Got a call today telling me that there was no problem with my credit card, but if I keyed 9 I would get a live person to talk to about getting a much lower rate.  Did that, got a nice cheery voice (real person) and when I told her I was wanting to know why I was getting such call since I a registered on the No Call List, she slmamed the connection down.  Could not get any information to prepare the report.

If you press 9, someone answers and refuses to identify who they are.

rec'd call asked to punch #9 to get lower interest rate.( who might not want that?) Got a rude woman who wouldn't answer my questions about who was calling. Simply stated she could reduce interest rate for all VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, AND AMERICAN EXPRESS ACCOUNTS. Wanted to know how much debt I had, said I didn't have any and she hung up on me.

This number has been calling our house for over a year.  Requested to be removed and they just keep calling.  If you give them a hard time they say something nasty or just hang up.  I don't understand why this is legal to call and try to get our credit card info "as they claim to lower our rates" and we can't do anything about it.

absolutely true. I get calls constantly on my cell and landline from this "credit card services" all with weird area codes, sometimes canadian.  I haven't been on the dnc list for 30 days yet so I can't report them.  I usually just ignore them but when they called me at 8 am on a sunday I answered, obviously surprising "Rachel", who sounded like she was 12 years old, and mumbled about someone named gus and hung up. Obviously there is no such business as credit card services--why doesn't the fcc or some consumer protection agency go after these scammers?  There are literally thousands of posts about these people, but they still get to keep doing it?

This call showed up as Cell phone CA. The recording was a female stating that she was with my credit card service and that there was not a problem with my credit card, but I might be able to qualify for a lower interest rate of 6.5%. I have been hearing about phony companies calling to try to get all your information, so I did not proceed any further

"RACHEL" from "Credit Card Services" is a scam/fraud to obtain personal info from you. The same recorded message is given from several different area codes including 813; 567 and 619.

These people are trying to get your credit card nos. to still from you. Do not give them any information about you , or your credit card . If you do ,you need to instantly cancel that card for a new one. Could cost you thousands of dollars if you don't. I hope this helps everyone on this site. Please spread the word anywhere you can to protect our elderly folks.

Call type is really a scam.

619-664-5916 says they want to lower your interest rate. Instead, they want to get your card number so they can run up fraudulent charges on it, or sell data to people who do.

NEVER EVER give out any private information to anyone calling you. You have no idea what they will do with it. Why would someone you never heard of need it. Any company you have heard of should already have what they need. If they do name a company you do business with, hang up and get the REAL number for that company which you already have on your records/bills/etc, and call that number to be sure you really are talking to the real company. A number someone gives to you over the phone is likely false.

I also have been getting several calls a week from 6196645916 about my "credit card", and am on the DNC list.  I have had no success through several attempts of asking to be removed from their calling list, nor getting a representative to identify who they are.  Has anyone discovered what company this is?

Just received recorded call identified as Rachel of Cardholder Services to lower my rate on my (unspecified) credit card. Just got a call from this number five minutes ago.  Recording says "currently no problems with your (unspecified) credit card, but we want to tell you how to lower your interest rate..."
Obviously, they're selling something, but how do we get them shut off?  They won't even identify themselves.

I have had internet with Centurylink for 6 months. We moved and I decided to get a home phone hooked up with the same number it had been using for my internet.I had called about 24 hours to see if it was unlisted and it wasn't so I told them I wanted it to be.That was August 24,2010 and 702-520-1486 calls at 6:19pm on September 7th with only the number showing no state.I answered and a machine comes on saying about Obama stimalius package about lowing rates for morgage and debts.I didn't hear what number to push for what.I thought it said for 5 to opt out and when I push it-it told me to hang up.It has been 2 days and no call from this number again.I live in a housing authority where I don't have a morgage payment and the other debts I have who has my number is with Dish Network that is still at Dish.Dish Network had lied to me about a $100 mover fee until we moved.I was with them for 6 months and they also raised my monthly bill.I had decided to pay the monthly higher bill so I won't owe anything and then they added $105 bill. They will not work with me to pay it.They will not let me cancel the service until I pay they said. That was when I had gotten this call and then earlier today I recieved a California call from a 619-664-5916 at 4:37pm and it said something about credit card.I stayed on the line to talk to someone and the woman asked for my name upfront.I told her that someone called my number.Half way through telling her what my number was-she hung up.I keep calling and a machine saids there is nobody to answer the phone right now and to call back later.I think Dish might have went online requesting my number for the places to call here.I am not sure.It could be that since getting the number without it being non-published for places to probably see for 24 hours could be it also.I wish that when you get on the phone with someone-they tell you why they are calling without asking your information.

Furthermore There is a simple law that we and all legit companies follow and its called the Patriot Act look it up and then you will have more understanding that there are rules and codes any federally regulated company follows.

Patty,

Lets use common sense here if you were called from card member services and they needed to verify your info wouldn't it be illegal for them to blurt your info they have of you out without confirming the right person answered the phone.  The call could be for Jim Jeffcoat, and Walter Payton could answer the phone and pose as Jim and then the info is given to Jim that is private for Walter and now Walter finds out and that company is sued.  Your info is asked to confirm that your the card member and legalities must take place to ensure no personal information is given out to the wrong person.  Please use common sense before making allegations to a legit cause.  Fair enough right?

Your message is not correct.  If a company negotiates with your lenders as a licensed financial adviser they can have the banks lower your interest rates with no negative impact to your credit.
