I had also put on Craig's list my rv and got a text message from 646-504-3526 and they also said they wanted to buy it for his dad. The person also said he was a marine biologist. Checked out the area code and it is from NY. I hope he gets caught and no one falls for their scam. It seems to be some kind of Internet  provider.

Yup, the guy made off with my MacBook Pro. Of course he never paid. Should've been wiser I know, never used pay pal before but he's e-mail seemed legitimate. So yes DON'T trust that number.

This guy wanted to buy my phone. Seems pretty shady.

received a text from this number asking if my 3gs cell phones were still available.

Got this number inquiring about a laptop in Memphis, TN. I instantly noticed that the number was out of state so I answered with, "I see your number is not in Memphis so if you are a spammer stop now. I have no Paypal and will not mail the laptop. Cash only upon meeting in the Memphis area."
Of course, it got quiet. Then I looked up the number and awesomely found this page so I continued, "Yep, a quick Google search tells me you like to trick people into thinking you are a "marine biologist" who is "trying to send a gift to your dad". Paypay has confirmed that your email is a FRAUD. Nice try, a*hole, but I'm not as stupid as you think. Next time someone lists a Craigslist item that SPECIFICALLY states, "My area code is not listed due to RAMPANT SCAMMING" then you might NOT wanna bother with that person, you f*ing moron!!"
I know you're just supposed to ignore them after you bust them but I just can't help myself. My ad STATED I am wise to scammers but they STILL took the time to f* with me?! AUGH!!

Got the same type of text from the same number. Used a different story from the Marine biologist. Ask questions when you get these type of contacts and you will understand that it is a scam.

I got a call from the same # trying to buy something and saying the same story, He was a Marine biologist, trying to send a gift to his Dad for Christmas and would send money via paypal. After the legitimate paypal account is set up he sends a fake paypal email that the money has been wired but you need to send money to a transport service to pick up the item you are selling. Paypal confirmed his email was a fraud.

Caller responded to a post on craigslist stating that he was a marine biologist at sea and wanted to purchase my mototcycle via pay pal for his father. Did reverse look up and found the number registered to a landline in new york, ny. Scammer, i believe so!
