I have received 20 calls from these people. I have told them several times to quit calling yet they continue calling from a different number each time. They state they are from Global Marketing. When I asked how they know my card # they avoid the question other than to say it is because I am in such good standing. The card # they have is a debit card.

I just got a call from 626-273-8237 and I'm not in debt to anybody. So there has to be something else to it. I'M surpprised that you would make such a general statement. These people need to be stopped.

I know how to get these people to stop! You actually get some revenge in the process too. Keep agreeing to their questions, say yes, yes yes, I'm over 18, that's my address, that's my zip code. They already have your name, address, and last 4#'s of your card. I refused to give my zip code and let her know that if she had my street address she had my zip code. She eventually recited it. A # of verifications later, she went on a big thank you, I was transferred to a "Manager". "One last final verification" ended with "and you are over 18?". Well let me tell you, the "WHAT?!?!" when I said, "oh wait, you have to be 18? I'm only 16 let me get my Mom!" was so satisfying. She was PISSED!! They have not called back since. They would not stop calling when I specifically started using racial slurs and insulting Indians and threatening murder. Only when I did their WHOLE little song and dance, and wasted THEIR time for 15 whole minutes, did they stop calling. I tell ya, I was chuckling for hours.

Talking to Annoyed who commented above, you are the only one that thinks these people are bill collectors. I have excellent credit and normal debt, like house and car payments. These folks are trying to steal your card info to make fraudulent charges on your account so you can be in debt, by them!! They got my info after I bought a pair of Walk-Fits online.
They don't just use this phone number either. I've received calls from a 231 area code and 517-933-2009, all asking the same thing. I think companies that sell our info to crooks should be held accountable for their actions!!!!

annoyed, dont be so sure.
I dont owe any money and as soon as I bought miracle blade on TV i started getting calls from this and several other solicitor numbers. they are not trying to get your info for a debt collector, they are trying to get your info so that they can charge your credit card and then say you authorized it by giving them your info!
MY NUMBER WAS SOLD TO THESE AND OTHER NUMBERS BY MIRACLE BLADE!

I'm about ready to strangle who ever these people are calling....I mean they just won't stop. I'm not getting a recording but a live caller with a foreign accent who insist on telling me I won $500 and that they need to verify some information and no matter what you say they won't stop calling.
They even called my home after 11 p.m.

Please go to the FCC website www.fcc.gov and fill out form 1088B. These people are not going to stop until the gov shuts them down. Please put ALL of the phone numbers that they have called you from in the complaint.

I received several calls from this number. They tried to worm their way into my confidence using the last four digits of my M/C. The person calling offered a "free gift" to my wife. I told her to hang up on the motherf@#$er. She hung up and the guy (who called himself "Mike") immediately called back and told me that he knew where to find me and was coming over to beat me up. He repeated my home address over the phone to sound extra threatening. I invited him to come over to meet my 12ga.
I tried to call the number back to complain about Mike but it won't let you call back through.

Asking for info to send free gift after telling me the last 4 digits of my mastercard number

Bill collectors people...all of these crazy calls are from bill collectors trying to get your address to send you collection notices or serve you with papers b/c you are getting sued for money you owe someone.
| Annoyed 2009-02-19 14:00:35 Unknown |
People, we get these calls because we owe people money. Like everyone knows, they are phishing for our current addresses in order to start sending us the threatening letters of how we owe money and they are sending us to collections and then attorneys, etc., etc.
Why do all these posts seem to have people who are so surprised by this? Don't get me wrong, i'm in the same boat and i'm paying off loads of debt and have only just recently gotten it all under control, so i'm not finger pointing. It's just surprising to me that no one mentions how they are being tracked down by bill collectors. ALL OF THESE CALLS ARE RELATED TO BILL COLLECTORS.

I just received a phone call from this number at my desk phone and quickly picked it up since I was right there. I think I caught the guy off guard because it sounded like he had to quickly choke down some food. The background noise sounded like your typical boiler room of solicitors. He did not give his name and immediately started into his spiel, I just said "sorry" and hung up. Here's the interesting part; normally these people don't call back, but he did within seconds. I just let it go to voicemail and he left a 15 second long noisy recording of what sounded like crumpling paper over the phone. Maybe he thought this would be loud and irritating; it was not. But it did allow him to vent his feelings in a childish retaliation. In my opinion he just put his immaturity and stupidity on display.
I did a search fro this phone number using the usual reverse look-ups and such. All I could determine was that it was a land line from Alhambra, Ca. I did go to another phone and call the number. It was a recording that said something along the lines of "they only call businesses" and "if you would like you number removed from our list, please touch 1", then "thank you" and the phone hung up. Apparently they have caller ID working and maybe the de-listing is legitimate. Anyone care to chance it?

Just received a call on my cellphone today regarding this. Figured out early on it was unsolicited and hung-up. Then they called my office line, somehow these people have come across an MBNA CC list, probably sold to them by MBNA...should've have returned that opt-out form...

After calling several times during day and not answering even after I picked up the phone, they called at 10:25 night!! Said they are calling about Amex card. Which they had last 4 digits of my card. Wanted to confirm my address in order to receive some reward. When asked are you calling from Amex? Person said no, but they are distributors of Amex. Whatever that means. Definitely sounds like some fraudulent scammers. How can one make sure FTC / cop investigate these guys immediately?
| ChiefofPolice 2009-01-08 00:36:55 Unknown |
Same as above, Ditto, Ditto, We need a way to make these guys quit calling.

Calls me claiming to be with Platinum Plus Rewards having to do with my Mastercard. They ask for me by name, tell me my shipping address (which is also my billing address) to verify, and even know the last 4 digits of my card. They tell me that I've been a great customer and they want to send me a free gift. The only catch is, I have to pay for them to send it to me. Now I might have fallen for this if not for one detail. I've had the card since 1998 and only had the number they are calling on a year. The number they are calling is in no way related to any of my credit cards as I use my cell phone number to handle all of my business. I get this call from a few numbers and they are all the same pitch. The cost to ship my "gift" is anywhere from $1 - $6.
THIS IS A PHISHING CALL. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFO. THEY TELL YOU THE LAST 4 DIGITS SO YOU THINK THEY ARE LEGIT. THEN THEY TALK YOU INTO GIVING THEM YOUR CARD INFO TO PAY FOR THE SHIPPING OF YOUR "GIFT." ONCE HEY GET YOUR INFO, I WON'T BE LONG BEFORE YOU ARE A VICTIM OF A FEW FRAUDULNT PURCHASES.
TELL THEM TO TAKE YOU OFF THEIR LIST AND NEVER CALL AGAIN.
