Making the call to anyone for any kind of survey is about as dumb as any company can be.  I suppose than YOU can get one to two dumbos to answer YOUR questions but smart people do not.

I luv the 'Revenge Ninjas'! No mercy from the edge of the blade! I'd like to get ahold of the idiot who 'excluded' suryeys from the Do Not Call List ! Now, everyone who calls is doing a 'survey'. This company kept showing up on my id and I'd disconnect them. So, when I finally answer to let them have it with I'm on a Do Not Call List, the idiot starts a nasty argument with me about how it doesn't matter...they're doing a survey...the Do Not Call List doesn't apply to them! "Yah, bullcrap! Really? Don't call this number anymore...clear enough for ya??"... click. Every time a law is made to protect us, it spawns these results! And the CCA site for Consumer Complaints wants a $25.00 processing fee???? They're all in it together!!!

Survey
While I did not answer their questions and asked to be removed, it does seem they are legitimate. I don't like that survey companies are exempt from the donotcall list.  I did go to their website and put my name for them not to call. Now if I had the OPTION to call a telemarketer and participate in a survey, that I might do.

What good is the "do not call list", the ones that call are the ones you don't want to be bothered with!  They are bothering my privacy, but thanks to obamba, I guess we have no privacy anyway!!

Telemarketer
They called.  Didn't leave a message (didn't expect they would).  Looked this up while it was still ringing (win).  The short of things:  They're making money from our responses.  When they'll pay my $50 for my answers, I'll talk to them.  Until then, they can bugger off.

This is the first time they've called here, and they've apparently been calling people since 2007.  After having gotten similar scam calls for several years, and after reading these posts, a few things come to mind:  From the nature of the questions, which seem pretty stupid in most cases, getting your answers are probably not the real reason they are calling.  Transitioning from "diabetes" to "net worth," as one poster mentioned, is a sure sign of phishing.  A genuine survey company would not call the same numbers over and over, as many complainants have noted.  Stating up front that they are not subject to the "Do Not Call" act is another tip-off of a phishing scam.  And finally, legitimate businesses NEVER make cold calls!  There's no reason to do so.  Cold calls would only serve to alienate potential customers.  In all the years that I've received these kinds of calls, NONE were from legitimate businesses that I had not had previous dealings with.  I use a phone with a call-blocking feature.  They get through ONCE, and not again.

Survey
I opted to answer the call (originating from 609-279-1990) that I received this evening, 01/10/13, at 6:45 PM PST here in WA State, after ignoring a previous attempt at contacting us two nights ago.  The female caller ID'ed herself as being employed with BR Interviewing (verifying what was displayed on the Caller ID), then added she was calling on behalf of our local Public Utility, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) to conduct a survey that PSE had contracted BRI to perform.  The caller asked specifically (by name) for the member of my family who is the legal homeowner, and I informed the caller that they individual they requested to speak with may not be available to take the call.

Long story short(er), as a lead-in question to the survey being conducted, I was asked if we had purchased light bulbs of the compact fluorescent type for use in our home, and if so, how many of those bulbs were in the home, and how many had been purchased over the past few years.  I explained that as an immediate (adult) relative of the homeowner, I had neither the time nor the inclination to take inventory of how many CFLs were presently in the many lighting fixtures in the home, and I questioned what the end goal in obtaining the answer to such a question would be. The caller confessed she wasn't certain what would come about from the answer(s) provided. I was told the other survey questions focused on energy-efficient appliances. I let her know I was not interested in providing any information, and speaking on behalf of the legal homeowner, neither were they.  I then requested that we NOT be contacted again in the future.  The caller understood my concerns/skepticism and was polite throughout the exchange.

Perhaps this survey was totally legitimate, but w/o knowing how much info was ultimately being sought in the longer survey, or how it would be used, this seemed to be a junk call.

Someone....do you really think its ok for a computer generated call to invade peoples privacy multiple times a night only to have a hang up when you answer.  Its really no big deal that we have to chase down our phones only to be hung up on because they feel its ok to evercall their staffing?  When I impose on someone I try to be polite and thankful, your company is rude and agressive...and you sound like a complete idiot a real match for this company.

The call came from (609) 279-1990, but I didn't answer.  Anymore I'll just block the entire area code or redirect calls from an entire area code to Voice Mail.  Handling these type of calls is easy with VOIP.  My VOIP carrier is ViaTalk, and they must have the most user-customizable phone system in the world.
