No calls from them in a while.  Guess they are getting the picture that I am not going to deal with them.  In an earlier post I said to go around town and make as many calls as you can.  Maybe you shouldn't do that, but if you are going to call them make sure that they are the ones paying for the call, make them look up the information ( when you call from home the info probably shows up on their screen).  Its all about the commission so keep them talking as long as you can, if they can see that they are LOSING MONEY they could get from others maybe they won't call you anymore.  I'm not saying to avoid paying bills, but you have to keep your priorities straight.  These guys bought the debt from the original debtor for pennies on the dollar.  a $1000.00 account may have cost them 50.00 or less.  So if they get 100.00 from you they have doubled their investment.

I was having the same issues most everyone else is. They would call me and because they did not want to hear anything other than my account number, they would hang up on me. If they are going to hang up, then why call me?

I also got the threats and slander everyone else is stating. I started the BBB and FTC route, but I found a faster way. I was able to get the names and info of the officers from the web site registry. I started with an e-mail to Peter Pinto and that was all it took. One of the officers called me back right away and that was three days ago and I have not gotten any calls.

I was prepared to conference in an officer everytime I got one of thier folks on the phone. Here is all the information I had gathered in an hour of research and want to pass it on.

Peter Pinto - President/CEO
(631) 962-0376
(631) 786-2428 (personal?) Cell phone
Peter.Pinto@OXFMGT.com

Diane Pinto, President
Oxford Management Services

Melville, NY 11747

Other management
arlos.Novelli@OXFMGT.com; Charles.Harris@OXFMGT.com; Salvatore.Spinelli@OXFMGT.com; Della.Vudrag@OXFMGT.com
(570) 496-1130 = Joan Kusak

I would suggest sending an e-mail to Peter.Pinto@OXFMGT.com and ask him to take you off the list. Tell him the issues you are having and ask to be removed. But remeber to start out nice. If you are a jerk then he will get defensive and too many of those and he will just change his information then this won't be valid. And I am sure he is going to be swamped now, so give him some time before you start sending again or calling

This is what I was advised to send via certified mail so that I know someone received it:
Please pass this correspondence to the appropriate personnel.  This is a CEASE OF COMMUNICATION notice for the phone number [xxx]xxx-xxxx.  The party you are trying to reach does not live here, nor is related to the occupants of this home or the owner of the aforementioned phone number.  I have no established business relationship with your firm, or debt collectors of any kind.  I am assured by the FTC that you cannot contact this number at any time in the future once you have received this communication, which I am sending via certified mail.  If you violate this rule, I am told that I have legal options and that fines of up to $11,000 may be levied upon your organization.
I will accept receipt of this letter and your assurances that you will not disturb me in my home any further BY CORRESPONDENCE ONLY.  Dealings with representatives on the phone have resulted in my receiving unnecessarily rude treatment, which can be construed as abusive.  I was also refused information about the caller such as a name and promised by a member of management (by your company’s description) that the calls would cease.  For these purposes, I have already filed a complaint with the FTC.  I will continue to file complaints as long as this issue remains unresolved.
It might also interest you that the following information is made public by the FTC and can be accessed by any consumer that feels that they are being harassed:
If a consumer asks a company not to call, the company may not call, even if there is an established business relationship. Indeed, a company may not call a consumer - regardless of whether the consumer's number is on the registry - if the consumer has asked to be put on the company's own do not call list.
I look forward to your prompt and courteous attention to this matter.

OMS has been harassing us on an old Labcorp bill.  I am going back to the originial creditor to make arrangements instead of dealing with these scum.
Hateful people all they want is my checking account information. The jerk kept insisting on postdated checks. I told him that I knew of comapnies that were supposed to do only the payment and then drafted the entire amount owed.  He said, we are a multimillion dollar business and could get in trouble with the law.  I told him that was bull and if that took money out without permission I would have to come from KY to NY to sue.  The judge would ask if I owed the amount (which I did to the originial creditor) there would be nothing I could do to get it back from them.  I told them nothing they could say would make me give them that and if I have to pay them anything it will be by money order. I would be leery about sending a check to them in any form as they could take bank information and draft out what they want.  I intend to pay my bills but was at a time where we were choosing between heating and eating so medical bills had to take a back burner.  Still struggling, but won't let these scum rearrange my priorities.  My kids will be fed and sheltered first. I will also record any calls they happen to make to build a case against them.
I found the following information on http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/forums/about6156-9.htmlnumber

Get a hold bunch of people together and have a payphone party. Call this 1866-822-6750 every minute.

