I hope the slimeball who uses this spoof number is reading this.  Pretty sure the dooshbag got my cell # from Craigslist posting, even though he knew my first name which was not posted to the listing.  Distrusted from the get-go so I told him I'd call him right back -- naturally the number is bogus (not in service).  F*** YOU A***OLE~!

This is a New York number on my caller ID.  They're from Microsoft and the guy says he can help me get better performance because of a flaw they just discovered on all the Windows versions.

I thought Windows Updater took care of it but he said it was a "secret update" that you can't get from their website. That seemed kind of funny to me so I said I would call back.  But when I call back the number is not in service.  Hmmm...

I've heard that one person felt for it . And followed their instruction on what keys to punch on his computer . It wipe his computer blank .  So to get it back he had to pay them $80.00 . These people are persistent The best thing to do is to just hang up . .

I am fortunate that I receive Caller ID on my phone at no extra cost and I never answer the phone if I do not recognize the number. I also never respond to "Unknown Number"  If I mistakenly answer one of those calls, I do one of two things. I ask stupid questions, "Do I need to wash my car?, How many make the amount you ask for? etc. The other thing I do is ask them to wait a second, someone is at the door and set the phone down and leave it.

10/03/13 - Guy called. Said he there was an issue with my computer, that there was a virus found on it. Stated that my computer was sending out signals and that he was going to help me walk through the process of taking out the virus. (As I played, like I did not know better), He prompted me along the way.
1. Can you go to your computer?
2. Can you go to the control?
3. Can you to (Not sure what he said, sounded like he was from India).

I said yes, then he said,

4. What do you see? (I said, I see a screen)
5. Can you type this in? (I said, OK)

Then he gave me a series of alphabet letters. All mixed. Obviously access to his computer...

After 20 minutes of (Me playing dumb and dragging the conversation along), he began to say sexual things. like, "I want to #$%^& you" and I want to "Do this %^&*(" and he was whispering it. I asked him to speak louder that I could not hear him, he was above a whisper .. but would not speak very loud. I kept saying, "HUH? HUH? What ?? Poke me? What???)...

I am very angry about this caller... Please be aware!!!

Just got a call from this number, the usual computer virus story. This time I played dumb. The caller asked to go to my computer to turn it on.
To make a long story short, I told him he must be right my computer does not seem to be working. we went through 4 reboot simulations, then I told him this computer has not worked for over half a year, but my Macbook seems to be working OK.
He hung up in disgust, I finished my diner.
His time wasted, 15 minutes and 35 seconds
If we all did this, it could be considered our good deed for the day.

I just got a call from "Sam" who said he was from a Technical support company from Toronto. When I asked him questions he was getting pretty rude. I laughed nervously at one point, and he asked, "Why are yo laughing, ma'am?" which I thought was very strange. I didn't even understand him most of the time. At one time I asked him if he was calling from India, and he repeated that he was calling from the "Toronto Branch" and that he was a technicial, who was receiving reports of viruses corrupting my computer. He really sounded like he was lying. The connection was bad too, and I kept hearing other voices in the background. He was also extremely condescending. He said things like, "I have already told you two times, ma'am." Totally inappropriate. I went as far as typing the www.fastheal.com in my run window, but wouldn't click on it and told him I was not comfortable with his call and hung up. I still feel violated by this creep.

Question to all of you.....do you have Verizon? My room mate has only opened one account in this state since moving here a few weeks ago and it was with Verizon. It is the only company that has his present employer on file. The guy on the phone had his social security number, old address and present employer.....when I called the number back, they hung up on me and then the harassing calls started to me along with computer generated messages stating my bank account was frozen. I tried to explain this to Verizon and let them know the connection I am curious to know if this happened to anyone else and if everyone is Verizon customers or from different carriers. Please email fieryredmoon33@yahoo.com. Maybe if enough of us share information we can shut this crap down.

I got a call about 1 hour ago from 607-739-9799 about my internet but I don't even have internet at the number they keep calling me at, so I let them talk.  Last time they called, I again let them talk and asked them for the code they are seeing on their end at they rambled on with what seemed a 30 digit number, and in the end I told them how funny it was that they called cause I don't even have internet connection, nor a computer at the number they dialed.  The person laughed and then hung up!!!

Just got a call as well
Saying he was from windows support... I had also been getting 503-888-9650 calls where they would hang up when I answered, maybe because I answered in French those times... seeing the comments that people posted from that number were also some sort of scam about Windows reps, the easy answer was : " How can you be calling for Windows, I do not use Windows " .. followed by a hang up ... no lifes!
Now have 2 numbers that I won't be answering
607-739-9799
503-888-9799
What's the next number they'll be using?

They called me several times claiming there was a Virus on my computer that needed to be fixed. 1st time was a male with a P*** accent said he was from the Windows Service Centre. I refused and he kept on going on as if this was almost a life and death matter if it wasn't dealt with immediately. I told him to take a hike, he told me he was going to send someone at my door to kill me, and f@ck my wife. He even knew my name and home address. Second time was a female with an accent (Phillipino I think), stated she was from the Computer Maintenance Centre, and that here was a serious virus attacking my computer. I screamed at her very loud, "you F@ckin bi***, dont you f@ckin call here again,  Her ears must have been aching, because she promptly hung up on me.

Hi John,

That they wouldn't know what an IP address is or why you would be asking shows him being is a low-ranking schmuck.  Their upfront remuneration is probably based on number of "good responses".  What a way to make a buck!  I hope to never have to stoop that low.

I receive calls from 607 739 9711 along with the usual marketing calls from my bank, credit card company, and so on, businesses which are excluded from being added to our Do Not Call List by virtue of my being their customer.

Long story short, my sure-fire method to avoid these time wasters, especially at supper time, is to either glance at my phone display and let any long distance number I don't recognize go to voice mail or just let any long distance call go straight to voice mail.  The calls will dissipate within a few weeks and months, guaranteed.  Fraudsters, like all savvy marketers and shrewd businessmen, will not spend time and resources chasing a number where there is no indication of human life. And I have no doubt that one of them is reading/will read this post to glean info on how to modify their baiting techniques.

Hasta la vista, Baby!

Telephone companies need to permanently disconnect these callers. I never answer these calls but know that some do and some must get "duped" because these creeps keep repeating the same behaviours. I say, find the scum; cut out their tongues; and amputate their fingers. Or is that too little punishment?

The caller claimed to be from Microsoft Technical Support.  I told him, "No you're not." and he hung up.  The thing is, I was getting these calls repeatedly for a couple of weeks but the number was always blocked.  FTC are you checking in to this?

I'm from North Carolina, and I got a call from 607-739-9799, today. The man that called, said his name was Steve, but spoke with a accent that was hard to understand. He claimed to be from Microsoft, and that he needed to help me " repair " my computer. He then told me to turn my computer on, and go to the run box. I started to ask " Steve " questions, like what is my name, and he said he didn't have that information, but did tell me what my street address was.  He told me that he was calling from the UK, and that he needed to help me fix corrupt files on my computer.  The caller ID showed the call to be from New York, and when I ask if he was in the UK, why did the caller ID show a New York number, he became upset and then hung up.  I tried to call the number back, only to receive an error message.
