I just got this same phone call.  Talked with "Eddie" and "Charlie" ~ both had thick accents and were hard to understand.  They said it was Microsoft Support and that they might have to install a program that would last for ever and give me free support.  I hung up.

Received called from guy with heavy E. Indian accent saying he was from Windows Operations Systems and claiming my computer was reporting viruses to them.  The calling number came up unavailable on my caller ID so I made him give me a call back number and he gave me (646-810-6453).  Used the phony name of Gary Cooper (1940's and 1950's actor - See 'High Noon').  I called back anyway and sure enough they were scammers.

An individual with an accent seeming to be a person from India called and represented himself as being from Microsoft Operating Systems. The person answering the call immediately suspected something was not correct because the computer in question is an Apple. The victim asked for a number to return the call and was given 646-810-6453. Upon calling back, a male with a heavy accent usually associated with those from India, said that he was a manager and that the victim should speak to "Joseph". In both instances, the call recipient terminated the call. I advised the recipient to terminate all calls immediately from Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Security, the Security Center, or any other unsolicited call about computer systems. I further advised that since such the discussions are with swindlers, the more the person contacts them, the more likely the victim would suffer monetary harm. These are international criminals with a long line of experience of how to manipulate victims away from their personal resources.

I received 2 calls from a company claiming to be Windows Security.  They wanted me to allow them to show me how to speed up my computer by getting rid of unwanted viruses and update my security certificates.  As soon as I told the first caller that I would have my IT guy look at it he got angry with me and started arguing that he wouldn't be able to do it.  I then asked him for his number and said that I would speak with my IT guy and call him back.  He gave me 646-810-6453....needless to say neither myself nor my IT guy will be calling them back.

Just got call today - someone called our home phone and b/c my husband is in the financial industry, red flag went up.  We have a Sheriff here right now taking a report and talking to this person at said number.  What happened was someone called our home phone, my husband asked for the phone number so he could call back on his cell.  HE got a different person - yes, Indian and has been on the phone (well now the officer is) for 1/2 hour trying to get company name, address, anything so that he can go back to his company and report it, too.  Guy on the other end tap-dancing around, but IS talking to the officer.  I agree - SCAM.  They said company was Performance Mechanics, but I am unable to get onto the website associated with the company name.  HANG UP on them or REPORT then.

Yes, just got a call. They were asking for my mother, who would have been 90 years old, but is no longer living. Actually don't recall my mother ever owning a computer. But maybe Dad bought one and they were using her credit card. Wanted me to sit in front of the computer and do some things, which I refused to do. Never did find out what the scam was (?)

Same as everyone is saying. He had our name and said our computer had been sending error messages.  I asked what company he was calling from and he said 24/7 PC Help.  He said his name is Kent Andrews, but he had a heavy what sounded like Indian accent.  I asked for his phone number and he gave me 646 810 6453 and said he was calling from Florida which I thought was strange since I didn't ask where he was located. SCAM is written all over this!

Just received a call from Alex Martin who says he is from Microsoft. (yes, very thick accent and very hard to understand just like all the previous entries said here on this site) I asked again you are from Microsoft? He said well we are a department of Microsoft.  He said there are unwanted virus's on my computer and tried to get me to go to the start button into the programs on my computer.  I was skeptical and he understood and gave me the number 1-646-810-6453 to call back and verify.  He didn't want to disconnect and asked me to put him on hold while I call this number on my cell phone.  I told him no, I will research the number then call back and I hung up.  When I researched the number I found this site.  Shut down my computer and ran the virus scan, my computer is FINE!  This is a scam or else I would have been able to verify them somehow.  Please tell your family and friends.

Multiple calls re: Microsoft. "Alex" indicated he would answer any ? I had as I told him I was suspicious. He provided a married name I have not used in 15 yrs, and which is in no way linked to this computer or Windows acct. Told him bad time, he gave this #, which I searched and brought me here.

Report it to the IC3.  https://complaint.ic3.gov/default.aspx and to the ftc http://ftc.gov/ which of course is closed right now.

I got a call but didn't fall for it.  My 14 year old daughter got a call and I wasn't home...needless to say she wasn't as versed as I was and she made a huge mistake.  She allowed him to connect to her computer his name was Eddie from Performance Mechanics.....same # as above.

