Thought I'd just look and see what's new on here.  How are you managing?  We were in the same boat back in 2010.  I moved in with my mum and as it turned out, she was gradually getting forgetful and now has bad dementia so that turned out ok for me - I suppose - as far as somewhere to live.  Don't know what'll happen next.  Do write to me mamas.tarbaby at btinternet.com.

Hello, haven't looked at this site for a while, but noticed how many more are being conned.  Wouldn't it be nice if they caught this ******* . I feel, sometimes, that the Fraud Squad are not doing enough but our hands are tied. More of you should report every little thing about this Justin Costa, Bob Costa of whatever name he's chosen....

Hi, I did speak to P_C Hill today. Unfortunately there is nothing more he can do. Acction Fraud work independently so let's hope they are working on catching this creature and his band of criminals. Because there was a communication from Chicago it does not mean he is there - he could be anywhere. With the sophisticted equipment they use they could be round the corner pretending to be at the other side of the world. If everybody keeps calling Action Fraud, pointing out that the list of those who have been scammed is getting longer, and who knows what else they are up to, let us hope and pray that they catch them.

Hello Ladies-I am sharing the following information with everyone on whocallsme-since you all are in touch with each other on this thread would you please pass it along?

Contact your service provider and have them block incoming international calls, and for those of you using a cellphone, 3rd party and premium SMS. There are a lot of scammers calling or sending unsolicited messages that charge premium rates, that can steal your pay-as-you-go credit or run your phone bill sky-high. To be on the safe side, please check your bill to make sure you haven't been charged, and if you have, ask your provider if the charges can be reversed. Lastly, if the calls have come to your cellphone, have your provider show you how to delete the calls safely so the scammer will lose all of your contact information, or refer to your owner's manual. It should have a special section on what to do if you receive an unsolicited or otherwise dangerous text.

Happy New Year, and best wishes. I hope you catch the scammer.

The telephone number he gave me was a UK number which, apparently he took with him, so it makes no difference where the telephone is registered. He is using very sophisticated equipment which enables him and his band of criminals to do just about anything. We traced him to the Philippines because that is where I sent the money.

Eastendhit was also scammed and she too reported it to Action Fraud but it would appear that they and the police are not working together. If you want to try the police station I went to their general number is 020 8733 3441. PC Hill was pro active - he does shift work. I also contacted Action Fraud but they said because I had reported it to the police they could not take the case on - I find it all rather difficult to understand - one would have thought they would liaise. I will try and get in touch with PC Hill myself tomorow.

I have just received my phone bill.  It transpires that the number that Justin Stanford gave me was in the US.  So much for him being in the Phillipines.
I have not heard from Action Fraud yet, I am presuming this is because of Xmas and NYE and all the bank holidays.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear you too have been scammed by this creature. The crime number I was given is 2002053/11 and my case was dealt with by PC Hill, tel.no: 020 8733 3876. This is his direct number. He is based at South Harrow Police Station, Middlesex. My file was closed because at the time, about spring of last year, nobody else had come forward to report a scam. Good luck, let me know how you get on. I will switch on again later.

I met Justin Stanford on Match.com.  Similar old stories.  Had a house in Fulham lived in Manila whilst on an engineering project.  His wife had died and his son in Iraq.  I actually asked him if he was corresponding with several woman at one stage.  He never really responded to my emails

He asked for my address as he was unable to receive a letter.  It was sent by Fedex from Chicago.  He then asked for a loan because of the flooding in the Philipines  and told me to open the letter which contained a cheque for $36,000.  So there must be a contact in the organisation that is in the US too.

He then had the nerve to contact my daughter who lives in Sydney for a loan too!

I was contacted by him - using Justin Stanford via DD - I don't usually give out private email details, but he said his membership was ending in 2 days - same story of wife and son,his generosity to charities, chemical company bla bla bla. I replied but did not give phone details.  Just 'got a feeling' - google search - and found this info.  Fortunately, I have stopped things very early! I hooe early enough. Makes me so angry.

Hi Jean, sorry you didn't get anywhere with the Fraud Squad. It's hard to know whether there was any liaison between my case and them. I guess we have both done what we can the rest is in the lap of the Gods.. Take care.

