I just got a call from this number,its 10:30am Tue,ok why do they call and listen to my answering machine and hang-up,when they hit the Amachine why wait for the beep so I have to check msg,bunch of no-mind idiots,I hate telemarketers..Grrrrr!!!!

The travesty of these type of calls is that when you talk to the phone company (Bell) they say you have to buy a call blocking feature. Well guess what, the originating phone number is a Bell number so they are basically saying "Pay us to stop our customer from harassing you." Go figure. Who's to say the entire scam/spam phone call isn't a Bell company in the first place generating thousands of $ in call block extras. Pure bull%$^#, if any laws in Canada had teeth or any law enforcement actually had the willingness/time to track these scammers down we would live in a much nicer place. There, I vented for the day.

Same issue - many hangups - there were 7 in 4 days! And no one there when say hello. Tx for the tips! I may block them as well.

I got this call as well a couple of nights ago. I let my answering machine pick it up and listened to it.  Same as MarkB (July17) says...co. offering debt relief. I don't even bother with these types of calls, but hey...if they want to pay my VISA bill - lol ! We're in the 905 area code of the GTA. Really hate the calls that come early a.m. or dinner time !

called and hung up after the first ring.  Didn't even have a chance to answer, but registered on call display.

Garbled nasal voice then nothing.

I cannot wait for the end of September when a new service will be available in Canada ensuring that such calls are blocked... what a nuisance!

Just called here, on the distinctive ring number for my fax machine.  What a**holes, trying to telemarket at 9:25pm on a Friday night.

A recorded message from some jerk named 'Bill' offering 'great' deals on RV's.  He tells you to press 1 if you are interested...  I hung up.  I called back and it was busy...  some companies must be suffering when they have to resort to auto dialers...  bunch of idiots!

Yeah, got a call from this number tonight ... when I said Hello there was static and blank on the other end.

Obviously an automated call ...

VERY irritating. Hope this new "DO NOT CALL" system can stop this sort of thing.

I don't mind so much when there is at least a human voice on the other end that I can say "NOT INTERESTED" to. But it's the computerized message crap that really, really annoys me.

I wish that they would just make that kind of automated calling ILLEGAL, period.

The phone rang and when I answered there was no response.  What kind of a company uses this type of marketing?  I think they need to have better manners.

Called me this evening, a man on the other line said he was calling from the Motorhome Club of Calgary (where I am).  Considering call display said it was a New York number, I just hung up.

Did not answer. Checked 800notes first. People claim this type of call comes from a collection agency. They are right. The only problem is, I've never had credit cards and don't owe any money! But I know who does! I
got this call at 5:17 PM. These calls are initiated by a man that is really in debt himself. His name is Mr. Nelson Cashen of 3-178 Nepean St. He is a messed up superintendent for that building in Ottawa. He owes thousands of dollars and is going bankrupt. He started this thing with former tenants and a few old tenants he is trying to get rid of to make himself look good in front of his "fed up" employers. He will not stop harassing anyone who has not followed his rules when they lived there. Just type Cashen And Associates in the Google search engine and you will find a whole bunch of scams he is running on the internet. Or just type any of these phone numbers; 613-567-0231, 613-567-2104, 613-421-0519, 613-558-4002 and you will see a bunch of apt's that have expired because he is too lazy to remove the apt's that have already been taken. Little does he know, but we heard, He Is Under Investigation by many authorities.............

I want to know why, when you look at reverse phone look-up, the "646-827-4570" comes back "unknown".  Why should they have the benefit of remaining anonymous or whereabouts unknown, but they sure as hell have MY number and therefore MY address !  Talk about an invasion of privacy !  This "end of September" thing better work out  -  I'm just about ready to tell Bell Canada to hit the road and use nothing but my cell phone (where I don't even get wrong numbers - and never get any solicitation calls.

Well, if I ever have the pleasure of sitting on a jury for someone accused of finding and murdering one of these telemarketing sacs of s**t. I can GUARANTEE they will get a pass from me. Untill then, I'll keep fantasising about human garbage telemarketers being killed like a disease.

Oooops!  My bad.....

I have been plagued by phone calls from this number for the past several weeks.  Every time I pick up, there is no response as I say hello.. hello down the line at increasing volumes.  I usually give these 'Robo-Callers' 12 to 15 seconds before I hang up, but I have waited longer on several occasions to see what information might be provided since a phone number is sometimes provided to call back...  On these occassions, it is on average a 30 second  wait before the call is disconnected.

The frustrating thing is that I have registered my phone number on the Do Not Call Register through the Canadian Marketing Association - of course, it is a completely useless list, but if I ever do get a live person it gives added weight to my request for removal from their list(s).

Personally, I don't think that any company should be allowed to use these 'Robo-Callers' until the top excutives and decision-makers have all experienced what it is like to receive non-stop phone calls from no-one - usually at very inconvenient times.  Today's call came while I was using a soldering iron and has left my with a bad burn on my hand where molten solder dropped onto it.........

Got another tonight. Many others from Vermont, New Jersey, Arizona and Florida. When they leave a message, it's about a cruise manage to win several times a month - lucky me.

My parents get them too and so does my work of all places. How can calling a business number with this spam be legal?

I too live in Calgary. Someone I know but don't want to talk to from Calgary kept calling me and I never answered. After some time, he called me and the called ID said California. I answered to see if I would have a chance to yell and learned it was him. I asked if he was on vacation and he said he wasn't but he was using VOIP.

Could the called id be fooled by VOIP or could people use it to fake their location?

I can't believe we don't have the right to have our phone companies block calls for no additional cost.
