive list of clients. Survey calls do not fall under the restrictions of the Do Not Call List, unfortunately.

They have called twice, never left a message. Same number, 6073305300.
I missed both calls but now I do not care that I did.

Received call but I didn't answer since I didn't recognize the name (WB & A).
No message was left. They are not observing the Do Not Call List!

They have called me about ten times. I think they may have gotten my number from collegeboard.com or the princeton review. Not sure though. Those are the only two college sites I have used for research but I haven't applied to colleges yet so I don't think it was one for that reason.

They just called my teneager who was naive enough to tell them how much she got in college scholarships and how much I was making.

Sanders, I thought exactly the same thing and freaked out thinking it was one of the schools, that's the only reason I didn't hang up on them. Where did you apply?
| sanders 2008-02-28 02:15:23 Survey |
Called about schools (I am planning to attend college next fall). Refused to reveal who was sponsoring the call - sketchy. Especially since they were calling about colleges and acceptance letters are mailed about a month from now. I wonder if it's a college that i'm applying to... it makes me nervous that I answered the questions. Anyone else get a similar call? Said they got my address from SAT's - but the address was different than the one I gave there - should have called them on it.

Call and never leave a message. I have been on the do not call list for months. I still get these calls. How can I take legal action?

Got this call on 10/01 on my cell and called it back. It's a public research firm. I asked to be taken off their call list and they had sort of a "Whatever" attitude. I told them I'm on the Do-Not-Call list, and even though it doesn't apply to them, they could at least reference the list and not call the people WHO DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED.

Called me as well. Believe they also called my wife. Likely a research firm for those preparing to go to law school (or at least that's what they asked my wife about).
