I had a message from this number - it was just background noise.

We've received several calls from this no., ID says "Local Area Call". We never answer,  & they don't leave a message. We had rec'vd about 2 a day for a few days, they then called at 8:30AM! We ignored it, they stopped for a couple of days, now calling again around dinner time. I had looked it up here before, that's why ignored it. Also, we now figure if important, or someone we know, they will leave a message.

If this is another call from IL police, we've had it with them. They have called from at least 2 other nos., & we have picked up, given in the past (mistake), & I told them last time (when called from another no.) to please take us off their call list! I think these 'outfits' just use different nos. to fool you into picking up. We do donate to various charities, but 2 family members are laid off, we can't afford to now, & enough is enough.

They call many times a day not leaving messages.
Possibly "Fraternal Order Police" soliciting money for some reason or another .

I called back the number 630-427-4747 after I got yet another very rude call from them. The callback got me a recorded message that said the represent FOP Trooper's Lodge #41 and that I'd reached their automated information system.

Next, I located Trooper's Lodge #41 (it's in Springfield, Illinois) and called them. The first number on their website is no longer in service, but there IS a working number--and I got through! I told the alleged trooper what was going on and that they were suffering a terrible reputation at the hands of this soliciting company. He said they did indeed have a fundraising group and thanked me for the info and said he'd look into it. I gave him the number they're using.

Sometimes multiple calls daily. They must be scam artists. I called the number back, there was an explanation about "Fraternal Order of Police".  Scamming scum.

Message went on about how calling was the most efficient way for them to reach their goals. I guess our wishes don't matter. I was given a number to call in order to talk to someone so that I could learn about their goals. Like I care. They are scam artists, their goal is $$.

I answered just a moment ago, didn't speak, put phone down. In maybe 30 seconds, someone can on the phone line and addressed me by name. They waited a few seconds, then hung up--kinda like those folks who wanna "help" you with your credit card interest.

I've been getting calls from a different 847 number with the ID saying Apostle Penny.  Looked that one up and it's also people asking for money.  The other day I yelled at them when they called. Now I'm getting calls from this 630-427-4747 number.  Guess I'll have to yell at them too.

Strange message, something supposedly affiliated with Illinois State Police, but I think i remember hearing of similar scams in the past.

Get calls from 6304274747 every day, some times 3-4 times a day. Very disgusted with this person. Caller ID says local area code which is a lie. I want this stopped!!!!!!!!!!!

A$$wipes called me at 8:35 am on Saturday. Didn't answer and instead came across these posts when I googled them. Thanks for the Info, I'll be ready when they call back. Hopefully  while I'm still pleasant from being woke up on the only day to sleep in.

Just listen for a dial tone and press *77. THEY WILL BE BLOCKED!!!!!!

thanks for the comments about this phone number.  i was upset to miss the call.  they left no  message and the number was busy every time i tried to return the call. as i am looking for a job, it was upsetting to miss what might have been a job related call.  thanks again for the heads up.

This is a scam.  I got a few hang-up calls from it yesterday, which brought the number to my attention.

Just now I got a call that makes it clear it's a scam.  The man on the other end opened the call identifying as a member of Illinois State Troopers Lodge #41, which I noticed since I spent a week as a telemarketer for Lodge #43 twenty years ago and the detail of being clear that I was NOT a state trooper was stressed.  Assuming he really was a trooper who likes to telemarket in his free time, I said I'd noted this number for hangup calls the day before and trust nothing from it.

He started trying to explain the technical complexities of how calls that were not made from his line get crossed and identified to his number, so I asked him not to make stuff up and get to the point.  His response was, "Maam, I'm just your friendly neighborhood fundraiser for the children of 911 victims."  He forgot the angle of the scam mid-call, and I hung up.

How can I get these people to stop calling me?

I was switched from Comcast to AT&T! It was a big mistake!!!
And now I receive so many unwanted phone calls like this =>630-427-4747 & 207-493-2008. What is absolutely terrible.
Then the other thing: AT&T had sold my addresses - so a lot of promo I've daily in my mailbox!!
I feel bothered and I'm thinking I'd like to cancel the service with AT&T again!!

This is definitely not a police organization of any kind.  Police have not solicited donations over the phone for years.  These people are 100% scam artists, do not answer the phone, ever.  Do not give any personal information, ever, if you do answer.  They're shady, and the honest police officers they say they represent, never see a dime of this money.

Recently, we have found that there are telephone solicitation scams that are using the Fraternal Order of Police name in order to gain trust from the public and attempt to acquire money and personal information. Please be wary of phone solicitation.

keeps calling but no one there.. no return number.. disconnected.

Says they are solicting for Fraternal Order of Lodge 41 police-for fallen police officers families and for child I D, says they are registered with the state attorney to prove they are a real charity.  When I said I could not afford it man was very pushy, continued pushier until I hung up.

Another calling company soliciting money for the police association.......B.S.........police get very little if any of what's collected. don't give in to this one.

I kept getting these calls and I'd pick up but no one would answer. They are apparently seeking donations from the fraternal order of police and are a registered organization in IL.
I then called them back today and listened to the voice message which gave a customer service number to call:

If you listen to their entire menu, at the end they will say if you would like to be taken off their list, press 9. Then you have to make sure your name and number come up so that they can remove your number. Now it's done! All automatic! Let's see if it works!

They were getting on my nerves!

I too got the call yesterday and today but they never leave a message.  I wish I can add that number as Spam to my phone as I can on my computer!  Anyone know if that is possible?

Same here, called but no message. If it's Illinois, it's probably Quinn looking for more money from the citizens who Unfortunately live here.
