Yeh i got a reply from this Rev Dan O'Brian too. Email & sms. Being sceptical i googled his name, only to discover this link & realising he was a scammer. So thank you to all who help in exposing this kind of trash.!

Just got the same from Rev Dan O'Brien from Malaysia, same thing wanted me to send $950 Western Union, got Paypal confirmation, then the penny dropped, goggled his name...##%%hole. So be careful from scammers like Daniel O'Brien.

Rev o'Brian the looser who send  second hand stuff Malaysia, lucky I googled his name coz it seemed to easy and to quick to sell, thanks god.

I got scammed. This a****ole claimed to be Rev Daniel O'Brien, the money was pending in my paypal so i thought all was good. D****ead me paid western union (which i really knew was dodgy) for the shipment and then the c@#t asked for insurance and the penny dropped. Lost $550 but it could have been worse.

Hey, same tried this on me today - said he wanted me to sell my cubby from gumtree to have sent to Malaysia.  How suss....who would have a timber cubby shipped to Malaysia.  Used desoconnor32@gmail.com.

Yep good old dodgy Desmond O'Connor has tried to buy a mixing desk off me today.  Nearly sent him my details before googling his name and finding this.  He/They are using desoconnor32@gmail.com this time.  Told him to PO as Interpol are on their way.  He he. Watch out people...

Oh my god. Waste of my freaking time. 2 different people got me on the same thing. Whats the point? Lucky he only knows my email. Glad I didn't put my number up

Beware.... A,new scammer calling himself Rowan William who is a miner. So glad I googled gumtree scams. Like you have all said, too good to be true! Stay safe.

desconnor30@gmail.com (or hotmail or yahoo variations) is still very much active. Beware and just delete any messages you get from this person immediately.

Just had a scam from desconnor35@gmail.com.
Said he saw my add on gumtree and want price, condition etc but all of it was already on the add.
Have heard of these texts happening before as a nuber didnt come up. Lucky I checked as he is on this site.

I first got an sms from Desmond replying to my Gumtree ad and requesting I reply by e-mail. Unfortunately I did but after a few messages I could tell something was up. His response is word for word what is written here. He kept asking for bank details without worrying about the price of the items. HUGE SCAM!! I am now worried that he has my email address and name though.....

i also recieved a scam message from desmond conner,the same as andy. not amused as this guy used another name to contant me but email replies was desmond conner

Then I asked him if he was going to buy everything and he said yes everything and desperate asking for my bank details or PayPal, careful with this scammer.

Same thing happened to me today! Asked him a couple of times what he was interested in and said he wanted everything - checked him out on the net and he's been around for a while with the same old name and the same old tricks! Pretty dumb scammer if you ask me!

I got the same thing desconnor30@gmail.com.au emailed me telling me he wants to purchase my products, i asked him twice which products as i have a few up there and he said what are your listings? this guy is a scammer and needs to be caught

Just wrote this email below to gumtree... Make sure you report it.

I've received an SMS that asks me to reply to desmondconnor30@gmail.com.

Unfortunately for Desmond or whatever his real name is, he can't string an english sentence together, referred to my pram as 'product' and asked stupid questions that were already in the ad.

The stupidest thing he/she/they have done is also use the same alias so I was able to find a forum online discussing it.

I won't be replying to the SMS or email.

The stupid person left his native name for ID on the text that comes through and then of course his western alias for the Desmond Connor gmail address.

Yep, this guy just hit me up too. Likewise an Internet sales newbie, but it looked dodgy glad I did some research. Anyone who wants to buy a secondhand treadmill sight unseen then arrange for a company to come and collect it is dodgy. I am in the process of setting up a pay pal account ( no way was I giving him the requested bank account details!) but Like Jay I would be curious to know how I could be scammed if I did give this guy the pay pal details.  What's this guys next step? Is it the standard email back to say pay pal wont pay until receipt of item is confirmed by the seller?

Needless to say I won't be giving desmondconnor30 anything further (except a few curses,) but I would like to know in case he or another dodgy b*****d with a new gmail address try to scam me in future . . .

Got exactly the same as others....what's the scam? Do they ask for money from you before they send the purchase price to your paypal account? Or do they want to rip off your paypal account for ID fraud?

Holy crap  I got the same email selling my guitar on gumtree. The message came through early this morning.  He seemed to eager to buy it at full price without asking any questions about  it. something didn't seem right so I Googled the email address. Thank god I did.

OMG, I received the same email from this guy too.
I also supplied my PayPal email address to him. What can he do? Will he hack into my PayPal account or??

About to sell my phone on Gumtree.
The guy using email as "wlsncody01@gmail.com" mail me and show his strong interest to purchase the item. When thing finalize, he said he need to use paypal sending me. Then he send me 3 fake email claimed from paypal consultant. Then he said, he need more to transfer $200 to Nigeria as for his carrier agent.
All the thing just happened minutes ago. So p****off this guy!!!

No number came up just "toni-hajj' like it was already in my contact list.
