This is the exact thing that just happen to me.... PLease we need to get together and catch this man.. I called from my cell phone and he never answered but when i called back from  800 number he answered.

THIS NUMBER KEEPS CALLING MY HUSBAND PHONE SAYING HE IS IN TROUBLE AND IT WRONG THEY NEED TO STOP CALLING!

Steve anderson just did the same thing to me. I am not sure if anything can be done but I suggest calling your local athorites and moneypak and asking for your money back and say it was unathorized transaction and see what can be done.

A guy name Steve Anderson called me after I had done some research on the internet about loans over the web. He said I had been approved for a loan of $5,000 and all I had to do was send the first monthly payment of $175 into to him by using a moneypak card from Walmart. He said he was a broker with Cash Net USA and gave me a loan ref. number and his phone number. He said the $5,000 plus the $175 would be deposited into my bank account by 7pm that evening. After everything was said and done Steve Anderson took my money and ran.  I called Cash Net USA and they have never heard of him. I know there is nothing I can do, however I just wanted to report this so that Steve Anderson can't run this scam again.

New Variation on Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

02/21/12?The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) continues to receive complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. As previously reported in December 2010, the typical payday loan scam involves a caller who claims the victim is delinquent on a payday loan and must make payment to avoid legal consequences.

Callers pose as representatives of the FBI, ?Federal Legislative Department,? various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies and claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, or other Internet check-cashing services. The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment in attempts to obtain payment. The callers refuse to provide information regarding the alleged payday loan or any documentation and become verbally abusive when questioned.

The IC3 has observed variations of this scam in which the caller tells the victim that there are outstanding warrants for the victim?s arrest. The caller claims that the basis of the warrants is non-payment of the underlying loan and/or hacking. If it?s the latter, the caller tells the victim that he or she is wanted for hacking into a business? computer system to steal customer information. The caller will then demand payment via debit/credit card; in other cases, the caller further instructs victims to obtain a prepaid card to cover the payment.

The high-pressure collection tactics used by the fraudsters have also evolved. In one recent complaint, a person posed as a process server and appeared at the victim?s job. In another instance, a phony process server came to a victim?s home. In both cases, after claiming to be serving a court summons, the alleged process server said the victim could avoid going to court if he or she provided a debit card number for repayment of the loan.

If you are contacted by someone who is trying to collect a debt that you do not owe, you should:

Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
Contact your bank(s) and credit card companies;
Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
If you have received a legitimate loan and want to verify that you do not have any outstanding obligation, contact the loan company directly;
File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

I just got a call as well- I am past peed off!!!  Threatened to have me put in jail for 6 months- but could not tell me what kind of a bill i owed- because there isnt one!  The number that called me was 646-434-5045

officer james brown keeps calling me to fax a letter to him saying i will pay him he called with one name aND Left a message at my job then i called bac he was a foreign man then he knpwed my info but he is crazy he wants money the first name was charles

Report this man immediately because it is FRAUD. When he called my job and my co-worker took the message he claimed he was an officer. When I called back to ask him what predict he got really mad and said I did not say I was a officer. I told him I am going to give out is name and number to every police officer and predict and he just hung up. This is fraud beware.

Got a call from this number from a man who said he was an officer an with an investgaion firm and that we had a really seriouse problem. Didn't say who he represented or what the serious proble was.but wanted me to call him back. If I don't know, I don't call.

got a call at work this person foreign voice said they were officer so and so i said ok? they were looking for a nurse that used to work for my travel company..i told him no longer works here he said ok sorry to bother you sounded like he wanted to keep talking and i just then hung up the phone

Thank you so much for this, I am getting calls from a guy who calls himself Officer Brown, telling me that I have taken out a loan from Cash Advanced USA.. So right now I am trying to make a payment arrangement to get an address. He wants me to send the money  western union. restitution officer Mary Baldes Bradenton Florida 34205.

I just got a call from my job saying to call this number that an officer needs me to call him asap and if I dont good luck to whats coming my way. I called and it went straight to voicemail. Ifounded weird that a desk phone goes straight to voicemail. So I typed the number in google and this page came up. Im not a racist and im not from this contry myself(citizen by birth) but im sick and tired of all this f****ng people coming from other countries because their countries are so f****d up to come here to do illegal s*** instead of getting a real job and ding something good with their lives.

He just called me 20 mins ago saying I'm delinquent on a payday loan & hegonna send me to jail! ROFLMAO! I've called him back & got him on the RUN now!

Received a similar call from this # from someone also speaking broken english claiming he was somt type of officer saying they had an important legal matter and a warrant for my arrest.  I called them back and called them every swear in the book.,..which they didn't like at all! (So, maybe I'll do it again!)  I've gotten many calls like this over the last couple of years, threatening me that I'm going to go to jail cuz I didn't pay back a debt.  This people are nothing but total scammers.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION (I wouldn't even give my name when I called back).  You should report these calls and the phone #s to the FTC (www.ftc.gov/phonefraud) and the Attorney General for the state from which the call was allegedly made.  (Many of these #s are "ghosted" phone numbers, wherein the caller overrides the caller ID system with somebody else's phone number.)

Got a call from 646-434-5045 from Officer Kevin Carter (who spoke broken english) saying I have a financial investigation against me.  This is a spam call, trying to get money.  Do not call them back, or if you answer, do not give them any information.
