FYI the same man has called back and now says that my husband has 4 criminal charges against hime. Again did not have correct information for my husband. Again asked my husband to verify information so he could 'straighten it out'. And again my husband told him to go ...... himself. He hasn't called back since.

The same thing just happened to me today. I have received a phone call from the number listed above. A dirt bag named ronnie cooper called my phone claiming to be an attorney and stated that I was being sued for fraud in the state of New York. He failed to realize that I am a State Law Enforcement officer in Florida. Had he checked the information that he had stolen, he would have known that I was employed as a law enforcement officer. Needless to say this is a scam and is going to be investigated to its fullest extent. I sure hope the moron reads this.

I just got the same call but from Jeff Parker wanting to talk to my husband. He already called once today and left a message "If you do not respond to this time sensitive matter I can only wish you good luck as things unfold upon you." Said he was from a law firm and would not tell me anything about the 'matter at hand'. I told him that if he was a ligit law firm and I was in fact being sued or whatever why havn't I or my husband been served with papers. He got really nasty with me and told me that they were gonna take my cars and house from me. I told him that if he really knew what he was talking about he would know that we rent. I have had this happen before and it was the same thing. They are hacking email. I do some business online and get emails confirming transactions and such. He had the wrong account number, my husbands name with the wrong DOB and SSN, and the name of the company that I did business with was wrong. He said 'oh, well I deal with so many sometimes I get confused' then proceeded to ask my husband to correct all of the info including SSN and such. My husband told him to...........go fly a kite. He called back like 6 times in a row and my husband just started messing with him. He eventually stopped calling. I contacted the real company directly and they said that it happens all the time. She instructed me to call the number he gave me and that it would probably already be disconnected. She was right. The number that was his 'direct line at the law firm' was no longer taking calls. It said there was an error and my call could not go thru. FYI they will also send false emails asking you to contact them at some random number. Most business emails include customer service email, 800 number, and a address that you can write to if you have any questions. Their emails do not include all of that info. They also never ask you to verify any information in a call or email. Usally you have to go directly to their website and log into your account, or you have to initiate contact via a customer service number. Also, if you ever need to make a payment to an old account you can always request something on company letter head that says you owe such and such please pay using these methods....Hope this helps someone. Oh yeah, if you are gonna get sued you get served with paperwork. Not some idiot wanting money to make the situation go away.

Person with foreign accent called saying he was from some sort of agency that I never heard of.  Wanted to confirm my name and when I did he said that there was "an affidavit filed against me" and did I have a lawyer.  I am a lawyer and know that that is gibbberish.  I tried to get additional info from him and all he would say to me was to call a ronnie cooper and gave me the above phone number.  I asked him what this was about and he said, "What, you haven't received a copy?  This is serious.  You better call right away."  I asked him where the phone was located and he just shined me on and told me I had better call.  I said I would and he hung up.

I then called the number and it is an answering service and said that the box was completely full and hung up.  I found out that the number is in Southern New York State and probably in Elmira.  I went to the New York Bar and tried to locate a Ronnie, Ronald or Veronica Cooper and there is no such person.  I then went on the internet to search for a Ronnie Cooper and found that this name has been used before on many different phone numbers all using a variation of what was told to me and this has been going on for a few years.

I don't know what other info they have on me but it is worrisome.  It is a scam and the advice about reporting them is the appropriate advice to give.  Do not give them any more information about you whatsoever.  They have not called back but if they do they will get the scare of a lifetime from me.

This is a scam.  They are calling trying to scare you into making a payment over the phone of 300 dollars or more.  Making it seem as if they are going to serve you with legal documentation to go to court.  This is not true.  They received your information from an online application you may have filled out.  Do not give them any information do not pay them.  Ask them dates of when you received the loan they are saying you didnt pay back.  They will not have that information.  Tell them you reported them that you know it is a scam.  THey will not call back

THIS IS AN EXTORTION SCAM. Scammers pretend to be law enforcement (police, sheriff, Feds, AG's Office, fake cop agencies with made-up names) and may be using bought/hacked/phished loan application data to extort money or personal info for fictitious crimes.

These are scammers and once they establish contact---the calls are relentless.  They are trying to scare you into giving them money for a loan you never paid back.  Just ignore them--and report them to FBI/BBB/ITC.  If you happen to talk to them by mistake, dont give any information to them....they have hacked into a system and retrieved info such as ssn, references, contact numbers etc.  Many people have fallen victim to this scam----IGNORE THEM.