If we all file a complaint something may get done.  If we just complain here nothing will.

David Jones was his name, same thick Indian accent and I played along to the point where a technician came on the line to walk me through the more technical aspects of the service.  When I asked why they weren't giving me a Microsoft address (since they were Microsoft Technical Support supposedly) I was told this www.cds247.com was a subsidiary (yeah, right) and I should do as they asked, for my computers safety.  When I said my phone battery was dying and asked for a phone number they graciously offered to call me back in 5 mins which they did and any other attempts to gather details on them failed.  When I finally told them I was a computer technician and had traced their IP (a lie) I was cursed at and they hung up.  I have made a formal complaint to the Ontario, Canada "Do not call registry" but I doubt it will do any good.  Put the word out there people, it's probably the only thing we can do to protect our friends and loved ones from these scammers.

Called and after running a couple codes through the run command box, I realized they have no idea what they are doing and so I disconnected my internet. Waited until the logmein session expired. Called a couple of my computer friends and they said they had never heard of this. MADE ME SO MAD. I hate feeling stupid and that is how they made me feel. THIS IS A TRICK AND THEY WILL HAVE COMPLETE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER IF YOU ALLOW THEM TO DIAL IN.

URGH! I got this obvious sales/scam call from Eddy Wilson, HEAVY Indian accent. And the return number of 646-810-6453. He claimed that my computer was infected with Spyware, Malware, Trojan and Adware files.

I have protection software and checked for the last backup as he was on the phone trying to convince me I needed to check my computer myself (he could walk me thru it) or I could give him remote access. WTF? I clearly stated there was NO WAY he or anyone was getting remote access.

Since my husband is in computers, I was pretty sure we were OK - and as I look ed at our last backup (dated today! and all was good) I pushed for Eddy to give me three file names he was seeing from his end at Microsoft Technical department that warranted the call. He couldn't - and then I asked who he was calling. The name was a previous owner of the number (I have had this number for 5 years +) and when I mentioned that little tidbit, he went on to say how there databases aren't always current but the problem remains just the same.

Thank you to the previous post - I will also alert my mom, who is not so tech savvy. This would scare the s*** out of her. Cant they get these people?

Just got off the phone with a female with thick accent.  I could hardly understand what she was saying.  She mentioned some of the same things as those that have already posted.  I told her that IF I was having a problem with my computer I WOULD be making the call, no one is going to call me and tell me I've having online errors, and NO WAY would I be getting on my computer and doing what she asked me to do.  I asked her the name of her company, and she said PC Solutions and I asked her the number, which she gave me as 646-810-6453.  I said I'll call Microsoft to verify what she was telling me and if they could confirm it as legitimate, I'd call back.  It comes up as Unknown name and number on my caller ID.

A Matt introduced himself saying he was from Microsoft Tech Support. It was difficult to understand everything he said, as he talked with an accent - from India I think. Caller ID showed "Anonymous" as the calling phone number. Matt kept asking if I was the primary user of my computer. He wanted me to go to my PC and  stressed that I should be doing this myself, with no one else. He said he was worried that my PC was infected by visiting sites such as Google or Bing or he named a few others. While he was talking, I shut down both of my PCs on the chance he was somehow signing on. I asked how he got my phone number and he said he was from Microsoft Technical Support and that I'm listed in their records. I told him that I was in the middle of other things and said I could sign on from a public PC and print his instructions for what he wanted me to check if he e-mailed them. He said he'd call back. I told him again that I didn't have time to check anything right now and again asked him to e-mail what he was talking about, or snail mail it. He gave me 646-810-6453 to call back. When I searched on that phone number, I arrived 'here'.

Just got off the phone with "Victor Sherwood" who insisted he was in New York.  Had a thick accent and was saying the same as other have reported.  Calling because they are receiving messages that my computer is infected.  They asked me to press the window key and the letter R and gave me information to type into the file, network search screen.  I figured it was a scam and told them I had no time for them and hung up.

I then called my mother and warned her about the potential for her to receive a call as well.

I hate that we live in a world where there are so many folks out to mess with people.  How do they sleep at night???
