I just received a text asking me if the item is available.

Same here had a car on Craigslist he tried buy by PayPal. I didn't received payment he said it was on hold and I need to pay his shipper now of 700$ out of my pocket. I told him I didn't receive no money on hold or pending in my PayPal. He would not give it up even when I told him it was a scam.

Just received several text messages saying the sane as above. Luckily I had the sense to do some investigating and came across  the above posts. Told the person our item sold so hopefully that will be the end if it.

I got the same exact message right now in a text, almost verbatim. The same exact line of BS and I thought it was legit. Unbelieveable. 636-388-8459

People are skrewed up. I honestly thought that it was a potential buyer. The person was trying to rush me into setting up a PayPal account and I'm like who is picking the truck up? When are they picking it up? Can't we do the transaction then?

The person was clearly getting irritated with all my questions. This makes me so madd!!!! (SCREAM!!)

I received the same scam attempt. It's amazing what our government can do, but they can't go after people like this.

It's a scammer.  But I wasted a lot of his time.  I just told him i did not have pay pal.  then i told him to just have his dad come by with the cash when he picked it up..Then he said i needed to set up a pay pal as the only way to pay.  So, I let him wait awhile then told him my internet service went out  And I asked for his name.  He said "an Paul Smith".  I asked for his dad's name too.  He ignored that.  I told him I would deliver the car to his dad for him as a nice surprise.  He said he already contacted a company to haul it.  I told him I would go to the library to use the internet and set up pay pal.He came back with some false company moving name.   I said wow sounds expensive!  I will deliver it for free cause I got nothing else to do. This really threw him...the reply was "What do you mean?"  I repeated I would drive the car to his dad for free and save him the transport money.  He said "los Angels"  I said ok, i need an address for my GPS.  He would not reply to that one.  So, I told him; sorry but pay pal would not let me have an account since I was bankrupt.  HA!

I recieved the same msg. As soon as I seen buying for my dad and I'm an oceanographer I knew it was a scam. Run away, run away!!!

I recieved the same message, wow what a scammer. I never replied once I started getting the line of BS. Run away people..........

Rec'd Text from 636-388-8459 located in Union, Missouri inquiring about a vehicle for sale listed on Craigslist in Los Angeles, CA.  Asks if the "item" is still for sale.

I just received a text asking me if the item is available.Not knowing i replied yes,  I just wanted to see where this area code is and i came across these messages. I did know these messages exist. When he response i know what to tell him, thanks to you guys.

I also am trying to sell something online and received an inquiry from this number if I still had the item for sale. Being wary I looked the number up and read the comments below and agree this guy is a scammer as my ad stated that it was CASH ONLY and I WOULD NOT SHIP the item. Some people just want something for nothing and will do what ever they can to take advantage of folks who don't know any better.

SO PLEASE, don't fall prey to this criminal, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!!

Asked if the item I was selling was still available.  After I responded yes, I got the following text:

"16363888459: Thanks Can you assure me that it's in good state and that i will not be disappointed with it.I'm ready to pay your asking price and to be honest, i wanted to buy this for my dad, but the issue is i am an oceanographer and i do have a contract to go for which starts tomorrow and am leaving any moment from now.The contract is strictly no call due to the lack of reception on the sea area. But I'm able to access email anytime as we will make use of laptop so my only quickest payment option is PayPal as i can send money via PayPal anytime. We called paypal and found that this is a scam. I have tried to tell him repeatedly that we are not interested in selling him the item, and he will not take no for an answer. He's even texting me at 1am.

Got a text while trying to cell a vehicle.  Asked if it was still available.  After I responded yes, I got the following text:

Told him I was not interested.  Run, run away as fast you can..

individual wanted to know if my vehicle was for sale and wanted to pay by Paypal. Asked many personal account information and paypal email address. Do not give this individual any information.

do not give this number any personal information.  person contacts by text claiming to want to pay you by Paypal for something you have listed for sale somewhere.  In my case a 1970 Corvette worth 30,000.00 but claims only to be able to pay by paypal and needs my paypal email address and asks for some personal information.  The second that happened I knew I had a scamer....  Not sure what the the person was after but its amazing what they can do with very little info these days.
