I had called UHC for some info about my account. Their computer was being updated at the time. I had planned to call back later. The customer service rep called me to give me the info I had requested. Super service.

Whether or not it is United Health Care it is a SPAM ROBOCALL system. Each and every time this starts up, it uses your local area code for the first call, then this Minnesota 9000 number and then a Florida number. It is like clockwork, always the 3 numbers and always just a few hours apart on the same day. Like all ROBOCALLS, they are annoying, irritating and nothing will ever stop them. Congress continues to allow big company loopholes (ROBO's are not legal to wireless phones but not enforced) in all laws and those regulated by the FCC (https://esupport.fcc.gov/ccmsforms/form1088.action?form_type=1088G) are no different. This FCC consumer complaint form and the Do Not Call registry are the biggest jokes and waste of taxpayer dollars like most all government run institutions, including the military.
A new phone number will not help as it is just a matter of time before your new number (whether or not it is previously a cell "burner") will be called because ROBO's are random to all phones.
If you don't recognize the number, just send it to voicemail. If you have something like the free Google Voice, you can "block" such calls and then they hear the "The number you have dialed is not in service" recording.
If you have a Samsung smart phone you can use the Call Settings > Call Rejection> Auto Reject to enter all such numbers and never be bothered again.
You can also check out the apps stores for "auto reject call."

After reading the posts, I called back to my return number (different than those I read).. It appears UHC represents a number of separate health providers, and a number of their individual activities (emergency, appointment confirms, and in my case, other). Mine was BC/BS, doing an annual follow-up to determine whether a newer policy has adequate in terms of services, needs and medications/prescriptions. They want to perform an at-home quick visit physical, with follow-up. This is something new to me.

received 2 calls from 612-234-9000 Minnesota - on cell phone which I do not use for any business or insurance or application purposes. Always use my land-line for these purposes. calls came in on 2 consecutive days - 1st for me and 2nd for my spouse. Both times the calls were not answered so they left a toll free call back number: 800-806-3242 with a call-back ID reference number. called them back both times - said they were a Medicare Revenue Reconciliation Service & they get their "work" from Medicare to clean out any possible old or incorrect info - dealing with current employment and/or other insurers. They did seem to have our info -- some of which was old (past employers, insurers) - never asked for anything but our retirement dates & employers insurance expiration dates. HOWEVER, I called Medicare, who "had no knowledge of this company" so we did submit a fraud complaint w/ govmt. & Identity Theft Alerts. WHO KNOWS? - best to "Zip-Your-Lips"

A lady who identified herself as a United Health Group, representing Regence, made an appointment to come to my house to see if I am aware of all the benefits I'm paying for, like "Silver Sneakers". The call awoke me from a sound sleep so I stupidly I set up this appointment without thinking. I have NEVER had United Health Care. The number that showed up on my ID was 612-234-9000.......I tried calling to cancel and get a recording that "it is a non-working number of United Health Group, and to call the number on the back of my card".
Obviously I don't have a card. I'm not insured by them. The area code is in Minnesota!!!! Strange!!!!
Making a house call? Even more strange! I think it must be a fraud. If someone shows up at my door I won't be letting them in.

612-234-9000.......................says "United Health Care Group" representing my healthcare provider. A very insistant person said they just wanted to review & make sure we are receiving all the benefits we are entitled to. (mentioned "silver Sneakers")...............wanted to come to our home. She already had our address & I stupidly set an appointment. Had second thoughts, called my healthcare provider, was informed I should be wary of someone making a "cold-call" wanting to come to our home. The above number of 612-234-9000 was on my ID..........Tried calling to cancel appt......Get a message, "you have reached a non-working number at United Health Care Group. Please dial the number on the back of your card".....No-one in my family has ever had UNITED HEALTH CARE insurance. Probably drumming up business for the new Obama Health Care?..............(I think it's a scam to get inside your home). Beware!!!!

Received call at 11:45AM from this number.
It was from UMR (my Healthcare provider) verifying approval for upcomming procedure. I can only guess the caller id of 612 234-9000 is a VOIP or spoofed number. The message left clearly identified the company and purpose of the call.

Ingenix itself and these calls in general are annoying. However, your insurer has put you under obligation to answer Ingenix's questions within usually 3 phone call attempts and a written attempt with a tight deadline, or they will simply close your case and deny your insurance claim.
Many insurers do not use such a service, and the concepts of subrogation or coordination of benefits may be new to some people. Pestering, yes. Scam? No.

The reason "other insurance info" is needed is to make sure the claims are paying correctly. Once a year they are required to ask if your dependants or if your over age 65 if you have other health insurance primary over UMR. If you or your depts do and you do not let them know they will be paying your claims primary along with the other insurance causing over payments from your employer. So simply just answer the question its really not a big deal they HAVE to ask at your employers request, why don't you ask them why next time not just complain.

What do my claims have to do with being asked if I have other insurance. If you r my insurance what the Hell does it matter. And u want to know who is covered? Well my policy is through u shouldn't YOU know!

UHC transferred a health insurance subscriber to the wrong number so I did what I could to get him to the right number, UMR by looking it up on the internet.
| Suzy 2011-07-19 22:53:32 Unknown |
Left no message & if it's United Healthcare, they sure weren't following up with me on anything, as I've never contacted them or even looked into them.

I work for clinics and UHC calls from this # wanting to get us to reduce our bill when we are out of network. THey usually want a fax # so they can send us the reduction request and then they will keep faxing one for every single bill and will not take your fax # off the list. My advice: dont give them your fax # if you never intend to accept a reduction.

Got a call from someone named Mike claiming to be a United Healthcare Representative asking if anyone else on my plan is covered under any other insurance plans. I said No, he said, that is all I need to know and hung up.
I didn't think anything of it because his phone voice seemed professional however the quick question and quick hang up was suspicious. "Mike" called my job as well.

My husband received a call on 1/14/2009 from 612-234-9000. The caller said he was calling regarding "my" policy with UHC. This seemed to be "legit", since I recently changed jobs & am now covered by UHC. The caller wanted to know if my husband was covered by any other insurance company? My husband answered "No". He then asked if he had Medicare coverage. My husband answered "only Part A". The caller then asked him his Medicare number & my husband "regrettably & admittingly without thinking" provided this PHI. I did check with UHC the next day & they state "this is not their policy to request PHI over the phone". This has necessitated in our taking the needed precautions & notifying financial institutions, etc that our identity may now have been compromised!!!

Yea sure!! We weren't born yesterday--sammer. Don't companies as normal business correspond by mail and not phone. BTW their call id comes up as unavailable. Idle threats on your part-low life.
| Michelle 2011-06-06 20:52:29 Unknown |

Checked with UHC this is not one of their phone numbers. It is a fraud.
