They have been calling my house for about a month... I finally was home for lunch and just picked up the phone... They asked for my daughters parents and I said this is she... They went into her being in 9th grade and interested in College...said that they got her information from Test Registrations or College Career Day... my daughter has not mentioned this... She went on saying it is a prep test for in home evaluation for 30 days and then it would be $119 after that... I asked how to spell the company and she said it is with a K... Kathen??? University... Prep classes... I asked her if there was a website that I could view with my daughter and to talk with her about this, since it was all new... She said sure, but there is only a one time call per student and it was the student discount... but (in a really snotty voice) if you would like to view it online, sure that is fine, but you will have to pay full price and the web site is.... SHE HUNG UP... not sure what this is all about, but it sounds like they are really trying to scam people...

this person called and was at the least rude and obnoxious and tried to intimidate us and scare us with the fact that they knew our name and address......they need to be reported to something!

They call and ask for (last name here)'s parents and will not indentify themselves. Online it says the PBIS stands for Positive Behavior and Intervention Support and that it's used widespread in schools to identify "at risk, disabled" students.

Please catch this a**holes because they call my house every freaking 5 mins. If we aren't home to catch their cal; they will call us every little minutes possibles. I ready to cuss them out for this. I think they shouldn't have anyone phone number or even asking personal information that they do not have permission to have. I think this is scam that no one should ever have to go through. I think they just calling so often so we would pick up and do what they want us to do. the government or the congress or someone at least take action against to those who do these kind of prank calls. NO one should have to be annoyed or even be irradiated by this people. What has the world gone to? Is no one ever respectful anymore?

This number is constantly on my Caller ID.  I finally answered it today and some guy I could hardly understand was trying to sell me some college prep classes for my daughter at $125.  I declined and asked if they had a website.  He gave me an address that doesn't exist.  I am going to alert the school administration about this.  I think this is a scam.

Telemarketer
Called me today, caught me at home (I'm laid-off). Same pitch - said my son had signed-up for SAT prep software & all they needed was my ok to send it out for 30 days. Sales lady was nice when I explained that I was laid-off and gave me the uniprep web site & I also found this website.

Nice work - I could have been the next scam victim.

Non-profit Organization
This is a SCAM.

They called me this morning. The chick was evasive and 'politely rude', asking for my credit card even though I had at no point expressed interest in buying the material.

After I told her for the SECOND TIME that I never buy anything over the phone she got snippy so I hung up on her.
I did some digging:
No phone number you try actually goes to a human, only voicemail. My emails to them bounced back.

I think I actually enjoy finding scammers. They are not too difficult to spot.
They're selling violins online (on Craigslist), fake religion door to door (Mormons, JWs...) and they're flogging college study material that you can find at your library for free.

Make it a rule guys: Don't ever buy anything over the phone.

Take care out there.

Persistant calls, identified on caller id as PBIS same phone number. Yesterday I answered a call from them, no one was there, then I tried to call the number back, no ring.....today I answered , a man asks for either my husband or myself. He went on pretty much the same as with all of you. I realized he was asking yes / no questions. For the yes answers I made sure to say, "I dont know" I have been told to be careful, if ever this were to come to a lawsuit, they could be recording and use your "yes" to an agreement you are totally unaware of. As far as stopping the calls....I am thinking a bullhorn. What do you think?

Nov 7 2007- I have been getting calls several times a day for the last month. They never leave a message and when I do answer nobody seems to be there. Today on their second call I lingered on the line and a very smarmy sounding lady claiming to be with the University Prep Center went on about my son signing up for this testing and this was the one call we would get. I asked a few questions about when and where the sign up was and got very evasive answers. Upon asking if this was a third-party vendor she hung up without another word. I Googled the PBIS and University Prep Center and was shocked to find this site devoted to this scam. Good work! Thanks.

Telemarketer
Strange: very personable telemarketer claimed that my child had filled out a product registration card at a "recent school-based college prep event" indicating an intent to go to college and a desire to receive test prep materials. Gave a callback number (888-260-4306) which corresponds to the University Prep Center (url below). Pitched a potentially interesting product for $119.95, but when I declined to provide a credit card number immediately she hung up without another word...

Either a pretty good scam or a *really* bad telemarketing procedure...

Yea they first called my house talking about how I signed up for an SAT cd and all this stuff about the SAT and taking classes and how they needed like $130 and I had no idea who they were and what they wantd since i wasnt even taking the SAT this year, then they called again only i picked up and they knew my name and all this stuff and saked for my mom and when I asked if they had called ealier they guy hung up. It was very strange because they were telling my mom that I bought all this SAT stuff and needed to pay for it. I definitely think its a scam.
