Yes, everyone should pay their bills on time.  Unfortunately, things happen and sometimes people have to decide to make a car payment or feed their kids.

But in the case of this company, most of their calls are to third parties.  People who have no legal obligation to talk to them at all.

Since you are oh-so-responsible... spend some time learning the law.  This activity is harrassment and it is against the law.  

Some of these loans are more than 7-10 years old.  Each state has a statute of limitation on legal debt collection.  Most states curtail this collection at 6 years.  CPS can't even legally take anyone to a court proceeding.  But all of this changes is the debtor speaks to them.  It resets the clock.  CPS knows this and they are hoping someone will slip-up, not know their rights and be back in their sights.  

Do NOT talk to these people.  Hang up.  They will quit if you don't give them any reward.

These people are the scum of the debt collectors.  I have been called 4-5 times over the last few months.  They evidentally think that one of my relatives owes them money.  That might be true, but if it's what I think it is, the debt is well over 9 years old.  In my state they cannot even take the debtor to court to try to collect UNLESS they are spoken to.  This resets the clock on debt collection practices.  Check your state laws on debt collection.  Most forbid collection beyond 6 years.  Never give them your name or any other identifying information.  They will record every call and they will try to use it against the debtor.  You have no legal obligation to speak to them.  

I have heard, but can't substantiate, that this company uses the initial CPS to send the message that it might actually be Child Protective Services.  this is a subtle tactic to get you to talk.  Don't fall for it.  

NEVER talk to anyone about a debt older than the statute of limitations.  These predators count on you being ignorant of the law.

The number 630-288-2800 called my husbands phone today and left a voice mail with a call back number of 630-288-2875. "Kristin" said we were a contact number for some girl we have never heard of, and it was urgent that she get in touch with this girl. She even asked for my husband by name. I called her back (and oddly enough she answered the phone) CPS, I then explained that she had called my husband and was asking about a person we had never heard of. I then asked her where this "Angela" lived and she told me Chicago. I told her not to call us anymore that we didn't know this person and she asked if we knew "June" I again told her no and she told me that we would be taken off as a contact number and hung up. Guess we will see if we get anymore phone calls from them.

I've been getting calls from this number who sounds like an african american woman named Tiffany. She is very rude and threatening. i've stopped answering the calls and it all has to do with my ex husband. I've explained i have nothing to do with him numerous times. they claim its regarding a car loan n he hasnt paid so i told her to go repo it then... i dont give a damn its not my car lol

Terrell, an African American male with a woman?s voice (think that?s what she/he said) from CPS was of ill manners and of zero common sense with an obvious handicap, called and was rude- demanded I ?get his message out? to an employee- when I called back to talk to the manager, Terrell-y got on the phone and told me to ?get off my phone lady?.  I advised her/him that Company Employees in the field do not receive office calls. You can tell it was hard for Terrell-y to understand.  I will report Terrell-y and then try and forgive his ill manners do to his handicap. Like my mama always said, "stupid is what stupid does", not referencing Terrell at all- mind you-LOL!

My friend used me as a reference and they are calling me now if my friend islate on their payment.........that is soooo wrong.

this number keeps calling after i have reported to them this man called johhny jonhson  ..this is not his number... i feel this harssment to me .... i the person is very rude... i have even cussed them out sbout calling me ..ian sick of it ... stop calling me now.

This person called asking for a name "Jennifer" which was not mine, nor anyone who lives in our home.  When I told her there was no person by that name in my residence, she asked my name.  I told her I was not comfortable giving her that info.  She said, "Well, good bye then Jennifer" and very rudely hung up.

My name is not Jennifer, nor is there anyone in our home by that name!

Actually it was 630-288-2871, but it was from CPS.  Left message, a very surly one at that.

I am receiving calls daily, several times daily harassing me in regards to someone who listed me as a reference.   This is an African American Female claiming to Jolanda.  When I asked her the name of her company and the address, she refused to give them to me.  When I stated that I did not want her to call my home again she told me that she would be calling again.  After asking her at least 20 times what was her company name and address and her refusing and continuing to demand that I give her information, I finally hung up on her.  She called immediately back and the same process continued.  Me asking for the name and address and her continuing to refuse and telling me that the person she was asking for owe them money.  

Today I called back and found the company was CPS.  If this continues I will contact an attorney and file a class action lawsuit.  I know of several other who will join in this.  It is against the law for them to harass, threaten or give information regarding collection to anyone other than the debtor.  I wish the address in order to write a letter demanding not to be contact by phone by this person or company. I am also recording the conversation from this point on for evidence of the harassment.

This number is associated with a scam and not a legitimate company.

