This person also responded to my craigslist ad and wanted to arrange payment through paypal. She wanted me to text her some information to this number. Typical scamming email message... But I'm wondering how someone could send a scam payment to paypal at all?

I've been getting semi-strange e-mail inquiries as a result of a for-sale posting on Craigslist.  I answered the first from a "Kirsten Proutte" at kirsten555353@gmail.com without revealing any personal information.  Then, the response was a typical scam e-mail about a pick up company and PayPal payment.  I wrote back and said I could not meet her terms of the sale, but that she should call me at the phone number listed in the Craigslist item description (I did not write the number in the e-mail) so that we could make arrangements personally.  The only response I got was this phone number, which of course I am NOT going to call.  Either this is not a legitimate phone number, or if it is, it has been appropriated by some scammer.
