Got the same text message in response to a CL ad.  Down to the marine engineer crap.  Different number though but still from Global Voice.  The guy did try calling me in person though, but really bad signal.

I received a strange text from 646-926-2067 in reference to a Craigslist item I had listed.
I sensed that something was strange... now I know.

Go www.ic3.gov and take the time to file a complaint.  Just make up stuff for the parts you have no info on, namely the part requiring info on the person who tried to scam you.  This is a huge scam that has been running for some time now.  The more of us who file a complaint, the quicker something will be done.  The number is through the Global Voice network which seems to be based out of NYC.

More info!  It seems there is a Global Voice network based out of New York City which makes more sense as three of the other numbers this clown has tried to contact people through are also out of NYC and through Global Voice.  I strongly urge all of you to go to www.ic3.gov and file a complaint.  You won't have any info for some of it like the part about the person who scammed you, but just fill in the names that were used and stuff like I don't know street and badguy@ripoff.com.  The important part is that the Feds see the pattern and it's cumulative effect.  Nothing will be done about this until enough people complain.

This guy first contacted me in response to my Craigslist ad for a car I am selling.  Shot him down after reading several variations of the same story.  Oceanographer, Navy officer, etc.  This guy appears to have been running this scam for sometime now.  The number he is calling from is through the Global Voice network which appears to be a company out of Norway that allows you to download an ap to your I Phone that in turn allows you to make cheap international or long distance calls.  My recommendation is that the more of us who contact the FBI, as I have, the sooner this guy will be stopped.  Why should it be so hard to trace this number back to the person who has been doing this for over a year now?  Go the FBI internetcrime website, ic3.gov or call them at 1-800-251-7581.  Seriously, the more of us who do this, the sooner he will be caught.  There is tons of stuff on line about this person and the crap he has been pulling for some time now.  Enough is enough.

Got a message from this guy regarding my motorcycle for sale on craigslist...said he is military police, wanted to buy via paypal but wouldn't be available till a later date for inspection..said his internet access is limited and he doesn't have online banking...has a poor command of the english language as well...definately a scammer..glad I did a reverse phone look up and saw this!!  Thanks so much!!

Sent me a message regarding my motorcycle on craigslist here in los angeles county, ca.  Said he is a military policeman and wouldn't be available to inspect it till later but wanted to buy it via paypal!!  Definately a scammer....

Says he is in the military on a mission, no access to bank account but has access to paypal. Thanks for the info on this scammer.

I posted an add in Craig List, and the same day, I received a text message from a marine biologist who wants to buy my dinning room set, but he can only make payments through PayPal because he cannot access to his bank account.  Thanks to this website, I was able to confirm the credibility of the message.  Scam!!

**Thank you so much for this information!!  I thought it was weird when he contacted my bf to buy a bike we had for sale, sight unseen, through paypal, with no information from him.  He said he was from Texas, but in Taiwan right now.  He didn't say how or when he was going to pick up the bike.  So I googled his phone number just to check and wala!!!  This is what I found!  Jerk!!!

They said the same thing to my craigslist ad here in CO.  It's a scam.

several texts saying wants my car and parts,paypal is also a scam.got dozens of emails telling me to get a loan to send money via western union to pay shipping fee's.these people must think i'm dumb.

He text that he wanted to buy my car, but never asked one question about the car, told me to set up paypal, said work as marine engineer prevented him from looking at it.  STAY AWAY

these   are  one  of  th e BIGGEST  scams  going  on.......

most  people  will receive  these  scams   very  soon  after  posting a   ad  on  "  craigslist"   (  #  1 ) and  "  kijiji "........

always  easy  to  detect.........quickly.......won't  come  and  see  the  vehicle  or  item.....usually  says  "  buying"  for a  friend /  uncle  /  cousin.......usually  as  a  gift..........claims  to  be  on  some  boat  somewhere......usually  military  and  top  secret......(  but  mysteriously  has  all day  to  spend on the internet  trying  to  scam  people ).!!!!...................always  wants  to  pay  more  than the  item  is  worth , so  they  can  send  you a  fake   money  order  that  will bounce ,  or  they  want  YOU  paypal  info  to  take  over  your  paypal  account...........

- always  poor  command  of  english..........poor   structured    messages  such  as  " please  supply   last  offering  price "  


you  get  the idea..........most   of  these  scammers  are  nigeria  /  jamaica.......SEVERAL  new  ones  form the  UK    as well..
