It's Discover Fraud Division.  My guess is they have it set up where their computer will flag anything that looks out of the ordinary from your usual usage.  It was only $20, but it was something the computer didn't recognize as activity that would appear on my account.

yes, that number is from discover (fraud division)!
i told the person who called that they did not leave a message when i called back.
he apologized and asked if i would want him to help!  i said: who are you really?
he then told me to look at the back of card and call the 800 number to talk to someone but it would come back to his dept!
i said we will see and hung up. i then called they 1-800-discover number.
it was them alright. a family member who is out of state used our card ( with permission)
and was declined in a couple of stores hence the call to my phone from discover
it was them! it was resolved by me after a few minutes on the phone

We have been getting this type of call for the past month or so - it happens on our 2 cell phones and the house phone AT THE SAME MOMENT.  I have seen many posts saying it's for Discover Card.  The mesage states that it will send a text message, which it does.  The text message says "You've got a new voicemail from (614) 283-1941" but the phone number it actually comes from is 860-821-0721.   Looking up that number I find "+91 8608210*** Mobile Numbers are Idea connections and are being used in Tamil Nadu Telecom Circle (excludes CH Chennai, MEPZ, Mahabalipuram & Minjur and includes Pondicherry except Yanam & Mahe)" ...

I DO NOT HAVE A DISCOVER CARD.   I HAVE NEVER HAD A DISCOVER CARD.   So one is spoofing the 1941 number, probably digging for credit card info.    Do NOT call these numbers ... if you want to talk to Discover Card that call 1-800-DISCOVER.

I didn't answer and listened to the voicemail which said it was discover's fraud prevention. My card had just been declined so it made sense but I'm cautious so I called the number on the back of my card. It was indeed a legit call the first time. All my transactions were fine, not sure why the fraud alert was tripped but the call was legit.

Yes, it is Discover Fraud Protection. I called the 800 # on my card and I'm glad I did because they had actually placed a hold on my card due to a large online purchase I made about an hour ago. I just verified that it was me and they took the hold off. Easy enough & they were just looking out for me, as others have said here. I would not ignore a call from them...especially if you have not made any purchases recently as it could be that someone is using your card #.

If you get a call from this number then Discover (credit card) is calling to verify some recent purchases made on your Discover card. For some reason they suspect that your card is being used fraudulently. Most likely your card will not work again until you call them about this. /// If you do not have a Discover card then your phone number has been given to Discover by someone who does have a Discover card as their home (or work) phone number. That does sound suspicious ... or maybe it is just a mistake on the part of the card holder. In either case you should call them back.

Initially, I did not answer this call thinking it was a solicitation, but after reading the comments here I decided to call the main Discover Card number directly and inquire (1-800-DISCOVER).  I was immediately routed to the Discover fraud prevention team.  Fraudulent charges had been made on my card yesterday.  Their awesome fraud detection software picked it up and they were calling me to alert me to this fact and verify which were my legit charges and which were fraudulent.  So if they call, it is in your best interest to answer or do like I did and call Discover directly if you are suspicious as I am.

The good news...they caught the fraud immediately.  The bad news...after 20+ years with this same Discover card, I will have to get a new card number because of some idiots in another state who somehow got my number and charged a bunch of stuff at a department store there.  I wish bad things on these losers. 8-/

I keep getting calls from this number from one week ago. No any message left for the first several times and the last one left 2 words: discover financial. I thought it was from my discover card and just called back. A guy answered the call and he sounds very rude. He asked for my card number. After giving him my number I really feel this fishy and told him I will call back later. Hope I didnot expose too much information.

You probably do have a discovercard tied to your SS#. People need to check their credit histories very carefully!

I use to get calls from one odd number which would ring twice and disconnect. I answered it the second time....no response. Now I am getting calls from this same number that all, here, are talking about....rings twice...disconnects. If it was truly Discover Card...they would not hang up, they would not ask for the card number.

I will not answer the phone and I would not provide any such info unless I was involved in a sting operation.

I recieved 3 calls back to back from this number.  I normally don't answer calls from unknown numbers and they did not leave a message so I ignored them.  They fianlly sent me an e-mail letting me know that they were trying to reach me regarding recent activity on my Discover Card.  They also informed me that this wasn't a promotoinal e-mail or call.  Once I called back, I found out that there were 3 unauthorized transactions on my account.  Discover assured me that I would not be responsible for these transactions and is promptly changing my account.  I am so glad they e-mailed me too.

Just this morning I received a call from 614-283-1941, saying that they were from Discover Card Fraud Protection, and that there had been some questionable activity on my card.  I was a bit suspicious at first, but they never asked me for information, and read off a list of purchases that I had indeed made, as well as the ones they were questioning.  Those charges had been made in Coral Springs, FL.  I have not been in FL in many years.

I was informed that I needed to destroy my current card, and that they would be sending me a new one overnight with a new account number, and read me off my address.  They also knew the two different card designs that I have had, and asked which one I wanted.

So if you're a Discover customer, ABSOLUTELY answer the call!  They are only performing an excellent customer service, so please be nice to them, as they are attempting to save you possibly thousands of dollars.

Definitely Discover Fraud protection.  I got a call from them just now (at 12 AM EST !!) and got suspicious.  did a search, saw this page and then called the 800 number on the back of the card.  They confirmed that they had just called me.

If you're concerned, call the 800 number on the back of the card, punch in your relevant account info (account and zip code, etc.) and then 0 (zero) to speak with a representative ("Agent"),

That will both allay your concerns and it should stop the calls from the 614 number.

I received a call from this number, and, upon calling it back, verified that it was Discover Financial Services Fraud Department. They verified my phone # and the 3-digit card verification number from the back of my Discover card, then told me about two charges they had seen on my account, charges which prompted their call to me. I wasd able to confirm that both charges were legitimate. I appreciate their looking out for fraud on my account
