Understand the law. Not for profit has exceptions for the do not call list. Especially local politics, police, fire depot etc.

Panasoniic has phones that will block  calls.  I purchased mine on Amazon.  It's the best $$$ I spent.

Called here at 7:15 pm on 6/9/13 but left no message.  The organization mentioned in earlier posts is a legit one, Illinois State Crime Commission/Police Athletic League of Illinois (PAL) and they operate as a tax exempt charitable organization under an Internal Revenue code.  They say they are a "not-for-profit organization committed to public safety and law enforcement."  From information I gathered elsewhere, not-for-profit describes an activity, whereas non-profit describes an organization, although the terms are usually used interchangeably.  It still doesn't necessarily qualify them for non-profit exempt status under the guidelines set forth by the FTC which runs DoNotCall.gov.  Businesses must apply for status as a non-profit with the FTC and be approved before they are considered exempt from the rules regarding telephone telemarketing, even for charity.  Besides qualifying non-profits, political polling and calls from businesses with whom you've done business are also exempt from do not call list protection.  That means, they can call you even if you're on the list.  Would be fun to throw them off by asking them if they've completed the non-profit application process with the FTC before they go any further with their spiel.   Just an idea.........grin.

Blocked (630) 748-1841 a few weeks ago, I see from my call log they tried to call and were blocked 7:30pm yesterday. This morning 10am had a call that I picked up right away (618) 208-0783, there was someone at the other end who did not speak (and finally hung up after I said 'hello' four times). I'm linking the two numbers as probably from the same scammer who called to check number from last night after my call block. Now I have them blocked on both those numbers, and wait for his next move (you'd think they could take a hint)!

I Answered the phone " states attorneys office, how may I direct your call? " they panicked and said sorry, I must have the wrong number. Haven't heard from them since.

called at 830am,  answered because didn't want to wake up rest of house and son left for practice half hour earlier and when saw IL police, got a little worried.  they hung up.  I know better next time now.

caller id said it was IL Police Athl?  I assume it is someone soliciting for the "sheriff" they call at least once a year and are always ruide and pushy.  always want my money...since I have none to give I usually say that, but these days I don't even want to answer.  I'm so tired of all the pesky telemarketers.

They called last night and hung up when I answered on the third ring--with my company name.

Very aggressive and abrasive telemarketer which upon requesting to have my name taken off their list remarked "what list". Upon asking where they received my name: "we have everybody's name." Upon telling them again to remove my name since this is a business line: "donations are tax deductible."

I found an email address for them: isccpal@aol.com.  I plan to email them every time I get a phone call.

I have been getting calls from them for quite a while now, even though the first couple of calls I told them I wasn't interested and to take me off their list.  They call at least once per day and some of their calls are hang-ups.

Multiple calls from this number. Most recent 9/7/09 at 8:55 PM and when I answered the phone a female voice said: Please wait for one of our reps...
I hung-up when that happened.

When answered y9ou get "Thank You, we'll connect you with the next available agent."  I hung up.  I guess they don't care about the "no call List".