Hello Doulla, I phoned Action Fraud, mentioned our conversation but they adament about not giving progress reports - in other words they are not supposed to say if the case is dropped.  I mentioned this website. No outcome anyway.  I'll leave it there

Yes, I did send him money - borrowed to send him, and yes it still haunts me too because I'm having to pay it all back, probably for the rest of my life.  How can anybody get over something like this. I too spoke to the Fraud Squad and the police. I went to the police station and gave a statement and thereafter the police came here and read the emails, texts, etc. and took what they required from my file. All this happened early this year. If you want to get in touch with the police who dealt with me let me know and I will give you the details. They did say that if others had reported him as well they would have taken the matter further. My phone number is 07821387372.

I had a crime  number that the Fraud Squad gave me back in 2010.  He's destroyed you too has he?  They are a group because I spoke to him on the phone and 4 other assistants or helpers.  So they are back in the Phillipines, well, well.  Did you send them money as I did? It still haunts me...

I know the investigation came to an end because the police told me so. The reason being that nobody else reported him to the police, so they told me. If others had reported him it's possible that they might have been able to get somewhere - he was traced in the Philippines. I do have a crime number. He has absolutely destroyed me.

What has happened to you as far as the bankruptcy because I was in the same boat as you.  You should've reported to the Fraud Squad - I did.
I even went to see the 'house' he said he had in Essex,  It was there just as he described it.  I went into the local police station to tell them.  I will never recover.

It's such a shame that only one person reported the matter to the police. Justin Robert Costa was traced in the Philipinnes but unfortunately as nobody else came forward the file was closed.  No doubt he is now 'taking a break' until he and his fellow criminals feel it's safe to start again.

This number is involved in a Nigerian scam.  A gentleman poses as a businessman on a dating site and then scams women out of money

My thanks to all you who wrote messages on this site. Justin Robert Costa appeared on Direct Dating in January. We exchanged e-mails for 4 or 5 weeks - he deleted his details in late January (or maybe they were deleted by the website staff). I received all the same stories as the other women on here before me but thankfully he didn't get to the requests for money. I too had pictures with a motorbike. I became suspicious when he supposedly phoned from Manila and got the time difference between there and England incorrect. Other things didn't hang together - he had an unidentifiable accent though he said he'd been raised in Manchester, lived in the US for 17yrs and now lived in Fulham, London. The phone number he gave me was for outer rather than inner London. His use of English in the e-mails was not that of a native English person. He also said he had a Business degree from Massachusets and an MA in Economics from London School of Economics. I decided to put his name into Google and found this site - I have now reported him to the DD site. I was told his details and membership have already been removed so presumably he had already been reported.

Well...his name is no longer Justin Costas, now it is Justin Roberts and according to him he lives in Santa Barbara, California, but is presently in Manila doing business. I met him on match.com, but he is no longer there, I corresponded with him for approximately 3 weeks, felt that there was something really wrong with this person. Thanks to this website, what I felt was confirmed. I still feel rather dumb. Has not asked me for money yet, but everything else is exactly the same: the emails, the photo of an honest looking man, the phone calls, the wife, the son killed in Iraq, the cars, the emails he doesn't seem to read, etc. What I find interesting is that this guy is not very creative. His story is the same over and over and over again.
My question is how do we protect other women from this psychopath? And, should I be concerned for my safety? Where does he live anyway?

Hi, I have had an email today from this low life.  He told me he was brought up in Manchester but from his mail he spoke in broken English.  This is the first email from him and aleady he is planning a life together.  What a saddo.  Thank goodness for the internet and this site.
I feel for the ladies who have been taken in by him.  I hope he gets caught and punished.

This creature considers himself to be a 'very clever' criminal. He is obviously using all the dating sites. He and his band of criminals have found a way of extorting money from vulnerable women because they are too lazy to work. They are using very sophisticated equipment. Let us all hope and pray that they get their comeuppance very soon because they are destroying lives.

Have just been looking at other dating sites and low and behold "ustogether283" popped up on cupid.com
Exactly the same profile but a different photo, I have informed the dating site, lets hope they can do somrthing about this. Have spoken to Action Fraud but they won't do anything about it as I was not a victim, I asked them about the photo and they say that he's probably a victim of identity theft (ie they have taken it from other dating sites). Lets hope he is caught very soon.
