I received an identical call from Officer Thomas O'Brien from number (979)871-7189 from a man with a heavy hispanic accent claiming that he is calling from Financial Crime & Enforcement and there is a federal complaint against me. When I inquired what state the complaint was filed in, he did not respond, and asked the question again at which time, he hung up on me.

I got a call from a "PRIVATE" number - and the story matches a few of the complaints below of a South Asian man claiming to be from the Sheriff's office and there is a complaint from Officer Tom O'Brien from the Dept of Treasury regarding my husband for financial matters. He gave the number - 979.871.7189 to call to contact Tom directly to settle the matter or there will be a warrant for my husband's arrest. And he also ended the call with "god bless you". I called the 979 number above only for there to be background noise like a call center - it's some random location in Texas, not the Dept of Treasury.

Where do you file with the FTC - anyone?

This is a very well orchestrated and well rehearsed scam. i had a voice message on my home phone to call 646-751 0004 ,stating" in 30 minsI must call back and ask for thomas O Brian or else i will have an officer at my door to arrest me". I called the number, the accent was south Asian  male. he transfered me to "Thomas O Brian" who also has South Asian accent. he told me he was from Federal crime enforcement branch of IRS, i owe $2137 in back taxes from 2010 and if i did not pay in 45 mins and the money has to reach courthouse in NYC in 45 mins.or I will be arrested by the local sheriff ,who will be sent to my house. i was scared, i asked how do I pay this. He said i can send a check to IRS ,but their " website is down today " and so I have to buy " green dot money pak card from walmart, walgreens, 7/11, rite aid or cvs"  what ???!!!! IRS wants me to pay by green card?!!!! bought at a corner pharmacy!!!! So now i knew it was a scam ,but I played along.  He wanted to keep me on phone till I drove to the store to buy the green .card. i said I am on land line ( true ) . he wanted my cell # . I said I do not have a cell phone !!! so he says " you must go to a neighbor or a friend and ask to borrow a cell phone and then keep him on line and  drive to get the green card" !!!! I said ok,let me place this call on hold and walk to my neighbor ,he waited !!!! I  googled the green.moneypak card and saw the scam info, I kept him on hold and called local police station. No arrest warrant on my name . Great!!!  So I told him " I am unable to  get a cell phone from neighbor" , his reply -OK.and  he hung up. . I called FTC  and filed a compliant and have a reference number, I called State Attorney General's office and filed a compliant. I called Local FBI and IRS  too. These agencies must call these numbers and  trace the calls and catch these  scammers. And BTW i have the entire conversation recorded too . I may put it on youtube .

These people are very big frauds.. They speak with Indian or Pakistani or Bangaladeshi accent... Log a complaint with federal trade commission... report to local police, they use various phone numbers

I was away on vacation . Someone called my office and left his number to call and said it was urgent the number was 6319474795 when I called back someone by the name of Chris Adams with very intense Indian accent and said I had violation and there is a complains against me with IRS and when I try to ask more question he had started to avoid it and says when I some back from vacation I should call him back when I call back again after my return the number was not in service ?!!! I had just google that number I am surprisingly seeing all of these comments !!!!

I just got a call from Brandon Taylor  Fed ID number is PC 147258 from 214-960-3005 and said that my husband owed taxes in the amount of $3489.21 and if I do not pay by the end of the day arrest warrant will be issued and they will arrest him and its a non bailable one. ! This is the 2nd time I am getting such a call  !
How can we put an end to such threatening calls ??

Fraudsters.  They change the phone no.'s.  Sometime they call from 610-300-0249

I got a similar message. Of course, it is a scam and I did not call back. However, one thing to mention here is that the accent is not south Asian (at least in my case). It is Caribbean (or West Indies).

I received message from 1-631-947-4795 that she is federal agent investigating my crime ( like fat lady) that I must return call otherwise she'll frame Federal charges. I start returning calls but message box was full and could not sleep all night. Start calling moring 9.00 AM always busy but no room to leave message.

Finally late morning my call was picked up, The b*****d wanted my telephone to pull the record, uttered number, he forward to associated attorney, he'll not disclose his name or Fedral ID and mother f****r hungup. I understood that they are Ted Kenedy pigs imported with 1986 asylem or their contaminated breed.

