These people stated they have a GSA contract and are verifying contract contact information. They would not give me their GSA contract number nor their supervisor name/number. They wanted email address and negitiator of our GSA contract number. They are difficult to understand and appear to be improperly using the GSA as an authority to get information.

Well, Shill Alert, I don't provide any information that is not listed in our own employee directory which is available to the public

You don't mind WHAT? Apparently you don't mind running your filthy identity theft scam on the internet. Sad.

I am working with the federal government, I receive a call from this number every quarter. It seems that they keep their database with accurate information, the caller informed me that they work with SPi Global located at Illinois. Well, I don't mind because my information is all over in the agency's website, and their call takes less than a minute.

Called today, lady with an accent. Clearly a phishing attempt. Told her I'd confirm nothing and hung up

I rec'd 2 calls today (right behind each other). While I was retrieving the voice message, the other call came in on my alternate number. All I could hear on the voice message was keystrokes. This must stop. I work for a federal agency in the WDC area.

I received 2 calls today (one right behind the other). It went into my voice mail. When I retrieved the vm all I could heard was keystrokes -- nothing more. While I was picking up the voice message, the same number called again on my alternate number. I will be reporting them to FCC.

I received the call last night about 17:50; with the same information that you all have mentioned. A foreign male voice asking me if I am the person called and my job title.

Got the call today. I didn't think anything of it. I work for a gv't agency and my contact info is already all over the agency's website in big bold letters. The caller didn't ask for anything more info than what's there.

Just received a call from this number as well. The caller said I don't need to ask who they are, they are just updating their database.

Received a call a little while ago. Voice mail picked up, they left no message. I agree with the other contributors, most likely "phisherman". I work for the government, I am not aware of any contract to collect personal information.

Someone with a foreign accent called and said he was looking for one of our employees and wanted if the person still works at the location and needed the person's full personal information. That person said he was calling from SPI America and was helping the government find out information on different people. I asked for his name and he garbbled something and said the government had hired him. I told him I did not believe the government had asked him to do anything and even I knew the person he asked about I would not give him any information on anyone. Then I ended the communication.

My CallerID shows "From SPI AMERICA, LL". A Google search brings up

Workers likely get paid for each verification of employer, position, name & email address. Does the company sell verified email address lists? That's a question we'd all like answered!
Aside from that, save your adrenalin for things that really matter. If junk mail scares you, count your blessings.

Sounded like a prank call. I work for a Government agency, and the call came into my office line. The voice was unintelligible.
| Dan 2011-10-17 20:18:50 Unknown |
I just got a call along the same lines as posted here. Unintelligible female voice -- thought I heard the word "verify" or "verification" in there. Actually, called twice, the first was a hang-up, the second was a garbled attempt at communication. The caller didn't impart anything that might be confused with politeness.

this call is from a company that represents like a third party organization that updates contact information. It seems like they had a contract to update these information but they won't tell who's behind it. Does the federal government hired contractors for this kind of inquiry? They called me like a year or so and from what I heard they are from SPI Global..

The company behind these calls is clearly phishing for personal information to perpetuate fraud or identity theft. Report any calls you receive to the FCC. Their online complaint form only takes a few minutes to fill out. http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm

Very strange call. She asked to verify my phone # and e-mail address, then said "Christmas is coming."

These fools have called my office repeatedly for the last two days. They seem to be going down the staff roster. The woman who calls is unintelligible and will not give her name or the company she works for. She wants to "verify" something I think. It's obviously some kind of scam. I think I'll report them to the FCC.

did not speak - left phone off hook for almost a minute.
| Rhonda 2011-07-18 16:38:22 Unknown |
Recieved the same call and it was a female with a asian accent. I asked where she was calling from and she stated FBI something I didnt quite understand her because when she was asked to identify herself she exited the phone rather quickly.

The gentleman at the other end of the line seems to be working through our company phone list, calling to "verify" names, titles, and contact info. Not sure who he even represents, but does not appear to be up to any good...
