i was sent a letter that stated i had won $750,000.00 in an Australian Lottery. They also sent a me a check for $4,950.00 issued from Jaxmetro credit Union. I was instructed not to cash this check until i spoke with a Mr.Lennox Cox at the above mentioned number and that i was required to send them a check for $2,980.00 to "pay a one time tax fee".
I have not called this individual, nor do i intend to, although there is indeed a jaxmetro credit union listed at the address indicated on the check and the check appears to be legitimate. Interesting!

Has anyone tryed to cash the check?

i have recived a letter stating i just won money through a lottery based out of australia but has an toronto address i won 4950 so they say i looked the address up and Mr. Cox Martel up so this loser is trying to scam me i called the number just to see if he'd answer it was a throw away phone with the number no longer assigned to anyone what can i do about this isn't there justice for this type of stuff

i called the attorney cecil mcconkie at 16476861535 and told him i looked the company up on internet and his name and company are all over internet with fraud and scam next to them he was like what what i dont understand. lol i hung up he was trying to reassure me nothing was a scam   do not fall for it he sounds like a nice guy and tries to talk you into it. even thebank says its a fake check.

do not try to cash the check it is fraud a fake just trying to get you to give them money

i recieved a letter from all-state century financial bureau attorney cecil mcconkie number 1-647-686-1535 says i have won 750,000 dollars from australian lottery  i recieved a check for 4950.00 dollars telling me to deposit and withdraw half for a tax payment lol  i was like hmm i called the guy he said yaya just call me back when you have the money. theni decided to look up on internet because i never heard of them before lol led me straight here.   do not fall for this i almost did plz be careful with these guys.

My parents received this same scam. The difference was that it came from All-State Century Financial Bureau. The attorney name was Cecil McConkie and listed a cell phone number of 647-686-1535.

got mail from 1st century financial bureau. also got a citibank check for $ 4,950.00 to help pay tax.  how can we stop this?  we know that someone will be victimized...this is so wrong.

I just got this letter through the mail. It cam with a cashiers check from one of our well known bank. has any one tried to cash these checks..Please advice

We recieved the same letter. I am an attorney so my best advice to you is take this check to your local District Attorneys office and advise them about the fraud. I have contacted the bank and apparently this is a person who has done business with this bank

I just recieved the same letter stating exactly the same thing...have the check for $4950.00 and the promise of $750,000.00 after the payment of $2980.00 is sent...if it were only that easy.....please don't fall for this ....

We received the same letter.  This is a scam.  You're right someone will fall for this.

I recevied this letter also and it is a scam.I called him to let him know that i looked up his name on the internet and it had SCAM ALL OVER.When i asked him about it he had nothing 2 say so i keeped asking him questions about it and he could say nothing.He just hung up.SO YA ITS FAKE DONT BELIVE IT.DONT LET HIM FOOOOOOOOL YOU.

We got this letter as well - from All-State Financial Bureau, Mr. Lennox Cox at 647-686-0929 - Same details as your letter.  Obviously a scam.  The letter has an Ontario address saying we won a lottery from South Australia and the check is issued from a bank Richmond, VA also stamped with St. Paul, MN.  Unbelievable.  And, sadly...you know someone will fall for it.  I've heard about this scam on the news before.

I received a letter telling my husband that he won a lottery from Australia. It says we have to call Mr. Lennox before trying to cash a check for 4,950. So we can pay 2,980. for them to be able to send money over the Canada border. They say they have been calling. We don't answer any number that we don't know.
