Since Karen's post is ~6 weeks old, it's unlikely she'll see your reply. I suggest you contact your local police and tell them what happened. You may have to face charges, possibly reduced because you came forward of your own free will, or none at all because you are an unwitting victim as well, but this is the cleanest way to go. The cops may transfer this to the FBI if shipments crossed state lines. You may want to consult an attorney before going to the police. Sorry this happened to you, best of luck.

Karen I also received packages already, and shipped them out, but they told me I was working for JCPenney's.  They even had letter head from the company.  What did you end up doing?  Are they still sending you packages?  I want to get out of this business if it is not legit.  Please help.

I am already signed up and have shipped out several packages.  Now that I read all this and see its an illegal operation, I need to know if there is anything I can do to report it, besides this site.

I also recieved the same email from Kevin Strainer@BestBuyHR.Com on July 6, 2010 at 5:24 pm. I emailed him back and asked what location would this be at?  I also felt like this was a scam, I called Best Buy Corporate Office and they did not know where to direct my call in regards to this. Below is the reply this Kevin Strainer gave me:   I strongly believe that Best Buy needs to look into this scam activity.

Well, it seems Kevin Strainer is going strong because I received an email from him as well on July 6 and I was suspicious but I did email him to ask what location was seeking gift wrapping people since to my knowledge Best Buy doesn't offer that service in their stores.  I live within 5 minutes of one.  Then I received the application, the job description, etc. but the wording was a little off and I called Best Buy's Corporate offices this morning to find out that it is in fact a scam.  I am registered on Career Builder.com
so I am guessing that they have somehow infiltrated their data base to get email information etc.  I am so glad I did not go any further with this!!  I'm glad to know about this website so I can check out other emails I get that seem fraudulent.

I think a lot of these people get information from resume posting services, such as when you place  your  resume on careerbuilder.com. This is why I always try to keep these postings PRIVATE, but the scam artists always seem to find a way to get it. I wonder if some of these sites aren't selling the information.

My email was from KEVIN STRAINER. Well I hope he doesn't strain himself too much.
I have never applied to Best Buy and no one is going to "offer" anyone a job without first interviewing them.

I too received a message from STEVEN SCHEIERN. I checked his email and it ended with @bestbuyHR.com. So, I thought it was legitimate. I then faxed the agreement form with my signature and address. I emailed him 3 times and no reply. Now I know its a scam after coming to this website. I feel so angry on these people who do such dirty scams.

That is the same guy that contacted me!!! The first item that I received to wrap was a digital camera and they wanted me to send it to Russia, that was a big red flag because I found it weird that people from Russia were buying items from Best Buy. I also found out that Best Buy does not ship to foreign countries. The next items that I received were from Barnes and Knoble,,,,hey wait a minute wasn't I working for Best Buy?????? BIG RED FLAG!!!

I fell for it as well. I have the gift wrap, labels and have been sent items to wrap but now I just don't know what to do with them. I have emailed a complaint to IC3.org with is a division of the FBI but continue to receive items to wrap. Should I let this guy know that I am aware that this is a scam?

This is a typical work-from-home reshipper scam.  Fraudsters from outside the US recruit people here to receive product purchased with stolen/compromised credit cards and send them over to Eastern Europe, Nigeria, East Asia (or sometimes another US-based reshipper).  Usually the "gift wrapper" version is organized by fraudsters in Russia or the old soviet bloc countries.

The gift wrapping part is incidental.  What they want is a temporary US address they can use to launder stolen merchandise through.

"I work in store is about 3 months."  Hahahahaha.  I work is store right now, buddy.

I also received the email from Richard Graham a week or so ago.  Feel like an idiot but it really looked legit and I didn't find anything about it being a scam when I first Googled it. Anyway, I already have been sent gift wrap (from The Container Store) and the Avery shipping labels.  I've been told my first package is on its way.  Not really sure what the actual scam is but glad I found this site.

Typical post from the scammers.  If you already are doing this work as you claim, you would have no reason to look up the number on this site.

But posts like yours help us know that this site is working!
