Debt Collector
I recieved a call from this company (the number was 646-918-5959) today from "Officer Frank Jackson" informing me that I have a warrant out for my arrest and to turn myself in immediately, he called my former place of business and my sister in another state with the same message. When I called the number he left back he told me that I was being charged with Violation of Banking Laws, Collateral Theft Fraud, and Fradulent check writing on 6/26/2011 by United Bank. When I tried to obtain more information on the charges he told me that either I would cooperate and pay the debt to them so the charges would be dropped or he would send the sheriff dept to my home and work to have me arrested. I then asked him again to confirm the information from the debt and he told me to have fun in jail and hung up the phone. I have tried to call back several times and every time I ask for an explanation I get hung up on. I just filed complaints with all of the above listed agencies against this company and I suggest anyone who gets a call from them do the same.

I have been receiving the same phone calls from an "officer" Frank Johnson but the number they are calling me from is (716) 541-0950. This man has called me at work several times also. When he calls he will not give me any information on what company this debt is for. I asked him who I supposedly owe money to and he told me he cannot tell me who the debt is for because they service thousands of companies. On one voicemail I received from him he said "if you are to scared to call me back, MAY GOD ONLY KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU NEXT."  This pissed me off royally. I talked to an attorney about what he had said and he told me it is a scam not to provide him with any debit/credit card information. Also to record dates, times and numbers he calls from and also if he leaves a voicemail to save it. Today I received a phone call from him and his number came up 911 EMERGENCY. I answered it because I did not know if my kids were in trouble or what and it was this man. I really want to know how to stop this man from harrasing me? If anyone has any suggestions please tell me because the attorney I spoke with told me that this was all I needed to do and he still calls me at work, home and cell. I cannot escape this man.

Thank you all for your comments. I just received a call today with the same threats against my identity and SSN. I had a strong feeling this was not legitimate. The "officer" Michael Black and "officer" Frank Johnson (both have heavy foreign accents) could not provide me with any valid information regarding the "case" they claim is against me. When I returned the call to them, they conveniently lost a connection.

Be very wise and conscience of the financial desperation that many face. You never know how far someone will go to gain access to your hard earned money.  Always ask detailed questions about matters concerning you. After-all it is your business.

Please guys understand that you can not go to jail or be arrested for a bad debit, So even if there lies where true the only thing a debit collecter could do is by a civil action not legal, Also they use the number 911 that shows up on your caller ID so you belive them when they tell you they are law infrocment, you dont need to answer because it says 911, Understand 911 will never call you unless you call them and hang up, When the police calls you its from your local area code with a number, 911 is an emergacy number used for people to call when they need help, out going calls do not come from 911, I had a call from these people the other day, but they called my dad and said he was officer Johnson and if my husband did not call him back asap there would be problems, The 1st thing I noticed about the number was it was an out of state area code and the law would not be calling from out side my area code, I also noticed that they had not called my number but my dads, After returning the call it was noticed when they picked up the phone with only how can i help you, it was not the law,My husband asked many time who he was and he could only say he was the law, and wanted my husbands full name and ssi number, After hanging up on him he called back and left a message on my cell yelling about a legal matter however he addressed the call to a woman i donot no, So he didnt even know who he was calling back as we used our cell to call him not our home line,  So i began to do reshreach, And found out if youve ever tried to take out a pay day loan or did take a loan this is where they got your info and relized they had called my dad because we used him on the loan as our refence and his number was still the same but my number had since changed, Even thou this loan was took out over five years ago they had my husbands info, They usaly have you ssi, phone number and work number address ext when calling and they use this to scare you into sending money western union, They are out of country and get you to send money in a name however over seas you do not need ID to pick up funds only the code number......The best thing to do when getting these calls is never give them info, never fax a letter over or you id, never give you ssi number, changing your number will help but you can usaly tell them you know what the deal is and youve called and made a report with your local law and tghey stop, Inform friends family and your boss of this matter incase they are called they know your not in trouble your being scamed to give them no info on you and hang up .

Just received a second call from Officer Frank Johnson of the Dept. of Law and Enforcement of New York City (646-470-3597).  Was not here for first call several weeks ago, message left, very threatening, but ignored it as I couldn't understand him and did not know what he was talking about.  Today however he become very loud and forceful even though I could hardly understand him.  Threatened to send someone to arrest me on the spot and take me to jail if I did not comply as to whether I wanted to take care of this lawsuit against me from some company.   I believe I was to pay $20,000 to some internet company or something, never really asked a specific number, but it was necessary to be done immediately for this person to continue to help me through this court action.  Finally hung up and he called right back while I took a call on the other line, also an Andrew Martin called supposedly for Frank Johnson.  He sounded very much like a she!!  I think that everyone needs to be made aware of this scam and the elderly especially need to be protected against these frightening scare tactics.  Thanks for your time.  Donna

THIS IS AN EXTORTION SCAM. Scammers pretend to be law enforcement (police, sheriff, Feds, AG's Office, fake cop agencies with made-up names) and may be using bought/hacked/phished loan application data to extort money or personal info for fictitious crimes.

Debt collectors using a rather sneaky and slimy way of frightening people into paying money to "alledged" debts. I'm reporting them to the FTC for abusive debt collection practices. You can do the same here:

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en

Just remember that you have the right to require them to PROVE the "alledged" debt. Here's a link to one (of many) sample letter to send:

http://credit.about.com/od/debtcollection/qt/validationltr.htm

Remember to send it certified return receipt required.

I just received a call from Officer Brian Daniel as well stating he was trying to reach a mutual friend of mine and it was in reference to a legal matter.  He had a very strong accent and stated she needed to call him immediately and then he verified her phone number with me.  I honestly wasn't sure what was going on!  The phone number didn't make sense for the area in which I live, but I called my friend and she told me she has also received the same phone calls, but from a different phone number.  He also identified himself as Officer Brian Daniel to her.  SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!  The caller ID said Emergency 911 and scared me to death too!

Received call that says "Emergency 911" on call display.  Called me once, I asked who this was then they hung up, called back, I did not answer and they left me a voice mail.  Call is from an Officer Chris Martin that barely speaks english stating there is a law suit against my name and ss number and if I do not contact them they will take legal action.

I received a call from this number this morning, but it came in as 911 Urgent message.  The caller said his name was Chris Martin and he is with the Legal Department and that if I don't call back right away there will be legal consequences at my home and at my place of business.  These calls are daily from different names.  I don't owe any money, and I tried to tell them that but they keep saying I am in a lot of trouble and that my social security number is in trouble.  They have my socail security number.  I am not going to let them scare me.  They claim they will take me to court.  Good - I would like to speak to a judge and let them know how they are harassing me at work.

A threatening phone call stating that I owed 25,000 dollars to the BBB and cash advanced. Told me that I had until 530pm that day to pay or I would be going to jail. Guy on the phone could barely speak english and never asked for any identification information besides my name. Called the BBB and they had no clue who they were.
