Hi All
I signed up for Survey Savvy. I called and talked to the owner of the company because I received a $5.00 cheque. If you are canadian you can open a us chequing account my plan includes this so it was free. They are legit. If you are lucky some survey's pay quite a bit. Again if you do not mind taking surveys fine but you must specifically sign up to there website. You do have to create a userid and password.

NO ONE IS CALLED OUT OF THE BLUE, YOUR INFORMATION IS GIVING TO LUTH BY THE CLIENT WHO HIRED LUTH TO DO THE MARKETING SURVEY.

EXAMPLES:
IF A NEWSPAPER SURVEY, MAYBE YOU SUBSCRIBE TO THAT PAPER... AND THEY GAVE LUTH YOUR INFO FOR THE STUDY

IF AN INSURANCE COMPANY, MAYBE YOU INQUIRED ABOUT A POLICY... AND THEY GAVE LUTH YOUR INFO FOR THE STUDY

IF A SURVEY ABOUT TAX REFUND, YOU GOT YOUR TAXES DONE AT HR BLOCK, JACKSON HEWITT, ETC... AND THEY GAVE LUTH YOUR INFO FOR THE STUDY

GET IT???

OR... MAYBE YOU HAVE SIGNED UP ONLINE AT SURVEYSAVVY TO GET PAID TO TAKE SURVEYS, OR BE PART OF PAID STUDY PANELS...

THERE ARE MANY REASONS LUTH MAY CALL YOU.. BUT NEVER NEVER EVER TO THEY TRY TO SELL YOU ANYTHING OR ASK FOR YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. IF THEY DO, THAT IS NOT LUTH RESEARCH.

AND THE CALLER ID WOULD NEVER SAY LUTH RESEARCH, UNLESS YOU ARE BEING CALLED BY SOMEONE IN THE ADMIN OFFICE. THE SURVEY DIALERS ALWAYS HAVE BLOCKED NUMBERS, BECAUSE...DUH...ITS A LARGE CALL CENTER.

THEY ARE A REPUTABLE MARKETING RESEARCH COMPANY, WHO IS VERY WELL USED AND LIKED IN SAN DIEGO AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY.

AND THEY CALL ALL OVER THE U.S. AS WELL... THEY SURVEY ALL DEMOGRAPHICS...

AND NO THEY DON'T NEED TO REMOVE YOU FROM THE LIST... THE SO-CALLED "DO NOT CALL LIST" DOESN'T APPLY TO MARKET RESEARCH COMPANIES, ONLY TO TELEMARKETING COMPANIES (COMPANIES TRYING TO SELL U STUFF)

THEY ARE A REAL COMPANY, VERY REPUTABLE, AND THEY PAY REAL MONEY!

THE BEST/QUICKEST WAY TO HAVE THEM STOP CALLING YOU IS TO ANSWER THE PHONE AND TELL THEM SO. IF YOU DON'T ANSWER, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO CALL OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

i HAVE MADE ABOUT $800 FROM LUTH IN THE LAST YEAR, WITH VERY LITTLE TIME INVOLVED.

Survey
Sometimes, the caller doesn't leave a message.  This time, this particular caller did, and her call was not only legitimate, but thorough in its explanation.

She needed me for a $200.00 research session, in the floater position.  The work would take a total of four hours, which makes this a $50.00-an-hour one-time job.

Some years back, I signed up with this company and, unfortunately, today's caller called only on my mobile phone, instead of my landline, but luckily I saw I had a voice-mail message, and called back and reached the rep directly.

In your field below, CALL TYPE, there is no "other" choice.  This was not a survey, but that choice was the closest one from which I could pick (and I don't know what "SMS" is).  This call was asking me if I am available to fill a one-time position for an in-house (Calabasas, California) research study.

Dude, when you can make $175 dollars and not be a prostitute....yeah its a GREAT way to kill less than 2 hrs. Unless, that is, you don't like money......and BTW its not unsolicited, its something you have actually signed up and subsequently qualified for.  They are called focus groups and I have made almost $300 in 1 wk (2.25 hrs total time spent; that's approx. $131 per hr) participating in them. Pretty decent lil' supplemental income.

They're the parent company of SurveySavvy, which if you don't mind taken surveys, they pay decent.  I went to the city for a two day focus group and they paid me $100.00.  It took two hours of my time and was fun.  It all depends on if you enjoy doing this type of study and have the time.  I'll sit in a group and talk for two hours for $100.00 every day, if they ask me to.

Well they called me and I LIVE in Arizona, but I have a San Diego phone number and my SurveySavvy account hasn't been updated since my move so they think I still live there.  Not their fault that I've been lazy about that.

They always leave a message with me.  Maybe they were having phone issues when you got called and were leaving a message your machine didn't pick up.

