i just received a call from the Princeton group. he came across like we should know each other referencing that i had played golf in my clubs member/guest golf tournament. they had called me before with the same schtick, "we have had a corporate cancellation, they will forfeit their deposit, you can get a great deal attending the masters".

sleezy bunch!

stay away.

They are an annoyance.

Just do what I do and set the phone down when they ask for the boss. I usually play something good at a higher volume, too - Like Starland Vocal Band or Captain and Tennille.  Then I conveniently remember that I set the phone down about 3 minutes later.

They don't seem to like Starland Vocal Band or Captain and Tennille.

Having worked there I can tell you a few things:

1. The tickets are legit. The packages are expensive but they are going after Pres/ CEOs or in other words, the people who pay a lot for nice things.

2. Those receptionist claiming they should get "real jobs" might think differently when you realize they probably make twice as much as you do to do the exact same thing (sit on the phone all day). The top guys were doing well over a million in sales each year which make a conservative estimate of their total salary around 75k and probably higher.

3. Having said that, the process at the Princeton Group is a mess. They basically have 3 VPs running everything. There are three offices (Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago) with 4-5 guys each making calls all day. Each person does their own research using google and a few databases they have subscriptions for. So basically you have 12-15 looking for companies with info on their execs and phone numbers. The problem with that is everybody their knows the industries and areas that work the best for getting sales so everyone is looking for the same thing. And you often end up call people who have already been called multiple times.

4. If you are a person who would make a purchase like this, don't give them your information unless you are serious about buying from them. If you say you are interested once, you will get multiple calls a year once you are in their system.

To summarize:

The Princeton Group is a legit company selling very nice sports hospitality Packages. Their salespeople are overly aggressive because it works and they make more money than most of you complaining.

You know times are desperate when the telemarketers have enough time to call you back 10 times.  We got a call this morning from Matt Carlson.  Their tactic is to be aggressive, speak quickly and act as if it's a matter of life or death that they speak with the boss.  It must be a terrible job.  I feel sorry for them, but I still don't put them through.

Our company has been getting calls from them and asking for somebody who is no longer with the company.  I just say they're not in and don't give them any other info.

I received what must be the 10th call from this number since March 1st.  This caller is so pushy and firm, has to get in touch with the boss he hops on a plane to head south!  When the caller asked for my boss's cell phone number, I hung up on him.  He called right back asking for someone else to give him the boss's information, when I took his call again, he said he had the boss' e-mail address and would e-mail him.  Then he hung up on me. I really wish something could be done with this type of telemarketing.

Princeton Group - Keeps asking for my CEO's cell phone number. Everytime he calls in he says he's just about to jump on a flight haha. After calling him out on that saying he certainly flies a lot, he just says he's going to send the CEO an e-mail.

Some Glengarry Glen Ross sales tactic, I love it haha.

This guy calls up like he needs to speak to the CEO.  Doesn't want to leave a voice mail but then proceeds to ask for my bosses' cell phone number.  Dream on buddy, if I gave out his cell digits to every Tom, Dick or Harry, I would catch holy hell for it.  Dude claims he has his email address and will contact him that way.  What a concept..... Why didn't he go that route originally?  Now that I see he is selling something... I will watch out for 608 area code to show up so the other person in the office doesn't fall for this slick talker.

The Princeton Group is trying to sell Masters tickets.  They claim to be very important, that my boss really wants to hear from them and that it is urgent.  They get verbally abusive when I will not give them my boss' cellphone number.  I recommend just hanging up on them.

I have been getting calls from this guy, who either gives a different name each time he calls or unfortunately there is more than one of them, at least once a day for over a month. He always says that one of our guys in upper management gave him our CEO's name to call. When I tell him the CEO is not available he asks for his moblie number. As if I were that stupid. When I tell him I am not allowed to give out that information he says he will email him. Today I actually got two calls from him back to back but giving me a different name. This Prinston Group is relentless. Now that I know I'm not the only one with this same problem I will just hang up on him in the future. What a waste of time!

I use to work at  PGI and its not a scam.  They sell packages for sporting events.  If they say they got referred, they did.  They don't tell you any information because it isn't any of your business.  You guys have no idea how many of you don't think we talk to your bosses and WE DO.

Just thought I would let you know.  GET OVER IT !       ITS THEIR JOB !

Keep getting these calls, spoke to one guy once and told him to send me some information, to get rid of him. He did and what they were selling was extortionate amount of money for what you get anyway!!!!

Eventually told them we werent interested and to politely Sod Off (British term meaning f*ck off, but slightly more plite ;-) ).

But...alas, they keep calling and i keep ignoring.

I received a call from Michael Morgan with PGI.  He asked for my boss and said he was about to catch a plane.  Same stories I just read on this site.  I asked him what this was regarding he said: "New Business."  I asked him what does PGI do, he said they are a client retenion firm.  He said he misplaced my bosses cell phone number and tried to get it out of me.  Yeah Right!  Like I would give out that number to anyone.

My Caller ID showed:  262-717-3140 - Princeton Group

Thanks to this site, I know its a scam.

OH MAN! That guy is RUDE!!!His name was Matt Carlson from PGI. He was referred to my boss by Beuler of Canada. More like BS!!! Would not say what he was calling about, but am pretty sure he did mention being ready to hop on a plane. Was RUDELY amazed when I told him we don't have individual voice mail in my office.

Too bad, so sad for you JA! I answer phones (and do a hell of a lot of other things) in this office for a reason! I SCREEN calls so my boss doesn't have to deal with this crap. He ain't gettin' past me.

If you ever receive a call from the above number or anybody from the Princeton Group, do yourself a favour and just hang up.  Believe me, they're good at this too.  Lying about "being at the airport" flying in for a meeting, or lying about knowing the person they're trying to contact?  They're just the lowest of the low, glorified telemarketers.  After giving him the run on several calls, I realize MATT CARLSON will say anything or do anything to get a hold of VIP's.  Just tell him to find a real job and to stop harrassing people.

This loser Matt Carlson from Princeton Group, is supposedly the General Manager? In the hospitality industry?  Tried to contact the CEO in my company he refused to give his phone number, called SEVERAL times.  I told him basically that he won't get anywhere without more details and he hung up.  Can you spell Loser with a capital L?  Hospitality Industry?  hhmmm
DO NOT GIVE THIS GUY THE TIME OF DAY!  He's more suitable cleaning toilets.