It is wake up call for WHITE Americans to protect their quality standard and integrity, not to bring more slum dogs, pigs and monkeys to white society. My communities spreading corruption every movement in America.

Impact of this type of calls and frauds can get me in trouble, if I over look to return the real law and enforcement calls. I may consider phishing call.

I didnt receive this call but my relatives did in my fathers name. Saying the same crap about him owing money and will be arrested! Youve got to be the most disgusting and perverse minded to do something like that!!!

Voice message left from Officer Brandon Taylor with thick unintelligable foreign accent, speaking from a noisy background, warning of dire consequences if I don't call back, and blessing my day!  What a waste of time...

Same situation here. Guy named Officer Brandon called and left a voice message saying we have an affidavit filed against us and right now it's in our favor. Some other things in a very heavy accent... He said to avoid penalties we must call. There was a lot of noise in the background blending the guys voice and making it hard to understand. And something further on about legal documents being left at our doorstep and we'd be liable for everything afterwards.

No company name was mentioned but we did hear him say "...Department." They left the message twice.

he called our house  and saying is this person there i told him u got the wrong number and he said who is this then my husband got on the line and he told my husband he wanted me for the night for $ 1,0000  and my husband said wtf and my husband told him not to call our house again for he will call the cops and report him to the cops . the funny thing he do not know i have caller id and his name and number came up .

I got this call from  631-947-4795  It is a Landline in BELLPORT, NY. As soon as I heard the message I knew it was either some Indian, P*** or Bangla Deshi. They are targetting asian people because they know they can scare older Indian people. Neither IRS, State Police or Sheri f department will call you to tell you that they have a complaint against your from IRS. I have a friend who works for IRS and I told her about this and she said not to call back just ignore because it's fraud. Last time they called me from a different number and I Googled it and found out that this was one of prepaid phones. PLease do not fall into the trap of these people

I received a call from same number and the guy spoke in South Asian accent. Good thing I did immediate research and found that this is a scam and is going on with others too. They need to be stopped if they are fraud or else they will keep bothering innocent people. He said he was from American Law Enforcement Dpt and said his name was Officer Brandon. He said there was affidavit cased filed against you. They asked me to repeat my number which I did, and then it hit me how come they don't even know the number they called. It definitely sounds fraud. As i read other peoples complaint I notice they been saying the same thing to everyone.

The FBI doesn't arrest you for owing money, neither does the IRS..  You should also report this with the real IRS

I got the same call stating I had a warrant for my arrest when I was at work. They spoke to my wife and scared my family to death. I called back a man with Asian accent named" Brandon Taylor" answered. He made his threats when I pushed for more info he gave me another man same accent "Mark Thomson" who said the FBI was coming to get me.They must be stopped who do I report this to?

I got a voice mail message with a very think oriental accent (Vietnam/Chinese) that said I was under federal investigation and had unpaid bills.  It was hardly intelligible and also got cut off in the middle.  Since my voice mail records the caller number, I called back and I got another "officer" - he refused to tell me what company was but insisted he was from the Federal Government with 3 attorneys listening on a recorded line.  He proceeded to relate a bunch of consequences (arrested in exactly 30 minutes, confiscate my passport etc) if I did not clarify my intent - do I want to pay up or do I want to have legal proceedings initiated right there on the phone ? As mentioned by other folks on the thread, the person did have an Indian accent.  Seemed like a very clever way to cheat folks. Don't fall for it. i will see if I can report the number and the message they left to the IRS so they can issue a bulletin on this

Certainly someone with South Asian accent - tried the same fraud listed by others above. Clearly these guys are running a fraudulent scam and maybe targeting people from Asia - Beware......

Want to scare you saying that you have legal pending case.. blah blah... they say they are from Federal Investigation Department.... all to just scare the heck ... beware and tell your family and friends about it.

Got the call from officer Jeff Green. He was trying to fake some accent. Same crap. There is a legal case and that you can be arrested.

My daughter took such a call 5 minutes ago. The highlight was that she mentioned the accent as well. This time it was Daniel Smith!

We also got a call from this number today, someone claiming to be Chris Adams (the supervisor) also with a South Asian accent.

I got a  similar call. Saying I owe $ 2500 to IRS. These jerks should  be arrested. They said the police would arrest me within 40 minutes. I do not owe any taxes. Please let me know who I should report this to.
