I got a call from this number and answered it without looking at the caller ID. (I did that later.) The person on the other end of the line promised to lower my credit card interest rates. At this point I was certain that it was some kind of scam, so I played along as long as I could, putting on my best imitation of a decrepit old man. They asked a lot of questions about how many cards I had, how much I owed on them, etc. When I was asked for the last four digits of my SS number, I said I didn't remember and would have to go find it. I made a lot of noise opening and closing desk drawers for a couple of minutes. I finally said I had found it and gave them a bogus number. Then I was asked for a complete credit card number. I suppose I could have given then another bogus number but by that time I was so pissed off I let the caller have it. I told her that she must think I'm some kind of a f***ing idiot if she thought that i would do that. At some point the other end of the line went dead. I figure I had wasted enough of my time that they won't call me again.

They keep calling me and I am on the do not call list.  If I ask who is calling, they immediately hang up.  If I ask to be taken off their list, they immediately hang up.  Either a scam and/or extremely ineffective and rude employees.

I just got another call and the guy said "no" when I asked if he would take me off their calling list!!  He said no and hung up.  Who would want to do business with these people, anyway?

How do I get rid of them?

I swear to God if someone will just find out the parent company behind these A holes, I will start a report with the Federal Trade Commission against them.  They are a scam and violating the Federal "Do Not Call" List among other things.  Every other company who I've made out reports to the FTC has eventually been fined and/or shut down.

This is most likely a scam artist ....... as soon as you ask them to not to call you they hang up. They have been calling for ages using this scam. This is a very easy "scam" to figure out when you have no credit cards. So how on earth are they going to lower my rates on my cards when I don't have any. What they are counting on is that most people do have them (credit cards)and will make a call back out of curiosity and if they can pull off a good enough con game you will start giving out personal information.

Then you will be in real trouble.

This is a good example of where government fails the people. There should be a very easy process for letting educated members of the general public put these type of j*** off (scam/ con artists) out of business. (Meaning having an easy place to report it)so they can be put out of business as soon as possible, limiting the amount of victims they can trap. They would not be trying to pull this scam if they did not have a steady stream of victims. "God help" the folks that do recognize "what this is" when they get these type of calls.

I answered this call and got the same thing.  I got the name Bob and when I told them that I don't have a credit card and that I suspected that this was some type of scam and that I was going to report it, they hung up the phone.

I got a call at 12:25 am. No message. They just hung up. I never answer my phone. Probably the only way to deal with 'them'. Monitor your calls.

I admire Vino for putting so much time in this! I got that same call yesterday and posted it first here:http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-904-563-9668/2#p110906941422628215, where I realized that that had been going on for at least three years. Is there nothing that can be done to get these criminals into jail?

Got a call today. Recording talked about lowering my credit card rates and to push 9 to talk to a live person.  After a short wait, I was connected to a person and I cussed them out with some very choice and colorful words. By the reaction, she didn't expect it and caught her off guard. Since this is a scam, the number is fake and the people are crooks...what the hell. Made my day.

I answered this call and told them not to call me again and got "We will call back tomorrow." I have already tried to deal with getting the information for this company to give to my attonery to file a complaint again them for harrassment. I have gone as far as asking them to send me something to look at because my husband and I make these desicions together and have not received anything. The calls stopped for a while but have started up again.

Just got the first call from this bogus number. I am the target of credit companies calling on the behalf of a "client" who gave them the wrong number for someone they are trying to track. Unfortunately, it is my number. Sometimes I can call back the number and let them know the error. But in cases like this bogus number, I will have to wait it out.

This is called "spoofing".  My suggestion is to ignore the call.  Don't answer it, don't let an answering machine answer it either.  Unplug the phone line if you have to.  When these jack***es don't get any response, they usually move along to the next number.  You see what I'm getting at?  If you don't give them a reason to keep calling, then you're taking all the fun out of it for them.

AND...if it was a legitimate business with a legitimate reason to be calling...they would have no reason to be spoofing the number.  This must be a new SCAM, because I couldn't find anything on this number...except the first post here on this site.

since this is obviously not a real number, is this a way to get around the "do not call" thing?
