Looks like the caller is using some automatic sequencial dialer, since I see somebody from LA just got called too. Also the caller might be from outside US, because otherwise it's way too easy to be caught and sued. I don't know, last time, I got a call from 6144536303, similar stuff.

Just got a second call from this number on my cell phone. First time was a few days back and no message left. This time the guy left a message saying "you are still eligible for a renewal for your expired car warranty...this is the final call before we close the file."

I have received several calls from (623) 238-6228 recently (I am the same Brian who reported one here on January 20) and for the past few days, I have been receiving them every day.  When I have answered them, I have always heard an automated message about a supposed auto warranty expiration.

Got this call on January 22 on my cell phone. I've been getting these calls nearly every day -- a recording that says it's my last chance to extend my vehicle's warranty. Usually the caller ID shows up as "Unknown." This time it showed the alleged caller's number: (623) 238-6228. I tried calling it back from my land line, but the call didn't go through. Very irritating. At least there's no human who picks up at the other end. What kind of sleazebag works at a company like this one?

I never got junk/spam calls on my cell phone before. It has happened recently. The coincidence is that the junk calls started the day after I cancelled my realty trac subscription. Unfortunately I had given them my number during registration. I was obviously not expecting junk calls from them or anyone else. I read all the threads, it doesn't seem to be linked to cell phone providers. the two numbers that call me consistently are 623-238-6228 and 949-502-7787. Since I do not want waste my cell minutes, I have marked these numbers as junk so I don't pick up when they call. I agree, early morning or late night calls are annoying. My number is also on "do not call" list.

I received a call from this number 3-4 times this week, even one on the weekend.  The first time the call came in, i was hesitant to answer it since i didnt recognize the area code, but when i did, there was no sound so i quickly hung up.  The last few times they did not leave a message, but it was starting to spook me out. I was surprised and relieved to see this website when my husband googled the number.  Thanks for all your comments.

Gotten about 8 unwanted calls from this number. Attempts to remove my number were unsuccessful. Finally, I selected the option to provide my make and registration and got through to a "sales representative." TWICE now I've told them I do not own a car and both times they just hung up on me. I'd like to know how to prosecute this sham company in Arizona.

This caller has called a few times on my Verizon cell phone number. The first two times I got messages about how my car warrenty is going to expire. The third phone call I recieved (Jan 25th) I picked up, listened to the message, and pressed 1 to speak to a "representative." The unpleasant guy asked me for my car info. I said shouldn't you know, you are calling me. He said that he needed to verify it for security purposes. I responded, for security purposes you should know that I have an extended warranty. He oh crap, and hung up!! Who are these people and how do we get them to stop calling??

Automated offer for extended vehicle warranty.  Press 1 to speak to a rep. press 2 to be removed from the list.  Hit 1 and some one directly asked for the year make and model of my vehicle, I asked for their company name nicely and they hung up.  It's a scam.

third call from this number about expiring car warranty.
recording says "second notice".
asks you to press a digit to be de-listed or to connect with an agent.
interaction by pressing a digit would probably confirm you are "live".

Several FCC rules protect consumers who use wireless communications devices such as cell phones and pagers from calls or messages that may be costly, tie up the line, or deliver unwanted advertising.

*The FCC prohibits the use of automatic telephone dialing systems or prerecorded messages to call such wireless communications devices unless the call is made for emergency purposes or with the called party's prior express permission.

You may not know whether or not a call you received used an automatic dialing system. Calls to multiple telephone lines in quick succession often involve an automatic dialing system. Automatic dialing systems are used by many entities that regularly make calls to large numbers of telephone lines including telemarketers who rely heavily on such systems to conduct their business.

* The FCC prohibits sending unsolicited commercial e-mail messages to such wireless communications devices.

The FCC's ban on sending “spam” to wireless devices applies to all commercial messages - messages for which the primary purpose is to advertise or promote a commercial product or service - unless you have provided prior express authorization for the message to be sent. The FCC's ban does not cover “transactional or relationship” messages, which are notices to facilitate a transaction you have already agreed to. Such messages would include, e.g., statements about an existing account or warranty information about a product you've purchased. Finally, the ban also does not cover non-commercial messages such as political and religious messages.

The FCC's ban covers messages to wireless devices, if the message uses an Internet address that includes an Internet domain name (usually the part of the address after the individual or electronic mailbox name and the “@” symbol). The ban does not apply to “short messages,” typically sent from one cell phone to another, which do not use an Internet address. Also, the FCC's ban does not cover e-mail messages that you have forwarded from your computer to your wireless device.

*The FCC enforces National-Do-Not-Call rules for advertising calls made to personal (not business) wireless communications devices.

The FCC enforces National Do-Not-Call rules for advertising calls made to your personal (not business) cell phone. If you have registered your personal cell phone number on the National Do-Not-Call Registry, telemarketers are prohibited from making advertising calls to you UNLESS you (1)have agreed in writing to accept telemarketing calls from the business, (2) have established a business relationship with the business by a purchase or having some other transaction within the past 18 months or by making an inquiryor application within the past 3 months, or (3) have a personal relationship (friend, family, acquaintance) with the individual who calls you. In these situations, however, you may rescind the permission to call, end your business relationship, or prevent future calls based on a personal relationship by making a company-specific do-not call request. Advertisers have no more than 30 days to honor National Do-Not-Call registrations and company specific do-not-call requests. Such requests must be honored for a period of 5 years.

Determining whether an automatic dialing system has been used to make a particular call or identifying and locating a sender of spam can be difficult. The more details you are able to provide, the greater the likelihood that the FCC will be able to determine whether a violation has occurred that could lead to an enforcement action.
