Called my wife's cell twice today within 30 seconds. Tried calling it back from my phon and got a busy signal.

This is EBAY's verification number. If for some reason they do not recognize the computer you are on they will call and have you press # 2 or 6 and give you a 4 digit code. Which you then submit on their sight.

Called home phone at 4:30 am with an automated Ebay message. Hubby hung up before listening to the whole thing.

They called me at 12:30 am & then again at 12:45 am...I was asleep!!! First one said E-bay and to press #6..the next one said #4...I believe this is a hoax...I hung up!

Called me twice in a row saying this is Ebay, first time to press 8 and second time telling me to press the pound sign.  
What is this all about?!!  Irritating!

I came home to 5 voicemails, all had a woman's voice saying, "Hit 5" or "Hit 6", etc. The caller ID says State Farm.

Called cell phone two times now, 6/1 @ 8:15 PM (when I picked up it asked me to press 2 if I was expecting this call from e-bay) then 8:19 PM and I rejected call and it left me an automated voicemail that just kept asking press # over and over.  I think this is a hoax too.  Maybe it is one of those calls where if you press anything like # or a number it will charge your phone bill or put collect call charges from a jail or something.  I blocked the number so they can't call me again.  When I called the number from another phone I got a fast busy.

called at 9:30pm  stated it was ebay as referenced above and to press 6 if i was expecting the call.

Called me at 4am and then again at 4:05am. Said they were E-Bay and to hit 5 for a special pin number. Called E-Bay and reported this. They said they are NOT calling people and asking them to press anything and that this is the first they have heard of this so they are now looking into the matter. E-Bay said if I get this type of call again to just hang up.

They called me at my office on a Sunday.  No idea how they got the number but I only heard the tail end of the message where it said "press 3".  If it is Ebay they're shooting themselves in the foot with this since they'll be loosing customers left and right with this.

I keep getting calls from this number that I do not answer.  It leaves no voice mail.  Calling it back got a busy signal.  Any suggestions for stopping this?

I had the same thing. I then realized (much later) that someone had stolen my ebay account and doing malicious activities. If you get this call, then check your ebay/paypal accounts...

Someone called today at 2:58 AM from this number.  Caller ID says "State Farm".  Answering machine picked it up, and the message consisted of something about 'expecting a call at this time'.

Thay called me at 4:20am.Wanted me to press 6 if I was expecting this call. I didn't press anything, and the message kept repeating. Ebay has absolutely no reason to be calling me, let alone at 4:20am.

I got this same call several times in a row!! I tried to call Ebay and of course you cannot contact them by phone. I do not have an acct. with Ebay nor have I been on Ebay.

After reading this information and other data, this appears to be an intelligent attack.  I received calls on both my cell phone and land line within minutes of each other.  I do not believe that the calls are legitimate for several reasons:
1.  I have been buying/selling on ebay for ten years, never had anything like this.
2.  The call system is not sophisticated--it cannot determine whether a human or voicemail picked up.  Even the most rudimentary systems used by legitimate businesses will detect that and behave differently.

Got a call at 12:07 AM!! Caller ID said State Farm. Message system said, "this is ebay. If you are expecting this call please press 3." Repeated itself 3 times then disconnected.

I received the same call last night at 1:32am, caller ID says STATE FARM.

I received a message from EBAY seller ?? and ask me to contact this number too (630-354-7000) .My caller ID showed caller is from STATE FARM ??. Any idea ??.

At 4am Got 2 calls 5 min apart from a voice message system claiming to be E-Bay and to hit 5 on my keypad to get a pin number. The ID said State Farm. I called E-Bay this morning and the person I spoke to said they are NOT calling people to verify anything...if E-Bay needs to contact you they will through their message system. I gave the E-Bay fraud division the phone number and they are looking into the matter. The man said if I get another call like this to just hang up.

Called E-Bay about this type of call and they said they are NOT calling people to verify info. If they need to verify anything they will do it through their messsage system. FYI...I have been a seller for 8 years and have never been given any kind of pin before selling.

Called me twice last night with the "If your not expecting a call from ebay push 6" ploy.  Didn't push and didn't answer second call.  Tried this morning to inform ebay that someone was pulling this scam but they (ebay)are so deeply insulated that you can't reach a real person even when you're trying to help them.

Called twice at 5am. If it is ebay, then either someone is using my account or entered a wromg phone number

I got a call from this number too, but in my case I WANTED them to call!  When you are a seller on eBay, eBay verifies your identify prior to allowing you to list items for sale.  They ask for your phone # so they can call you to provide you with a PIN number that can be typed into their verification screen, which allows the seller to continue onward with their listing of items for sale.

If you are getting these calls from ebay and you aren't in the midst of verifying your identity, SOMEONE IS USING YOUR NUMBER ON EBAY!  I would listen to ALL the choices on their voice prompt menu next time you receive a call, and press the one for reporting fraud!

This is ebay- if someone put there number in incorrectly on their profile than you are getting the call b/c they put in yours.  This is the number they call from to validate a payment when placing an item for sell.

Received callon cell phone, stating," If you're expecting this call from e-bay, press #."" Just hung up. What's the deal? Will report call to e-bay, as well.

Rec'd 3 calls also, within 5 or 6 minutes.  Same E-bay story!  I didn't answer or pick up.

Same invasive crap here! I've had to change my number! This means that every person who has passed my number on to someone else to contact me (as a musician) can't! This is going to cost me a year of my life to fix and I'll never know who has tried to reach me and given up! I hope that karma has his phone number and creates as much loss for him as me!

Called 3 times in 5 minutes and left a message that said "This is ebay calling.  If you are not expecting a call from ebay, press #."  The second one said the same, but said press 9.  Don't remember what the last one said.  
(Note - I did recently order and receive somethng from Ebay, but there's absolutely no reason I'd be getting a call.)
