Called for my craigslist item scammers

Listed 5 items on Craigslist. This number inquired about 3 of them. Same text as others are reporting.  Told the wife it seemed to good to be true (no questions about any of the items and the items were so diverse it seemed unlikely that any one individual would be interested in them all , a quad, a couch and a handicapped chair/scooter lift,. Still could not see how a scam would work as he said not to contact him until check cleared the bank, but then he said he would send $200 more than acual amount for his private moving company.  Why would someone who has a moving company need to send me money to give them?  And why would someone from New York buy things in Okla. they could easily find closer to home?  It felt wrong and as this page proves, it is.

Received text message about craigslist ad for truck I am  selling.  Without any questions the text stated he/she will send money to my pay pal account plus 3.9% for the paypal charges.

This is a scam.  I too had an add in Craigslist.  same question ... is still for sale....how much... except mine was all thru text.  When I gave a different price on text, I knew it was a scam.  So I am still playing the "gave" with him.  Item I was selling was for $1650.  I told him $ 2000.00.  he sent me a bank check from Sun bank in Florida.  The routing number and account was legit, but the checknumber was not.  The account belonged to a county tax assessor.  He sent me $ 5000.00.  Asked me to cash it and send him the difference minus the Western Union charges to a name and address in NY.  By the way Western Union transfers arenot traceable.  That's their scheme.  Will not take your banks money order.  This is now going on for  4 days.  He is asking me for the MTCN number, secret question and answer.  I told him I could not give it to him, only to the reciepient of the Western Union.  Kept refusing, told him I need the reciepients phone number so I can pass on the info.  He kept on refusing so I told him I fedex the info to the reciepient.  Boy did he get irate.  The reciepient by the way is ( supposedly) Cyprina Joseph 10 N Fulton Ave # 3, Mt Vernon, NY 10550.  (and that supposedly is his private mover for the item).  Today I told him, I will not give him the information and that I will only give it to Joseph or we can cancel the deal and I will direct wire the money to his bank.  Quick response fromhim, he gave me Joseph's number ... but its a Los Angeles number ... 213-973-3275.  This can be fun.  By the way, I did not use my real name or ever gave my physical address.  beware... they are out there

These are bots responding to craigslist ads via text message. Before it was email only. Now the text frenzy started.

Mask your phone numbers when list on craigslist, ex:

I listed a 5 bottom plow and they said they would send a certified check from Bank of America via FedEx or USPS and handle the pickup themselves. Obviously a scam because there is no way they can pickup this item up themselves.

Forgot to say that this is definitely a scam. It's wishful thinking that something like this happens and it's happens to be legit. Don't be fooled by this number.

Just got a text from the same number Its a scam they ask the same questions as i stated them in my ad.

Yep.. my brother (not tech savvy) is selling a truck on craigslist and got this text too.  Quick google search pulled up this page.. thanks guys.. my brother sent back a text saying.. f'off

The guy is texting me every night at like 2am - same story for my 4 wheeler - Bank of America check via FedEx, will hire one of his private shippers to pick it up, etc., etc.

I have a hotwater pressurewasher listed on craigslist. This person sent a tex to my phone. Claims he wants to send a certified check from the Bank Of America and will have a private shipper pick it up. Sounds like somekind of a scam.

put an add on craigslist and this number tex message me wanting to run a paypal scan for my truck which i have advertised at 18,000.  watch out for these pay pal scammers on craigslist and kijjiji.
