calls constantly; they're the magazine company that claims we owe them money

They've called at least 3 times and every time I pick up the phone they hang up.

If you want them to stop....make sure you do the following:
1.  document as closely as possible the calls even if there is no one there when you answer and if you don't answer.    If there is no one there they are supposed to connect 97% of their calls from a predictive dialer to a live agent with in 2-3 seconds, they don't, I've counted.
2.  Make sure you are registered with the Do not call list at www.donotcall.gov.
3.  If you do not have a prior business relationship with them (i.e. you don't owe them money), tell them to put you on their do not call list -- every predictive dialer has one of these.
4.  If they continue to call, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Illinois Division of Professional Regulations:

The more of us who file complaints, the more attention this scamming company will get.

They call me on my cell phone at least 10 times a day.  I answer every time (except when they call during class- I'm a college student) and no one is ever there. After about 5 seconds they hang up. When I try to call back, I usually end up getting hung up on.  This is extremely annoying and I just want to know how to get them to stop!

I get a call from this number once a day on my cell, they don't call my home. I don't give out my cell number to anything other than friends and employers.

I have never answered but after reading this I never will.

Isn't there a way to stop this?

I'm glad I searched the number. This is really annoying. They call about 20 times a day and never answer. Right now my mother is trying to get the number blocked.

I keep getting calls from this number they hang up as soon as I say hello, I spoke with Maria when I called back. She said they were looking for my niece.  Funny thing, this is my private company internal number that noone has.. not even my husband... The said she must have given it to them.  And to have her contact them.

After posting my last statement, I filed a complaint with the the Do Not Call registry. Hopefully something will come of it.

I've been receiving calls from this particular number for about a month now. Before that they were using a different number. They've been trying to contact me for some time now. It's annoying because they call at all hours and never leave messages. I know in the past my husband signed up for some magazine thing but we never received the magazines and then the calls started. Last year I actually talked to one of the company's representatives, she was very rude and never really clarified what the debt was for specifically. When she told me it was for a magazine subscription I told her that we had in fact subscribed but never received the magazines so we wouldn't be paying anything. I'm still waiting for them to stop harassing me.

I've also recieved calls from this number and the "specialty dept" number.  It only rings 3 times and no one here ever answers.  After reading these posts, no one ever will.  I've seen posts from Ny, I'm in SC.  My question is where are they getting the numbers?  Seems like some company we are all somehow affiliated with has given out our numbers, even cell numbers.

these people keep calling me and when i answer no one is there this is very disturbing to me. I wish they would just stop calling.

They've been calling me for about 3 weeks on and off, up to 5 times a day. When I answered they ask for a different name. I left it for awhile, then I called back and they wouldn't say who it was. weird.
I called my phone company and they can't block only one number, so i need to figure out how to stop them.

This number calls several times a day...the "caller ID" states "illinois call" but they never leave a message on the machine or identify themselves in any other way.....I have no clue who they are and refuse to answer, especially a caller that will not leave a message as to intent of call!

how do you block this number?

I've received several calls from this number over the past couple of weeks.  The 2 times I answered, they asked for "Charles."  Charles was the person who had the phone number before my husband & I...at least 9 years ago!  Unless Charles is still giving out his old number to keep creditors off his back!

They keep calling our house trying to reach someone that had our number 8 years ago.  Even though we tell them they don't live here, they still call five times a day. I've just quit answering.

I've been getting 5-10 calls from this number daily. They start about
7:00 am and continue through 10:00 pm. I've never answered any of them  
and now I never will.  Years ago, I ordered some magazines, but was told
that I only had to pay for two of them and would get the others free.
After paying for them, I was later notified that I owed hundreds of
dollars for the remaining magazines. DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM IF THEY CALL YOU.

Calls my house 6 to 8 times a day. No one answers when I pick up the phone.

I have been receiveng calls from these guys for a while now. I know it is an automated system, because I usually hang up after about 3-4 seconds because no one is talking to me. I remember way back when my husband ordered these magazines, and when we tried to cancel them, they said we had a contract or something and had to pay $500 to end it. My husband said he had requested certain magazines, but we received different ones in the mail. I don't know what possesed him to order in the first place. My guess is that whoever got him spoke so quickly, or left out key information, which would've made it more clear to him to NOT order the magazines.

I know some of you have probably already suffered through this, but if you can, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WARN ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY...DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TOO!!!

They called my cell phone 22 times in one day.I wish they would stop.I don't owe anybody any money,so I don't know why they are calling me

OMG!!! What has to be done to stop these calls? No one EVER answers or leaves a message....i get probably 20 calls a day from these crazies!

Its starting to annoy me... After reading all this though, im kind of eager to talk to the lady, so i can tear her a new one....

I get calls from this phone number and as everyone else mentions, the hang up the second I answer. I also get the same calls from a 801 # FROM Utah. When I called back I talked to "Mr. Klimek" who told me I ordered magazines for $19.99 per month for 24 months. (yeah, sounds like something I'd do) He also said they had audio, when I asked for it there were excuses why they could not play it and was disconnected numerous times. Called back and found out they would help me by taking only $200 instead of the original $900 haha yeah right! I asked what they could do if I didn't pay for magazines I never ordered? They just kept saying "it could hurt your future" then  I asked him to start recording so I could confirm payment, after he did his, "I must tell you all informaion is to collect a debt..." I asked him on tape if I didn't pay would it go on my credit reprt. He side stepped the topic and then stopped the recording and said he was doing me a favor and that I should pay it so it doesn't go on my credit report. So after the recording was started again, I asked about my credit report, he immediately side stepped the topic again and stopped recording. He knew he could threatenn to put it on my credit report on tape. Not on my credit report, never will be, not gonna worry about it. If they really had my info and I owed them $900, I would've heard about it earlier. They said it was from an order on Nov. 2004, but now it's Oct 07 and I first heard about it today. get a life. Be careful and report any verbal abuse to your local better business bureau. Their language and dimeanor is less than flattering.

the number 6306892847 calls me once an hour from 8 am to 10 pm and it is very anoying there is never anyone on the other end when i answer

Recently, we have been receiving phone calls from this # .  When we did not pick up the phone, they called back in half an hour later and again and again until someone picked up.  When we finally picked up the phone, they hung up.  Then they called back again. Finally, someone did talk to us but asking for the name of whom we do not know.  The next day, they called again and asked for that person again.

These People keep calling my cell phone at first they where asking for people i dont know!!!! Now i have been getting hangup calls from this number and It is very annoying!! I called last night to have my number removed and they called back this morn and where very rude to me then they hung up. I called and once again had my number removed. Lets hope it works this time.

STOP CALLING MY PHONE!

I posted earlier about this.  If you receive calls from this place contact your phone company to have a block put on this number and also contact your local police department because this company is scamming.

The caller states they are trying to collect a debt from 1997/1998 for magazines.  The purpose of the call is to make a deal and come to a settlement to settle the alleged debt.  BULL*HIT!  Scam all day long - don't give any information over the phone period.  If you talk to them, be just as rude as they are......even called me by my new married name that did not exist in 1997/1998.  Dont' touch this one with a 10 foot pole.
We only answered the call because of teenage boys in the home and figured it was a recruiter based on the caller ID.

I keep getting calls from this place as well. Within the last 6 months I have received calls from places in Florida and Utah as well and those ones I have answered and those state I owe anywhere from 300 to 500 dollars for magazines that I supposedly signed up for which is ludicrous. Who would sign up for magazines costing 500 dollars.  These places are popping up all over the place and are truly trying to scam people by getting them to pay for debts over the phone they do not owe.
