I received these phone calls before and an email.  If the number doesn't look familiar and they don't leave a message, then it can't be that important.  The email said something along the lines of we've tried contacting you on your phone, this is the last opportunity to contact us about employment.  Thanks for your postings!

I just got the exact same message. Thanks for posting! Good to know what scams are out there before someone who is actively looking for a job may get their hopes up! This was the first time they called me and said they tried to reach me previously and was unsuccessful, which is completely untrue.

They (career network) has been placing help wanted ads in the name of a local company. However when I answered an actual help wanted ad from the company, they were shocked and quite upset to learn that career network had been placing ads in their name. Add that to the fact that the jobs being posted do not exist. They are nothing more then scam artists, if you see carer network hit the back button on your browser...... careful though, they may claim to be career builder.com. They tried that one just today.

I just got a call from this number and when I answered, there was no response.  This call was made to my cell phone so I just lost some time for nothing.  I too have been applying for jobs online... "This is really discouraging that you cannot even apply for a legit job online these days."  AGREED!

yeah, these bozos just called me a couple minutes ago.  I ignored it since it was an area code that is not around me.  I too, have been online applying for jobs. Dont want to hide my phone number just in case a real employer, who wants to pay me millions, calls me.

I've gotten the exact same message from both this number and a District of Columbia number, further proving these guys are a load of junk; unless this Jessica can magically move halfway across the east coast and has called every single person before she actually called them.

I had applied to a job on Yahoo HotJobs last week, but now it seems applying to any job online is a scam and a waste of time.  Oi, what a great world we live in.

I just got the same a call a few minutes ago from "Jessica" from Career Network. If someone is looking to "hire" me then I woudl expect for them to reveal what company they are upfront. This is rather annoying!

Received a call from them and I ignored the call because it was from New York. Same thing that the employee was anonymous. I am tired of getting all these fake people trying to call and email me. People are actually trying to work or is our bills also going to fakely disappear!! Its not a game.

I got a call from 646 360 1692. A recorded message came on when I answered and said that they were from Career Network calling for verify my application. I'm not working so of course I have been applying like crazy. When a live person finally came on the phone, he ID himself and said that he was verifying my application for a job that I actually applied for. He read back my name, number, home address and email address then asked if I was at a PC with Internet access. I said yes and that the information was correct. He said I was being passed to the next verification person and to have a good day. I don't know what to think because I did apply for the job he was verifying for. No company was mentioned. I feel a little leary and at this point, will not accept anymore calls. I called back the number and the same recording was playing that I initially heard. It is unfortunate the companies would SCAM and create a false hope for the many people who are out of work. Shame on them!

Received a call earlier this morning and dismissed it.  I did not recognise the area code.  Checking out the mumber I find all of this information and it is great to be able to find others getting these same annoying calls while looking for legit work.  Shame on them for being inconsiderate.

Just got the same call as everyone else. After reading the posts above, I think the common factor is hotjobs.com.  I'm not sure if I'll stop looking for jobs on that website from now on, but this is very discouraging.

Jessica from Career Network. She said they had called before, but they hadn't and that the prospective employer will remain undisclosed until they decide to interview me and to call 646-360-1692 to finish the application process. I have been applying for jobs online at HotJobs.com recently and thought this was a legit phone call, but the area code was way out of my area code. This is really discouraging that you cannot even apply for a legit job online these days.

I also received this call from Jessica and ignored it because the area code was not in my area.  I am very frustrated that this scam is going on.  I am also looking for work and thought that applying through hotjobs.com was safe.  I am also getting blasted with job scams on my email account after applying for a job with hotjobs.

Back to the old fashioned way for job hunting I guess.

I feel so stupid! I got all excited thinking I got a response to a job so I called back that Jessica person.(long distance!!!) I called 3 times and kept getting an automated message, then it would hang up on me! Finally I went to the website and wrote them an email explaining what happened. Like a dummy I left my name, phone number and email address. My boyfriend suggested I look up the number so I did and found out It's all a scam!

I received this call today and was not willing to verify the information that they where asking.  It appeared to be a scam.  When I would not answer the questions they said have a good day and hung up.  I called back ans wished to find out about their company and they said that they could not help me as I was not in their system.  This is a scam.  They are trying to steal peoples infor.  DO not call them back.

Same story here.  Had multiple applications online, received a call to my cell from "KENT" at this number, waited on hold for close to 10 minutes, they verified my name, address, email (what the...???  what are they phishing for?  It's all right there).  Asked if I had any plans of going back to school "if the I could do it part time, with no financial cost" and I said "sure."  From there the conversation turned away from the job (employer-confidential, within 25 miles of my home address) and to moving me over to another person that could help qualify me to go back to school!  End of call, I don't have time for this nonsense!

Since you are all looking for work as I am have any of you thought it could be a bill collector?  Anyone who works as a collector does something called skip tracing.  They use whatever they can to find a person and verify their information.  This way the company they owe money too can begin collecting the debt again.

Oh, that Jessica is at it again. I now have received four calls, with three messages. ALL SAYING: "Hi, my names Jessica, I've tried calling you once before... blah blah blah" Well it certainly was more than once. I will not call back, but it good to know other people are just as annoyed as i am. Damn the scam!!!! And you to (robot) Jessica!

Just got a call from this number and had one that I did not take with a 202 area code out of D.C.  I listen to the message and it said they wanted to verify info from a job that I applied for.  I hung up prior to an actual human getting on the phone.  I will not take another call from either number again and would advise others to do the same.  If a company is interested in you they will call you personaly. 9-22-09
