Got the same type of call just now from "Mike Watson" with a VERY thick Indian accent.  I feel for these scams about 3 years ago, but now know better and have filed a complaint with the Mn Attn General who told me to just ignore the calls--which is what I have been doing!

Got a call tonight told me I was going to jail. I will report this number also.

Yes this Hindu person has called me many times. Very very rude. They keep telling me if I don't pay I will go to jail so when I said go right ahead I will get free food and bed for a while he called me horrible names. I just laughed and then he really became upset. I hung up, he called me back and continued to curse at me and told me I was going to go to jail right away. Btw Hindu accent, American name!!!! Go figure.

Calls and says he has my Social Security Number and a law suit has been filed, and that I must pay now or face arrest.  I called him on this, and said if this was real - mail me the paperwork.  He got rude stated cussing, I hung up. But before I hung up I said I was going to report this number.  Had India accent.

GUY WITH INDIAN ACCENT,CALLS SEVERAL TIMES A DAY SAYING I HAVE A DEBT AND I WILL BE ARRESTED IF I DONT PAY.

Man who sounded like he was from India called and told me that my husband should get a good attorney for not repaying a debt.... he called back three times in a row after we had hung up on him. This began months ago and the first phone call came through on my husbands cell phone... today he called my cell phone. He stated that he was from a law firm that collected debts.... nothing specific, only that we owed them 420 dollars from a loan in November 2012. After calling him out on the scam, he called my husband a "big dumb".... we have blocked the number from both cell phones.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

A man who cannot speak english to save his life keeps calling my cell and my work threatening if I don't call back with my attorney that legal action will be taken against me...... for what??? Called me at 6 am in the morning! I am reporting this number to FTC

These people from this 619-309-4156 called my work.  First it was a lady saying that they had my social security number and my bank information and that I failed to pay them.  The lady said I must appear in court on friday.  And without interusption a man gets on telling me I owe them money.  When I asked where I needed to show up for court he got rude and told me I would be arrested and hung up.

called 5 times in a row. left messages that were utterly unintelligible claiming that i or my attorney needed to call them back within 24 hours or face legal action. this is a SCAM! do not call them back, they are incredibly rude, even though i tried to explain that i was aware it was a scam. the minute they realize you are not going to give them money they become abusive. DO NOT believe them and give them money! REPORT this number!

Guy called,sounded like he came from India said it was a time sensitive matter he also. Said if I didn't get in touch with him he would send the authorities after me. I'm sure its a scam.

Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

He leaves his threatening messages and have the nerves
