Here's a kicker. I got a call from a guy who said the number he was being called from was 646-457-4289 and another number. He said he had a "missed call" and hit redial and it rang MY phone in Arizona!!! This has happened to me a couple times where somebody said they hit redial and it came to my phone. Like Barbara (earlier post) the son of another lady called me and verbally abused me for wanting to "F" his mother and was going to call the FBI. Too bad the NSA doesn't monitor these types of calls and put these guys in prison!!!!

Just got same scammer on my phone. Knew my first name. I asked for his phone number and he said he was from Pegasus with parent company in California but he was calling from Delaware from phone 646-457-4289. Pakistan-ish accent. told him I wouldn't give up any information until I called to verify it.  He asked me what that would accomplish as he would answer the phone when I called that number.  Boy, he sure thinks people are stupid.  Cant wait for him to call back.  I have a surprise for him.  Ha.

Prank Call
Just got a call (Caller ID said "Wireless Caller") who said they were from the Windows support group and wanted to talk me if I was the owner of the computer. They said I had been "HACKED". Screamed at me in an accent that sounded German to be (sounded East Indian to another poster here) but what do I know, my property manager is German. Anyway, I told them about the Indiana Do Not Call list and if they call me again, their phone number will be billed $1000 by the State of Indiana which is true (no kidding!). They they became enraged even more and said that my computer had been "HACKED!!!!" and that they needed me to help them fix it and remove the malicious software. I asked what their credentials were and what they're company name was, were they employed by Microsoft, etc. They screamed they were not from Microsoft. I said if I agree to let them "fix" my computer, then it would be "HACKED!!!". Then, I said I was going to call the US Indiana Attorney General's office and report their phone number so they could be fined for calling me in the future. Then I hung up.

Called from 646-457-4289. The called had a foreign accent and did not give his name or company. Just stated he needed to talk about my computer. He said it was sending error messages and he would help fix it. I said really and asked him which computer it was because I have 5 of them in the house. His comment was F*** you M***** F***** and hung up. I tried to call the number back and it says the caller is unavailable. Go figure.

My mother received a call today from 646-457-4289. She was on the phone with a "Christopher"  who said he was in the "Windows Tech Department" at "Pegasus." She told him she couldn't understand what he was saying and asked if she could talk to someone else. "Christopher" got "someone else" on the phone, but "someone else" sounded exactly like "Christopher." Mom is 79 years old and only knows how to check her email, scroll, Like and Comment on Facebook, and pay a few bills online. She told the person that she didn't know anything about computers and he should talk to her son (me). He insisted that only she could do what needed to be done (probably told her only she had administrative rights?). He warned that her computer was at high risk of virus attack and that it had many errors that needed fixing. He directed her to the Windows list of normal errors to convince her that she had problems. He then led her to a website and proceeded, I assume, to guide her through a download and installation process. At this point she said, "You need to talk to my son. He knows about these things." I happened into the room and said, "I'm right here." "Christopher" promptly hung up on her. Like a dummy, I closed the website (it's not showing up in her History now), before going to Control Panel. I checked and there's no new installation under Programs, so I think she's okay. Her computer is protected by Norton 360 (not "at high risk"), and I'm running scan right now. I suspect these scammers were trying to hack her computer to get access to bank accounts, credit card info, etc.

I just experienced this phone call.  I did nothing they said, but asked for the (Windows technical support number)  the man hung up immediately...Hackers who make an attempt if possible take over you identity through your files kept on the computer.

I call Microsoft to inform them of the scam and impersonating of the company. They will be sending me documents so they can investigate, find these people and file charges.

