I got a call from a officer mike walker from this too. He was a heavy middle eastern accented man. And constantly called me saying I had a bounced check or w/e. anyway I believed him a first call so he kept calling back and I looked it up to see if this was a kinda scam. Figure it is. I applied for payday loan and apparently it's apart of all this coming at me. Just wanted to put another of their aliases they use on here.

That is the guy I got calling me making threats. Liv Stifler. Screaming, yelling and threatening. He called my cell and work. It is good to know that loan companies don't sell your info. Yeah right! Lesson learned. Thanks for putting this out here where I know it was a scam.

I received a called from Police officer John Petterson from the Crime Prevention stating that I owe money that I rec'd via my e-mail, he had my DL number last 4 numbers of SS and the address he gave was wrong, and he stated that I would be arrested within 48 hrs unless I handle the matter out of court. He said that I had rec'd money into my bank account and that it was returned, and I  had (4) charges that  were being filed and that I would go to jail for theft by taking, bad checks, and some other b/s. Then he stated you can handle the matter in 2 ways either outside the  court or in court. I told him to do whatever he needed to, because first of all the police is not going to call and tell you they, are going to arrest you they just come and get you, and I second I have no ideal what he is taking about, he stated you are going to be sorry, I told him whatever and hung up the phone.

The funny thing is that I do Collections for a National Payday Loan Company, and everything that this man said is illegal in every single state! He called me a c*nt and told me to shove my job up my a**. As soon as I informed him that I filed a complaint wit the the Nevada Business Authority and that it was illegal to impersonate an officer and that I was recording the entire call, he proceeded to continue to call me names told me to f*ck off and hung up.

This is the second time in two years I have had to deal with these guys trying to scare me into paying them, last year it continued for about 6 months and they would call my place of employment 10-20 times a day! The new one is now saying he is office Kevin Smith. It turns out they get your info from when you apply on-line for a payday loan and try to threaten people into paying them. DO NOT send them any money it is a huge scam!!!!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

?Notify your banking institutions.
?Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
?Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
?File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

?Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
?Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
?Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
?Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
?Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
?When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements

Omg I thought this was real. I received 4 phone calls yesterday from Rex Harris stating that there was a criminal investigation because of a loan that I had with Cash Net USA. I called Cash Net and they do not even service NYC, so obviously I ignored the message. Today I get 3 more called from this Rex guy with the same thing.  I called him back at that number, but left a message cursing him out and telling him to leave me alone or he was going to be facing the police.

I got the same kind of call from this number.  The guys name was Rex Harris and he pretty much quoted the the same thing James(post above) said.  He called me numerous times a day accused me of fraud threatened to have me arrested at home or work could spend 3 to 4 years in prison.  Called my co-workers its a scam I fell for one other time from a number 814-334-1009, but i was able to get my money refunded by the bank.  I've just started to ignore his calls I'm sure they'll get tired eventually.
