Scam

Got a call from this 617-274-0017. An indian accent dude say hello after 4 seconds of silent, under very noisy background. He try to ask for me, and when I asked who is calling, he start mumble on a name that no one can understand. New level of SCAM that actually knows my name, I will be more careful next time.

This number has called me multiple times over the last several weeks and caller identifies himself as others have described - some sort of warranty company.  Tried to call the number back and got the same "we're closed..." recording others have reported. They referenced a car I traded in several months ago.  The first call, the guy was giggling. I told him he should really get his sh*t together before making marketing calls and stop laughing.  He immediately hung up.  I just reported the number to the Federal Trade Commission, the agency that operates the "Do Not Call" registry.  I recommend others do the same.

called about car warranty service or something.  i do have a car with a warranty, so while it seemed fishy, i wanted to make sure it was a scam.  they knew my name and the make/model/year of my car.  it quickly became clear, though, that they knew absolutely nothing about me or the car that's not in dmv/insurance records.  ok, bye then.

Call today apparently from this number. Same recording mentioned just above.

"Vehicle processing department".  Knew my name, when I said "yes, how can I help you?" they hung up.  

Called back, got the same  "our office is closed and will be open Monday thru Friday 7am - 4pm PACIFIC TIME (yet they have a 617 area code)"

Called about a week ago a foreign sounding guy asked for someone named Steve after I said hello three times, after informing them they have the wrong number, they have CALLED EVERY DAMN DAY SINCE.

They don't leave any message and when you call back, you get a recording that says "our office is closed and will be open Monday thru Friday 7am - 4pm PACIFIC TIME (yet they have a 617 area code)" No buisiness name is given just "our office" and even when you call when they are "open" you get the same recording.  

I received a call from this number spoke with a "supervisor" by the name of Bill Jordan. SCAM! They said they were calling about my Chevy car about renewing/extending my car warranty.

I received a phone call from this number and they identified as the warranty department for ACURA.  He want to know how many miles is on my vehicle.  I told them if you are the warranty department, you can access my information from the dealer.  He then said thank you and bye.  It is probably a scam and asking you to buy extended warranty.

Medical Alert - Telemarketers.  Now blocked.

A telemarketer sitting in room (I could hear background noise) identified himself with a vague "Warranty Service Department". Wanted to ask about auto warranty. So they have access to RMV or insurance data since they had my make, model and year. I told them to take me off their list and hung up. I doubt this will work since I think this is a scam because they did not identify themselves with a Caller ID name. They are using my local area code since people are more likely to pick up for a local caller.