David explained the call very very well.  These people call from different phone numbers continuously!! Caller ID doesn't appear to be correct when it is shown. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE TALK YOU INTO ANYTHING. THEY WON'T GIVE UP. THEY GET ANGRY IF YOU TELL THEM TO STOP CALLING AND TO HANG UP. IT DOES SOUND LIKE THE SAME PERSON EVERY TIME THEY CALL BUT ONE DAY FROM NEW YORK AND THE NEXT FROM TEXAS. THEY PROBABLY CALL FORWARD THEIR TELEPHONE LINES ALL OVER.
THESE PEOPLE NEED TO GET BUSTED. I LAUGH AT THEIR CALL CENTER RECORDING IN THE BACK GROUND. IT IS IDENTICAL EVERY TIME THEY CALL.

A woman called me from +1 (646) 457-4289 after receiving a call from a recording machine answering "Good bye" from another phone number +1 (210) 280-8487. Just after the first call I looked for information about that telephone number and I found that it is a telephone number used to scammed people with the 'Windows error sent from your computer' tale. They tell you that they are calling from the Windows company, because your computer has been sending error messages and they need to assist you. The same people call from both numbers. They have a foreign accent. I received a call from a woman, but most of the complaints that I read explains that the voice of the person who makes those calls comes from a man with an Indian or Pakistan accent. I start asking questions to the woman, but she figured it out, that I was investigating her, and hang up.

Got a call today claiming to be the windows technical department detecting attacks on my computer.  It claims to be in Wilmington, DE.  When asked, the person with an Indian accent provided the name of "James William" and even a so-called employee ID number.  He provided a call-back number 216-434-8914, which upon check, turns out to be a non-working number.  "James William" insisted on following his instructions to access my computer.  When I refused,  he brought on his supervisor "Jerry," another person with Indian accent.  It is undoubtedly a scam.

Same - caller sounded fr South India and said they had received an alert from my computer and wanted me to turn it on.  Said they were from "Pegasus Systems" and the guy sounded insulted when I said "are you from Pegasus Computers".  He insisted I had a virus and they had traced it to my system.  I asked what kind of software am I using and the person replied "Windows" so I asked "What version?" and he hung up.  This is a scam.

Said they had my name, number and address. My Windows computer is supposedly infected and every time I check my email online I'm installing very dangerous viruses on my computer. They wanted to install some kind of protection software to fix this problem.

I just kept the guy on the phone as long as I could and messed with him.

The numbers change.  They always claim to be from support.  I have asked to be taken off their list, but alas as they are a scam company that is not likely to happen.  I have laughed, I have had them say inappropriate things, I have hung up.  I wish I could figure out how to block them from calling myself or anyone else!

Got the same line as the other people, wanted me to turn on my computer because it had been hacked.Would not tell me what they would do to fix it. Things got pretty ugly with them calling my wife a prostitute and how I was an a***ole and would be sorry when they shut down my computer. The man had a strong Indian accent. Do not fall for this scam. Google or Microsoft do not call you on the phone. When called the number got message "Google voice subscriber not available, leave a message"

Ask them what platform of Windows do you show I use. Then tell them that's nice to know. Because I use MAC and I have never used Windows. But never give them access to your PC. If you do, you are asking for trouble. MAC users rarely have the problems we do when using Windows. My PC guy never uses Windows at home,  only at his PC repair shop.

This sounds like a call center. The caller claims to be calling from "Windows" (but not Microsoft) to tell me my computer has been reporting a lot of error messages and has a bad virus of malware on it. They ask if it has been running slow. They ask me to sit at the computer and type in a code in the "Run" application of the Windows toolbar, then remotely take over the computer, install a windows password so I can not get in once I reboot and then do whatever they want. When I try to log off, they block my attempt and after I inform them I want no part if this, hard boot the computer and hang up, I discover I can no longer get into my own computer! Cost me big bucks to take it in and have the password removed, and then I had to load a malware program since my computer started to send out fishy emails to my contacts. DON'T GO ALONG WITH THEM, IT IS A SCAM!

Must be a scam, they wanted control of my computer.  they said I had a virus and would show me hot to recognize it.  Very persistent and almost impossible to understand.  Should not give out any information.
