Got a call from this number - came up as Exchange Student. I didn't answer and no message left. ARGH!

It's not as scary as you think. Some calls are actually from good-hearted people looking for actual homes that would be willing to take a student. How would I know? My friend is a coordinator that relies on that 'creepy' technique to get all of her students placed

I have an unlisted number and no children and got a call today 8/9/11 saying they were looking for homes for exhange students.  I am in North Carolina.  It is scary that they randonly call numbers. There are no many pedofiles, etc out there.

It seems they've changed their number.  Got exact same caller ID, "student exchange", with the number   1-612-808-5636.  No message.  I returned the call and got a recording saying that it was for telemarketing purposes.  It also said I could remove our number from their list, which I did.  Now let's see if it worked.

As an aside, my daughter has recently been looking into studying overseas.  I wonder if someone gave out her information, or if this was coincidence.  Anyone else have any connection with something like this?

I also put call type below as "unknown", as I had to return the call before finding out was a telemarketer.

Received all from this number, answered on 2nd ring, no one there.  I will keep answering until I get a response from them, When this nu. appears I answer ny phone as "United States Marshal's ofice, State of Oklahoma, How may I help you.  If they do not responsed to that, or if they do, I merely state that all call's are traced and recorded>  That has stopped a number of my telemarketer calls. Besides giving me a laugh at their stuttering and apology's/

No Phone Message!

Recording said that they were some type of student foreign exchange program, and wanted to know if I would be willing to sponsor a foreign student in my home.

Received a call from this number on Satuday 2/26/2011 at 11:07 AM Central. Answered on 2nd or 3rd ring and had an open line. No voice response from calling number. Search shows 612 origin as Minneapolis, MN area. Caller I.D. shows Foreign Exchange.

The only way I know to help get these kinds of calls stopped is to keep a record of each call, which includes the date and time of every one of them.  When you have been sufficiently harassed, send all of your data to the Attorney General for the state of Minnesota (if that's were area code 612 is).  The police there could help if you could locate the area in Minnesota where the calsl originate.  Otherwise,
the Attorney General for Minnesota is a terrific person who has helped in the past with this type thing.

If we all save these records, together we can get this kind of thing stopped.  I, for one, find it annoying.

Received a call from "Foreign Exchange"  Did not answer, no message left.  What good does it do to be on the "Do Not Call" List.  I quit even bothering reporting these calls.  They do nothing to stop them.

recorded announcement "is telemarketing purposes" - opt 1 to remove opt 2 to get a person - both options get message "voice mail is full can take no messages " - when call back to 612-808-5597 get recorded announcement that it isnot a working number

got a call from this number, answered it 3 rings in and nobody there, went back to dialtone 1 minute later. Showed as unknown number

Received call 1-18-2011 at 7:05 p.m caller ID said Foreign Exchange, thought it might be from my daughter who is in France. It started out with a young woman introducing herself and then started talking about foreign exchange students, this is where I hung up. I'm sure if I stayed on the phone long enough they would have asked for money.

I don't know a single soul in the Minneapolis area (where this call appears to be from) and suspect it's some telemarketer.
