My cell number is new. I have only given it to a few companies when applying for jobs.

Got a call at 2:33pm on March 1, 2012 on my cell phone from this number with "No Name" listed as the caller. It rang twice and hung up, so it left no message.
It's obviously up to us to take these matter into our own hands (even though it shouldn't be) since the callers reported on these boards don't feel that they must follow the LAW! We all must be pro-active in combating this sort of thing. That means each and every one of us doing _ALL_ of these things:
1. a. DO get on the National Do Not Call list at:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt107.shtm
When a call comes in DO REPORT it to them!!!
1. b. DO get on your State's Do Not Call list. Find your State here:
http://www.the-dma.org/government/donotcalllists.shtml
***NOTE A:
If you are NOT on both of these registries; when you get this sort of call you have no leg to stand on when you complain!!! Yes, there are some nefarious parties who ignore the law! But as a whole, the DNCs have worked wonderfully for me ever since they first came out. I get very few junk calls on _two_ phones!
***NOTE B:
DO _NOT_ clutter these boards with your "pleas" for the makers of the calls to stop! They don't even see these boards and THEY DO _NOT_ CARE!!!!!!!!!!!! That's why they're in the 'business' they're in! To "plead" for them here to stop is DELIBERATE STUPIDITY!!!!!!!!!!!
2. DO REPORT instances here on 800notes and on other boards like it to alert the rest of us with what you know about these callers.
3. DO REPORT these calls to your phone company. If we all keep the phone companies switchboards totally busy about this stuff it may help calm it down a bit.
5. Block these calls from your phone if it has that capability. If it doesn't, the next time you buy a phone make double sure that it has the ability to block calls. If it doesn't, do NOT buy it!!!
