I got a call from Rick for my 7 year old daughter. Really stupid freakin people, do you think I'm stupid? I called the place in which he said she had a debt and we don't owe anything.

Oh and I let him know it's illegal to misrepresent himself as a lawyer, than he hung up on me!

Guess you people believe everything you read on the internet. What a joke. I read that Microsoft is a scam also. Maybe you shouldn't buy a computer. I read online that there was a flying giraffe found in Australia. C'mon people. Just because there are scams out there, don't think every company that calls you is a scam. Guessing and opinions are not truthful. People are so quick to make Judgment.

I use this site all the time to find out like scams like yours, if you people would just quit scamming and shilling, our phones would be quiet and we wouldn't have to check this site for the numbers of more phoney collectors.  You are just mad because your bullying scam was busted and soon you will be suffering the consequences.  Good job 800 Notes and posters for making these scammers obvious.

I use them all the time for my collections and they get me paid, if you people would just pay your bills they wouldn't be calling you. So pay your bills and you wont be put in collections. They are not a scam, you probably are just mad that they found out where you are and now you have to pay or there will be consequences. Good Job PRA keep making these people that are past due pay.

I got the same message, from Greg Madison of PRA, only he was asking for my son who is overseas. I handle all his bills, so I know there is nothing in arrears. Since I've also been getting scam hang-up calls from a Montserrat area code on my cell phone, I'm not going to call this guy back in a hurry, unless maybe I see something in the mail.

Rick West from PRA left "urgent" but unintelligible message today. Checked here and will not call back.
It sounds like the scam continues.

My number is 631-225-4811, again 631-225-4811." Then he hung up. I have no plans of answering or returning this call.

Got several calls from these jack a***s for two weeks in a row at all times of the day/night whether I was sleeping or at work. They never left any voicemails until the last 3 calls and since I don't know anyone or do any kind of business with anyone from the 631 area code I don't answer these calls.

Finally on the last 3 calls some anal retentive sounding do***ebag named 'Tim Leavy' asked for "my" wife 'Bernadette' and said it was pertinent that we call him back and it was a very serious matter, oh I was so scared I had to look outside my window for a second to make sure this 5ft nothing 100lb call of duty playing pimple faced virgin wasn't outside!

First off I'm not married and don't know anyone named Bernadette, do people really name girls this anymore after the 50's??? lmfao secondly my name is not 'John' whom he asked for as well, lol

These telemarketers or collection agency idiots must have miserable lives trying to play bad a***s over the phone only to go home to a one room apartment with a pet hamster an empty fridge filled with only condiments and no food and no girlfriends or people that give them a second glance at any other time of day.

These guys find public records and pretend they are the real collectors.  They then convince unwitting people to give them their personal information.  DON'T GIVE THEM ANYTHING!  They call from various numbers with various names and do not adhere to the requirements of real bill collectors.  They probably are not even in the US.

Explain to me how paying a debt, you do not owe, is a good idea? Why should I pay extortionists trying to collect on fake loans? No debts here, so it's a scam.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Message on answering machine saying it was imperative that I call Rick West at 631-225-4811 about a serious issue regarding myself.  Unfortunately, I called, got someone named Brian and found that they are trying to collect a fictional $5,000.00 loan on some credit card that I never heard of.  When I refused to give personal information I was suddenly disconnected.  Obviously a scam!
