Still happening in 2018. Just got three charges for $180 each, luckily I caught it before they drained it all.

Charged 175.00 on my debit card. Never heard of this company before. I called my bank while I was reading this page and noticed the iTunes charge from the same day as the 175.00. It wasn't noticeable because I use iTunes all the time. But looking at it I realized they tested the card on iTunes and then charged the 175. The bank is thankfully offering me credit and sending me a new card. The lad helping me said this was not the first time she's seen this either.

So November 2013 was the first time I was scammed by these people (three charges each from TOEFL in New Jersey for 45$). Cancelled my card was issued a new account and a new number disputed the old charges and was credited back. Very next statement has 2 new charges from TOEFL in New Jersey for 45$ and a mysterious third charge from a Manhattan based graduate school for 30$. Called my bank again and they transferred me to the hotline. Waited on the hotline for 45 minutes (three separate times) only to get in contact with someone from India who couldn't understand me and I couldn't understand them. Forth and final time I tried I was connected to someone in the United States and was able to get some information about TOEFL but when she went to transfer me to fraud, they transferred me instead to ETickets company office? Extremely pissed off, I called Bank of America (my specific branch in my town) and demanded to speak to the Manager. After speaking to the manager for 40 minutes, she informed me she could not/would not help me and I needed to call fraud again. I asked one final question, of whether she as a manager can put my accounts that I created from her branch on hold for me, and she told me she could not and I had to call fraud. Anyone know what I can do? Can I sue Bank of American for the unwillingness to help me settle a fraud claim and report them to the FTC?

609 771 7100  is TOEFL's Payments Phone Number. Its probably your child who purchased their services.

175 out of nowhere-- had a chase alert on my phone so i found out seconds later, made the call and got assurance from chase that issue would be resolved as soon as the charge cleared (?!)-- then a few minutes after I got off the phone w chase I got a call from an 800 number with a recording saying "hello, this is chase fraud protection...." Trying to switch over from the call I was on, I accidentally hung up. I did a google search on the number and found that it was a scam number. So these b*****ds hit you for 175, then they call you a few minutes as "Chase" to offer you assistance for the scam they just tried to pull on you!!

I've been had too.  Multiple charges of 175 until my acct was depleted.  Chase has been helpful and seem to have reversed the charges, currently pending.

Gosh I don't understand how can you bank let this happen to you if they're suppose to be taking care of their customers.  I have chase and what would of happened if I hadn't check my bank account today.  They are full of it to let the transaction go thru so that they can give you your money, isn' t that rediculous because what if you don' t have enough money on the bank for the rest of your bills.  I'm really getting sick of this b*****ds that could get away with american money.  It is not our fault that their country does not provide them with good income.  We are working hard for our money and we do not go out stealing other people's money.

I just got 2 on my account this morning for 175 each. Called my bank and they are cancelling the card, but the charges will post and I have to wait 24 to 48 hours to retrieve funds. I'm supposed to be going on vacation tomorrow... :(

I signed up today to take the exam in Italy, but after entering the code of my credit card I received no confirmation of enrollment. It says that I should call this number for information on membership status. I called, but after waiting 15 minutes (I call from Italy) I put it down. Is there a way to find out when the inscription was made?

File a police report and make sure the bank claim number is provided.

Hi they are not going to refund you at all.  Just spoke to them and all they could do was sy it was Nigerians and to get hold of my bank.  Waited 3 weeks for them to call back and eventually got hold of them myself.  Not very helpful.

Yep had 3 amounts of $175.00 taken from my debit card for ETSToefl.  They can't help me but said it was Nigerians and gave me 3 suspicious looking names.  Hope they get caught. The bloody b*****ds.

I didn't get a phone call I just got charges on my credit card.  My card company is sending me a new card and taking off the charges.  Someone also charge something on Paypal, but I don't use a card to pay for my Paypal, so I knew that was wrong and besides I didn't even have that much in my account that it comes out of.  LET'S GET THEM11111111

Found I was charged twice in the amount of $175 (total of $350!) this morning. Had to go to my credit union to dispute the charges and get a new account number. Weird, since I haven't made any online purchases in almost a month, and that was from Amazon and Paypal sites.

I did call TOEFL and spoke to a csr who stated they would open a trouble ticket and get the fraud charges hopefully reversed within 7 days.

Is this even a legit company? Who's the one that hacked into their system and is charging our cards with their name in information?

Nobody called me but I did get a 150.00 charge on my bank card from this place. I am disputing it now, NO CLUE WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE!!! Always check your account for weird charges you never make. Identity Theft!

Hi there. I just had 3 charges of $175.00 from a company called ETS/Toefl out of New Jersey. The phone number is 609-771-7100. My bank alerted me and is refunding my money but I want to know how to follwup with this and find those responsible. ANy advice? I recall using my credit card online recently and I was trying to use my PayPal account. ANy connection there with you?

We had 5 charges for $175 and one $210 charge!  Amounting to a lot of money out of our account and some serious headaches!  Our bank will not do anything until we file a report with ETS, which I did and was told it would take 3-5 business days to resolve. We will see. . . Until then we canceled our cards and had new ones issued.  What a pain!

We were just nailed for $175 for TOEFL, and 2 separate charges.  One for $70 to UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO.  And one for $60 to UNIVERSITY OF AKRON.  Done within a period of one week.  From 2-13 to 2-22.  Thinking it might have been a restaurant we frequent, or possibly online?

Aggravating.  I know TOEFL keeps good records.  There should be a way that they could trace payment to a particular student.

I too got hit 6 times for $175.. fortunately my Credit Card company called to check and blocked the transaction. I think it started because I used the card for via Paypal purchase.

P.S. I didn't know anything about the debits until I got a call from the bank, the same day the company tried to put them through (yesterday). Thank God for those alerts.

I'm on hold with my bank now. All these years no problems and now, the ETS*TOEFL svcs drama. WTH?!  My bank will issue me a new card and I will have to sign the "I didn't do it and I don't know what it is" declaration and my bank will investigate.

They said it was only my debit card that was compromised and not my bank acct. The last time I used my card was last month when I ordered an accessory for my notebook, from the (well-known and well-respected) company website.

Of course I don't know if that company's database has been hacked or if this mess stems from something totally unrelated...

Totally frreaked!  We have over $1500 charges pending in 10 different smaller charges!  Called our Chase Bank & I have to wait for the charges to go thru before I dispute.  Has anybody gotten thru to this # to dispute?

This also happened to me...I did not do any Christmas shopping online at all. Just paid a few bills. They got me for $175.00..called the bank no problem to get the money back...just have to drive 15 miles to our local sheriff to file a report and then another 30 miles to the bank...gas is now $3.19 a gallon so this hasn't been as easy as one would think. Sounds like someone needs to put these people out of business.

It just happened to me too! My husband and I just came back from an International trip and we have 3 charges of $175 from this TOEFL bullS!#%! We called the bank and they were able to tell us which debit card was charged and they cancelled it and will issue a new one. However, we have to wait till the charges post to the account and then they will investigate and issue a credit. How the heck did this happen???? This sucks...and right before Christmas :(

As it turns out, someone (or several people) from Nigeria charged my card to pay for tests to confirm their ability to speak and comprehend English to get into school. The school the Universirty of Wyoming - Why there of all places? They actually used my card for admissions and one another test to qualify to join their Graduate program. They stole my money to qualify to get into America to probably bomb an American Building. You need an MBA to be a terrorist?
