Called my mom and told her that her computer needed a license.  For $650.00.  Had her do a few things on the computer, like hold down the windows key and the r key at the same time. Gave her a legitimate company's website (legit site that has nothing to do with them).  Criminals.

Actually, CallCentric was the victim of a very malicious and concerted denial of service (DOS) attack a few months ago.  I wonder whether the people complaining about them might know more about that DOS attack than we do.

Just a few observations, and sorry for the cross-post, but I am copying what I said in that other forum for the same reason you are posting here.

1. The FCC actually REQUIRES telephone companies to provide an easy method to allow people to block their numbers by preventing the caller ID from going through.

See http://www.fcc.gov/guides/caller-id-and-spoofing .

2. It is incredibly easy for anyone to file a formal complaint at the FCC.  See, for example, "AT&T Won't Let This Man FaceTime His Kids, So He's Taking It To The Feds."

See http://www.businessinsider.com/consumer-fcc-complaint-att-facetime-2012-10 .

3. CallCentric has been considered one of the most reputable VoIP firms in the business.

See http://www.dslreports.com/comment/3050/85085 .

4. They have an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.

See http://www.bbb.org/new-york-city/business-rev ... york-ny-108713/

5. I can find plenty of complaints about other phone companies on the FCC.gov web site, but none about CallCentric.  Where are you finding these complaints?  The person griping about them at dslreports.com seemed only to be confused that you could combine separately priced incoming phone rate plans with outgoing phone rate plans.  But if you are buying a VoIP service and are not sophisticated enough to know how it works, you should stick to Vonage, buy a cell phone, or get a regular landline phone instead.  Why would you go shopping for a helicopter if all you know how to operate is a bicycle?

6. It is possible to get an outgoing plan without an incoming plan.  In such a case, you don't need to get a regular telephone number, and unblocked calls from you will provide, as caller ID, your account number, which looks like a phone number from non-existent area code 777.  (I haven't done that since I got an outgoing plan quite a few years ago, but the few times I tried it, that's what happened.)  But then you can contact CallCentric to complain about the caller and they will know the exact account number of the caller.  One thing you CAN'T do is use a phone number other than the ones in your account at CallCentric as your CallerID number unless you prove to them that the number you want to use is actually yours.

So I don't understand what Dijardin is complaining about.

[I make it a rule never to cross-post, but your inaccurate canard is reflected in two places, and it needs to be addressed so that one of the best anti-scam telephony providers I  know of is not wronged without a challenge.]

I have to take issue with you, and with the posting you linked to on another site.

I have been using Callcentric for a number of years. They ARE NOT a spam haven. Quite the opposite. Callcentric is focused primarily on the residential/soho/small business market.

Callcentric is one of the best resources available for STOPPING unwanted calls.  Their call treatment system is simple and effective.

They do not permit caller ID spoofing, with the exception that you are allowed to point your CID at a number you actually have service on (like a main number). This is a uniquely strict policy.

They do not permit ANI unmasking - also a uniquely strict policy.

Their user interface is simplified in an apparent effort to cater to the customer demographic I outlined above.

Anyone who doubts what I am saying, can simply create a free account at callcentric.com and examine the facts for themselves.

I have had a number of occasions to communicate with them over the years, and nothing leads me to believe they are in the spam caller business.

That said, ALL telephony providers, from AT&T, Verizon, and Level 3, to Callcentric, Vitelity, and VOIP.ms, all of them have some bad actors as customers. But because the last four names on that list are unfamiliar to most people, when they seem they assume they are somehow nefarious. They are not.

This is a case of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing. Please do not gather with the villagers, bearing torches and pitchforks. Because you are unable to reach the real villains, you seem bent on killing anyone you can reach. That makes you just as bad as the callers. Maybe worse.

I welcome those with thoughtful, substantive, and credible evidence that I am wrong.

In the meantime, I am wondering if the falsehood was instigated by those many predators who have been thwarted by Callcentric.

Hi seems as though these people are still in business even now. We know a few people who are getting harassing calls from them. So after a little research we believe the following. No other company doesn't let you *69 and get to the caller themself. Only this company CallCentric Wholesale Inc. So one of two things has to be the truth. A. They are the telemarketers B. They protect the telemarketers. So we looked up the ownership of CallCentric AKA Accatel and this is what we have. At present we are locating the rest of the executives and they will be added to the post later today. We are encouraging everyone harassed by clowns using this service (or possibly from this service) to call their local BBB and file a complaint.

FYI - The NY number seems to originate calls for SIlverlink Technologies  (3475th Ave, NY) and can originate calls from any of their offices in the world.   We have received several calls on this same number.....   most of them perfectly legitimate, some from the US, UK and some from India.     http://www.silverlinktechnologies.com

I have gotten this call and it does scare me.  They have threatened to go to my office and my home.  I just don't know what to do, once before I had that and paid them money because I was afraid of what they were saying, now their back.  Very upsetting.  They do have all my information that is what really scares me.  Anyone know what to do?

I get this call once or twice a day. The time varies. Sometimes I get notified of a voice message, but when I check it out there is nothing recorded. It is a hang up. I get the same thing with another number as well. I suspect that there are multiple numbers and that they are alternated.

A sales call. I called the number back and a recording gave me the option to press one to be put on a do not call list or two for sales call return. Recording said it would take approx 48 hours to be placed on the do not call list. We will see....

This number 646-810-6468 has been calling my phone sometimes 3 times a day - nobody on the other end IF i pick up, and no voice mail message left.   I had a similar problem with a different number after ordering some Acai Berry supplement for weight loss over the internet (which was a total scam in and of itself)...so not sure if this is related or not.

This number calls me once in every couple of days and doesn't say anything when I pick up. They keep hanging up and once I've called the number back, it went to some automated message that said it wasn't accessible and that it was an "Australian telecom" number.

I got a free trial of Maximum Burn off a website...a few days later this Indian man called telling me that he could sell me some for alot less.  He was very pushy too.  When I asked him how he knew, he told me that it wasn't important, but that I need to take him up on this time limited offer and wanted my credit card information.  When I refused his ploys he seemed really irritated, as was I.  He didn't call for awhile, and starting yesterday, he is calling several times a day.  I don't pick up.

I will be reporting this.

I too have been receiving weekly calls from this number. Surely, there is some government agency who can trace this number. I'm also on the national do not call list.  Where is the governing agent who takes care of this intrusion? Why be put on a do not call list if nothing can be done????

I now know who this is. I as well ordered the acai berry and colin cleanse products on line for an introductory offer. I finally had to cancel my credit card all together in order to stop the charges. Now I just have to figure out a way to stop the phone calls from these annoying people...there should be a law!

I called the number and someone with an Indian accent picks up the phone and says he's from Customer Service. I told him i keep getting calls form this number but no one speaks when they call and i want to know why. He said that there is a glitch in their system and apologized then proceeded to try to sell me some product. I told him i wasn't interested and to take me off their list. He said he would note the request and that i should not be called any longer. Will keep you posted.