Survey
It's the research company.  They got my number from SurverySavvy which I use often to make a few extra bucks and to learn about new products.  I get called pretty frequently to do these but only accept if they pay over $100.  I work from home and can easily take the time off whenever I want, but it's almost not worth it to drive across town for $25.  I got one once that was $250 and only lasted an hour and a half, though.  That's not a bad paycheck for a "day off".  So if you have some time they are easy and pretty enjoyable if you like learning about new products.

Survey
Luth Research on the caller ID is a legitimate research company.  They are the parent company of Survey Savvy.  They called me because I was suppose to test a product that I never received.  I have been a member of Survey Savvy for years and they are a credible research company.

They're not a telemarketer.  They may have dialed your number by mistake, or someone in your household is a member of a legitimate survey company.

I got a call from them about a year ago, and again today, but I didn't recognize the number. Last year they were doing a focus group on cell phones and I went and received $80. Today they were doing one on video games, but i didn't qualify. They got my number from surveys that I do online so it surprises me that they call people from out of state who don't do those surveys.

They called us "Out of the Blue" and we can not get them to stop!
We signed up for no survey of any type. When we told the person to stop calling they got nasty and told us we had to call their supervisor to have our name removed. BS.
We are also on the do not call list.

Survey
It was actually a local # for me, but I did not recognize it, so I let it go straight to VM. It was a representative from Luth Research, which is a company that I take surveys for online from time to time when I'm bored. They're not scammers, I've cashed out money from survey taking from them before. Granted, it's usually only 1$ or so a survey. It was an actual live person, who left me a message about a fashion survey they were doing in the area. Point is, they didn't call me out of the blue. Usually, if they have your #, someone gave it to them, or you entered their site - intentionally or unintentionally.

I have received this call at least 3 times a day for the past week. I do not answer it either. They leave no message and I am on a do not call list. Next thing I am doing is turning them in to the Do Not Call Registry.

I just received a call from this number at 10pm (Friday night..). And I LIVE in Oklahoma, not California. Your theory doesn't wash...

I didn't answer since caller ID said "UNKNOWN" and I didn't recognize the area code at all. They let my answering machine run for around 15 seconds before they hung up. If they were legit they would leave some kind of message...

This really burns me up! We're on the DNC, yet the calls keep a coming! 4/30/09: 6:07PM CT: I don't answer unless they begin the conversation. They actually said my name, but I hung up! It COULD be a survey place I filed a BBB against but, if the CID does'nt specify what Company it represents, they can always email me! Who knows? If it says UNKNOWN (which it did) then they can leave a message the next time. Stay tuned!

I dont see any posts on this page that would lend to your claim, the only people who recieved calls from Luth didn't pick up, the other calls came from 800 numbers. These posts dont really even seem credible. Luth research has no reason to call random numbers, I understand how telemarketers work, they (luth) are not telemarketers. I assume you didn't recieve a call from luth, did you. If they called you then you might be right, but I would be willing to wager they didn't. Do you even live in San Diego, if not there would be no reason for them to call you.

I take it you haven't had much contact with telemarketers. They don't need anyone to give them your number and they don't misdial, they're usually robot calls and call consecutive numbers in series. Notice that several of the posts here are from people who answered this call and got different callers.

Called yesterday, but I don't answer unknown callers. This morning I got a call from a different unidentifed number, but I was able to trace that one to a CA resort. No one would have given either of them my cell number, so they are indeed pulling numbers out of thin air. Blame this on the new law that allows telemarketers to call cell phone numbers [which you now have to pay for if you answer]

They don't pull numbers out of thin air. Someone you know gave them your number, or someone gave them the wrong number (if they call you). Either way, to blame them for it is absurd and it seems like a streth at best to consider their honest attemp to conduct research as an attemp to "thwart the spirit of the do not call list under the guise of research". Or do you never misdial numbers?

You have to be kidding us. 'it's a cool way to kill a few hours' Great, so I guess you have nothing better to do on a Friday night than dealing with an onsolicited call. They hide their company name from callerid and thwart the spirit of the do not call list under the guise of research.

Another company that hides its name and only shows their phone# on callerid and thwarts the spirit of the law under the guise of research. As with others, they don't bother to leave a message. May they rot in hell.

I was called this evening telling me I had won a 2008 Tahoe.
I was registered at a local mall. Caller then asked for a credit card # so He could secure my winning taxes....The gall of these people. The background sounded like they were calling from a loud call center.
No Thank you on the winning...I'm on a no call list and unlisted
I shake my head in all this....
I hope it stops

This was a female that called during our dinner to tell me I had won 50,000 from a mall drawing. She mis-pronounced my name, That was my first clue, Then she started to question me as far as do I use a credit or debit card regularly. This wasn't right in my head. Next she starts to tell me in order to claim my prize I needed to use my credit card to secure my prize....I Laughed and told her never to call me again.
Total scam on this call.