How do I know this?  Well I have received several calls from a company that does not exist.  I know it doesn't exist because they have no presence on the web: no company website, no websites complaining about them or praising them, which in the 21st century is virtually impossible.

Strike one.

Telling them that I am on the 'Do Not Call' list has no effect at all.  

Strike two and, for me, they're out.  No way I even answer the phone when they call.

However, one day I'm bored, so I talk to one of these scam callers.  They're using fake names, so I use one too.  We go 'round and 'round and the scam caller hangs up on me.

This week I got a call from this number, asking for the fake name that I gave.

Now, unless I'm living in the Twilight Zone and I happened to create an actual real person, then this is a scam number.

This is a true company.  They call every day for the last 6 years about a car that they pickedup from me when I missed my payment. They got the check and cashed it three days after they pick up the car. and the payment was only five days late.

I am the office manager for an employer -- This BI*** "Yolanda" keeps calling for one of my employees.  BI*** can get F****D!  Ratty a** ho!

received a call from cps/maria looking for charlie. no one by charlie here. i asked what number they called, she gave me my number but when i said there's no one by the name charlie, she said oh yes there is!

If there is a lawsuit, I would love to be a part of it - I have been looking for someone who is filing a class action lawsuit - I have also filed complaints with Ohio State Attorney, California State Attorney and FTC.

They like to play games on your phone. Even be rude or flirty but tries ti sy its about the bill . Very unprofessinal

An overwhelming majority of people complaining here are third party contacts ,  the fair debt collections act prohibits third party contact and harrassement .  Are you one of the guys that calls us ?

Great news that you filed a lawsuit as well , I don't owe a thing .  I  kept getting calls as a third party.
Now I record them and keep my phone listed , my first lawsuit starts in September .

I don't know why this company is calling me. Don't care. I filed a personal law suit against this company. Now it is my turn to harass them.

I get a call daily from this number trying to reach a shop employee. I have informed her several times that she cannot reach him at this number, as it is a business line, and she keeps calling. Very frustrating and very rude woman, calls herself Nora.

Yes the same is happening to me. I read I could file a complaint and receive up to $1,000 per complaint. Not sure where I read it. Maybe the FTC.

This company called my sister's house this morning - my husband listed my sister as a reference, however, the person they spoke to was my adult niece who was there visiting. She was not listed as a reference. They were rude, threatening, and condesending toward her and I am fed up. Last week, they called my husbands place of employment and was rude and threatened the finance personel there. We recently moved and instead of listing our physical address ont he change of address cards, I got a post office box in the neighboring town (post office is only a mile away). I did this for a totally different (personal) reason, but I don't think I will send them the physical address now after reading all of your complaints. I did just file a complaint with the FTC - which each and every one of you should do. I went as far as begging them to put a stop to this company "terrorizing" people because, in my opinion, that is what they are doing! I am going to do some research to find out how to get a class action suit filed against them, but I need to know that I have plenty of people that will go ahead with the suit it I start it. I will post back here as soon as I can find out what has to be done - then I will list forum where you can contact me with your information and complaints. So, how many of you will actually stand up for your rights and fight this company with me???

i owe no money to anyone, no loans. 3 calls this morning, called themselves cps, wouldnt tell me comp name, tried to confirm my name, when i wouldnt cooperate they hung up, and called again, and again. i informed them that they were calling a private cellphone that is registered to the national no call registry, she hung up again, im pretty sure its about a friend i aint seen in 10 years... and his car , but its been forever and i never helped him i just lived in same house for a month once. they were digging for personal information. oh well if they do call again im following registry procedure, 1st call imform them your on the list next report them to the registry if you recieve a call after informing them. after that its up to govt lawyers and them. get registered its worth it

The number associated with that is also 630-288-2833. A "Richard Martin" is the name he uses on the phone, but if you call after hours you get someone elses name. He is in Northbrook, Illinois. There is also a "Kevin Sullivan" that is supposedly his supervisor, and was SHOCKED that Richard would divulge personal information to a neighbor. After all, he had been with him for over 20 years!

Lies... I will find "Richards" home phone and address and post it here for all to see. Wonder how he will like getting calls at all hours of the day? Better yet, lets get a group together and picket the offices of CPS in Northbrook. Maybe we would get to meet "little Dick" in person??

I actually had a finance manager at a dealership tell me and my husband that he would lose a sell before he financed us with CPS. Now that's BAD!!!!

I received a call today from a African-American woman stating she was needing to get in contact with a name I have never heard of.  After talking with a friend she advised me the name of the person lives in the same town as us.  Although I don't know who he is.  I have contacted the Illinois States Attorney office to file a compaint as I am sure this won't be the last I hear from them.