If you tired of these people calling you call them back and make them pay .55.

3. What is payphone surcharge? And what if people called from a payphone?
Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted a surcharge on toll-free calls placed from payphones. This charge is collected on behalf of the payphone service providers and will be remitted to them. Therefore, if your 800/888 number receives a call from a payphone it will result in an additional charge of $0.55 per call.
My own note:
Go around town and do as many calls as you can!!!  Have people who don't owe them anything to do it too.  We went through Financial Peace University with Dave Ramsey and he offers some great strategies as well in dealing with these bottom feeders.

Got three or four calls.  Called them back.  They asked for someone whose name I don't know. When I said I don't know anyone by that name, they hung up.  I'm not sure what this is about, but it sure sounds suspicious.  They stress the fact that the call is being recorded.  I'm willing to bet that it's a way to get people's voices (see: waveform) on tape for future reference.

Also, if you look at their website, the "OMS" on top of "their" building is ridiculously obviously photoshopped.

I keep getting this call, and when I called it back, it says it's from PA.  When I answer the call, it will ring one to two times and then disconnect. If I call the number, I get an error message saying the number is not in service. I'll also point out this is a cell phone number.

I just put my number on the do not call registry to see what happens.

Report them. Oxford Management have already been fined by the FTC for their illegal practices. Making a complaint to the FTC does work!

WASHINGTON, July 2, 2009 -- The Federal Trade Commission issued the following press release:

The operators of a debt collection company (Oxford Management) that used false threats and other unlawful tactics to collect consumers' debts have agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that they violated federal law. The settlements bar future violations and require the defendants to pay $225, 000.

According to the FTC complaint, the defendants, who had about three million consumer accounts and collected debts in every state, falsely threatened that nonpayment of debt would result in garnishment of consumers' wages, arrest, or legal action.

After finding several messages and name/numbers on my caller ID over period of couple of weeks, I answered a call today. Guy on the other side said that I own some money to his client, which I explained is absolutely not true, as I pay my bills always on time. When I asked him not to call me any more, because this must be a mistake and I'm on the Do Not Cal list, he said: "No, no, I will call you every day and you will need a lawyer". Also, he asked me for my SSN, which was suspicious to me, as I have never had any business with them before. I asked to speak to his manager, but he answered that he is his own manager and I can not speak to anyone else.
I filled complaints with donotcall.gov and ftc.gov .

Oxford Management is a shady collection agency based in Melville NY. They will NOT take no fro an answer when you tell them there is no one by the name they're inquiring about and that you have no debtd.  Rude, evil, just plain nasty.  What fun I would have to have them come to my home so I can do to them what they so desperately deserve.

As with others posting here, they've called our house 2-3 times a week for perhaps 2 months now?  We normally never answer calls we don't recognize, and they never leave a message, but just now I finally answered to tell them to go away.  Got a computerized voice saying "this is not a solicitation, please hold for the next available representative".  Next I heard the clicking as the line was transferred, then another voice said "all of our representatives are currently assisting other clients.  Please hold blah blah blah".  No thanks--gave them 38 seconds of my time which was far too much.

I am a financial analyst and work frequently with credit bureaus, my wife and I certainly don't have any outstanding debts or ID theft cases  (I monitor that for a living...).  I'm going to file a complaint with the FTC.  Now they have me mad.

Calls come every day and night for someone that used to have this number. I Told them the call was being recorded and to please take our number off the calling list. They then said I did not have permission to record them so I told them they did have have permission to call my house, they quickly terminated the call.
