Exactly the same happened to me! I coincidentally do have some car maintenance coverage expired within a year and for a while I thought  they were calling from my dealer as they did have some correct info on my car. But at the last moment I realized what they want is to hook me  to buy their 'additional car protection' and I told them I need to do some check before I made any decisions and they got silent and no responding to my 'hello'. And I hung up my call.

It is indeed a "false-invoice" scam - they've been sending me mailings for a month or so that look like bills for service but have tiny print saying they're actually an ad. They called today and I spoke with a Max who stated they are a 3rd-party contractor who works with Honda, Toyota, Ford. He claimed to have a file on my car (had the make and year correct) that said I did not have extended coverage from when I bought the vehicle, and asked how many miles were on the car. As I actually DID purchase an extended warranty for 10 years, and only bought the car 3 years ago, clearly just a hook to get a purchase made. When I told him that, he started stammering that his file must be out of date or incorrect and he would close my file.

I didn't recognize this number so I turned off my answering machine and just let the phone ring and ring. Thanks for posting that this number is yet another scammer.

Got a call from this number, but no message.   Called it back and there was a message about automobile protection.

Called, but I did not answer. Caller ID said "Madison WI" A city and state like that are often the Medical Alert scam. They did not leave a message, so I'm not sure who they are. Other web searches have flagged this number as a scam on car warranty.

Called trying to tell me to extend my car coverage. yet they don't give a business name and no one answers when you return the call

I answered it and it was someone trying to sell me an extended warranty to a car I sold 2 years ago
