Because they lied to you. There is no judgement. If they do have a judgement against you they have to provide you with any and all information they have about the ORIGINAL lender who provided the ORIGINAL loan to you

I got a call from this number but didn't recognize it. I called back later. The guy was very rude and unprofessional. I asked who he was looking for and asked to be placed on the DNC list. He said they didn't have a DNC list, I asked to speak to a supervisor he refused. When he looked up my number he said they were looking for a Lee ? Then he said he would put me on the DNC list. This guy was a complete JERK!

These guys called me for a dept they said was 14 years old. I asked them to send me information and where I signed for what is owned. He (Hollis Hill, which is not a real name and makes him a liar) said he would not send anything. Bad, bad, bad way to do business or even collections. They are breaking the law.

Received a call from this number and when they left a message they did not state Company name or actual reason for calling. Other than to rattle off a bunch of numbers I didn't recognize and threaten to escalate my situation if I did not call them immediately. Seeing as I have never had a repossed car or any outstanding debt I know for a fact this is another debt collection scam.

Just got a call from this number and they didn't leave a message. I called it because it is similar to my dad's number who lives in Illinois. They had my name and social security number. The guy was very pushy about wanting a payment today and if I didn't respond back by 3pm they would proceed with legal action such as a wage garnishment, liens, court proceedings. I said that I didn't like the sounds of this since this debt was 12 years old and I was told by the company that the debt was owed to that they would be writing it off since I was unable to pay at the time. We just bought a house 6 months ago and this was not on my credit report. The guy did explain to me how it was legal to purchase a debt by having certain information. I won't be sending them any money but I will be letting them know that my lawyer will be contacting them.

Received a call from 630-599-5060 with a threat of legal action against me for a debt I owed. A search of the internet came up with a Lombard Financial Credit Services, 1919 S. Highland Avenue, Lombard, IL 60148.
Immediately told him to bring his lawyers on down to Alabama because I want to counter sue someone who is trying to take action against me who has owned no-one but my telephone company and utilities for a short period of time for years. Come on down boys I need some of your money!
This is the second call and on the third call I will sue for harassment.

I have a message from this number about legal action from unnamed debt. There is nothing on my credit report. Based on the information found here, as well as the vague message, I feel confident that this is a SCAM.
| JM 2014-01-27 18:51:57 Unknown |
Yes, actually there is.
Creditors and debt collectors have a limited time window in which to sue debtors for nonpayment of credit card bills. That limit is set by a state's statute of limitations. These laws exist to protect people from claims being brought after evidence has disappeared. Anyone with unpaid credit card debt should know their state's statute.
"In most states, the statute of limitations period on debts is between three and 10 years; in some states, the period is longer," according to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Debts that have lingered longer than the statutes allow are often referred to as "time-barred debts."
Time-barred debt
"If a debt collector sues you to collect a time-barred debt, you can have the suit dismissed by letting the court or judge know the debt is, indeed, time-barred," according to the FTC.
Debt collectors and consumer advocates, however, caution that the statute of limitations (SOL) does not prevent debt collectors from attempting to collect on debts. They just cannot successfully sue to collect the debts -- assuming the debtor shows up in court to assert his or her rights.

got a call from this number today, the lady was polite asked for a name I didn't recognize and I told her she had the wrong number. She thanked me and hung up. I don't know who she was with or what she wanted but at least she was polite about it!
| Monty 2014-01-07 18:07:07 Unknown |
Actually they dont have 20 years at all. There is a statute of limitations on debt collection. They age out after a few years.
Most of the ones here are apparently old debts that they know arent legally collectable so they use scare tactics instead.
