Tried calling back - got "you have reached a non-working number".  They've called my cell about 10 times so far.

The man calls my line, a restricted do not call number, ask for my wife then hangs up when asked to identify himself. Further calls from this number will be forwarded to the authorities.

Same deal as above.

I have a VoIP provider that offers a feature called Call Forwarding Selective. This isn't an advertisement, so if you want to find a provider that has this feature, search for  "Call Forwarding Selective" on Google.

I put these numbers in and forward them to a completely bogus number so if they call again, they get "call cannot be completed as dialed".  Works like a charm.  Never had one make it through twice.

Of course, you could forward the calls to the sheriff, or FBI if you really wanted to stick it to them, as the previous poster did!

Ok... got the call from this guy.  Yes, Guy, as in Male.  Sounds like he is a true NY person (has the accent, not hard core) that would be correct because the number came up with Yaphank, NY.

He asked for someone by name (person who does reside at this number) and stated that he had to talk to them because it was confidential.  Funny thing is, the number is registered to ME in MY name, not the other persons name.

Wish VOIP had a call forwarder.  I would forward him back to his own number, or maybe the authorities.

Just found out who these guys are... they are Household Finance Corporation.  Telemarketers.  I am on the National Do Not Call List and State Do Not Call List... this means I am going to my state attorney general's website and filing a complaint with tracking information... as well as the AGB of Consumer Protection.  This means they will get hit with multiple fines in the $4,000 per complaint range.

I URGE EVERYONE HERE TO DO THIS TO THIS NUMBER!!!

SO obnoxious. I ALWAYS get calls from this number then it hangs up right away. What the hell do they want. I googled it to find out what this number was and Im totally shocked to see how many other ppl are getting annoyed by them as well.

I have received a call from this number several times and they always hang up when i answer.  I have tried to call the number back and there is never an answer.

I have the same problem as everyone else seems to have, no one there when I pick up, I will see if my provider has the 'Call Forwarding Selective' option and give it a try and also pursue the 'do not call' recourse options!!!

if you are called and hung up on repeatedly by these numbers then most likely it is due to a "random call machine"  which will dial ranodm numbers for these "callers" to talk to.  Alot of these machines are were faulty and tend to dial and hang up on people.  I know this because my girlfriend used to work for a company called ChemLawn and she and others would "cold call"  people trying to sell their services.
          Now this was ten years ago and the machines they used then i guess sucked, so crappy and cheap or scamming companys who dont have ny money use these machines today/

We got this call a couple days ago and have been getting off and on for a while.because we dont answer these calls we just let it ring until voicemail which telemarker normally dont leave anyways.
even though i havent had a personal experience it seems to me whoever is calling, whenever a woman answers a male will respond asking for a husband and whenever a male answers a woman will respond asking for a wife.

iono it just seems weird.and it definatly could be considered as harassment.

I've gotten the number 631-504-5999 also calling me. I say someone calls the police and notifies them. This is the Suffolk County Sheriff's office (631) 852-8700.

My husband answered the call and the guy on the line asked for me (I was at work). Hub asked if I knew anyone in yaphank. I dont and i went searching for the reverse linsting and look whay I find - more people getting scammed - Who can we talk to?  I want to lodge a complaint. Does anyone have any ideas?

Just today I received two calls. Both times when I answered, no one responded.  And today was not the first time.  Although I will say it is not quite as annoying the frequent "This is John calling..." I often get!

They called my house and when I picked up they asked for my husband by his first name only. When I said he wasn't here, the caller (female) asked "is this his wife?" When I said "yes" She hung up on me. I feel like they deliberately tried to make the phone call suspicious.

I received a call from this number on my cell and they did not leave a message, so I googled the number and saw everyone else's experiences.  Thanks for posting.  Now I labeled the number in my cell as SCAM - DO NOT ANSWER.  Figured I'm better off not using my valuable time on those losers.

The same number 631-504-5999 called my house phone said my first name i said whos this they hung up. This is very annoying and i hope someone gets to the bottom of this.

Caller called, asked for someone other than the owner of the number/line, which is me.  He asked for my business partner.

I stated that anything concerning him can be told to me, I am owner of the company.  He said in his NY accent "it's confidential" I said "it's my company and my phone number" he hung up.

I wish there was a VOIP Call Forward Selective... then I would forward his a** onto the local Police/Sheriff/District Attorney's offices... that would clean his pipes.

This caller (1-631-504-5999)has been calling almost everyday.  When my husband answers the call, the caller would ask for me.  I refuse to answer calls I don't know. I have heard my husband and the caller cusing eachother out because my husband has told them to stop calling.  Just 5 minutes ago, "THE CALLER" left a message saying my name only!  Very odd for being a finacial mortage firm!!

I have been receiving these calls for several years, at least. The male caller always asks for  my husband. When I inform him he works very long hours and I handle most phone calls, he hangs up. Some times, he has cursed me for not putting him on the phone. Now, the number is showing up on caller ID, but I get a busy circuit signal whenever trying to call back.

Called and asked for me by my first name but the call was breaking up and they hung up.  Attempts to return the call were met with Overflow tone -  a "Fast busy- that usually means all circuits busy.

I just tracked them down...This Is Household finance and they want you to refinance with them...

Called my house phone.....said " five and a quarter my a??" and hung up.

Get calls frequently from this number--no message, and always a hangup if answered by person.

Called me today and no one was there...Hung up on me...tried calling back allways busy.....
