So i finally take a cab and spend 50$ Of cab to go see him and he was pretending that he was going to pay for my cab. Then i finally got here and see a Nice House with a Nice benz amg in front ... I go at the door then no answer. Was at 85 montgomery rd in Etobicoke Toronto . Then an other show up to in the same time ... Then an other one right after ... Then this Guy text me " you a hoe " " i see you from my window i dont even live there " ... Personally i know i dont do the greatest job ever but it was really disrespectfull to hâve waist my time and make me spend money for nothing. Then today i Just saw all those things reported to this number. I wish him that karma Will hit him back.

I had enough of this guy. I'm considering deeply filing a law suit to Western Union. Considering their policy is they need ID IN PERSON. And he has walked through their doors doing it many many times and if not it is ILLEGAL for him to do otherwise, which IS their policy. I hope I bleed them dry since they're letting him take away everyone's money and I have a good bet it's an inside job. And you can COUNT on the fact that they have surveillance and they are NOT PERMITTED TO DENY the police the right to view them either. Either way, western union has broken their policy. And if any of you want your money back, you can take them to court for it. LYING ON THEIR POLICY IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.

Just got the same email everyone else got as a reply to my kijiji ad for a house in Ottawa, Ontario.
the scammer replied to me using a NEW email address, marktolz13@yahoo.ca and now apparently it's "Mark and Kate" so beware. He's still using his western union pick up line...eye roll. I googled his email etc initially but couldn't find anything and actually almost fell for it! But we were iffy so emailed him directly asking him if he's a scammer (lol) ... he replied sounding offended (lol again|) with this email:

SAME SAME Scam today from Lethbridge.  He replied to my Wanted: Rental add on kijiji.  Thanks for this site, but sounded so possible that I can see why desperate folks would fall for him.  Can he be stopped?  I reported the scam in process and said I would help in any way and won't reply to the creep until I hear from the officials (Canadian Anti Fraud Center).  Reporting the scam was difficult on the site and I had to register and it probably took me 15 mins which I don't really have to spare.  Kijiji was even more difficult to report and I don't think my point really got through to that site.  I don't know how he can be stopped and he really hasn't commited a crime on me and thanks to this site he wont!

I wish I would have found this in time. I am a victim of this exact scam. We fell for it. We were desperate to find a place. Bla bla bla. You know how it goes. And now we are f$&(ked. Thousands we were scammed for. My question is how do we make this top of the list when someone googles Martin Henry. I had to do a lot of digging to find your post. Now we wait to see if anything can be done. I'm very doubtful.

ship guy has been trying to rent this house. 11902-87ave in Edmonton. his email is martinhenry13@yahoo.com. and goes by Martin and Kate. phone number 7805667335 I believe it was. scam! scam! scam! he wants a western union transfer to prove we have the funds. and so on.  he goes on to describe the house as above postings to the letter. stay away from this deal of your lifetime. he a landlord does not want to speak on the phone, or meet in person before any financial discussion comes up, stop! run away.

  Just was about sending you another message and your message popped up..I want you to know that we are more particular about who we rent to and not how much we rent our property out because getting a dream tenant is priceless so we have agreed to rent it for $1100 a month plus $1100 as long as you will be neat and serious.

We are respectable people and this is why we want people with self respect in our property..We can reserve it for the period you need it that is not a problem and we do not consider that as a criteria of who is serious or not but if you are able to get what we requested for then we can reserve it for you no problem.

My entire house is Apx 2400 Sq ft.....The Master bedroom is en-suite and the dimension is 15.09 x 13.75 the other can take 2 Queen size bed space that's just an example of how spacious my property is....Its fenced and we are looking at both long term and short but we prefer to rent to long term offers.

Also we noted before that we will be incurring back whatever charges used to make the transfer...This is nothing compare to what we have faced in the past and i well noted that the amount we are renting out our property is way lesser than the effort we put in it so getting the right person is most important to us and not the charges.

Either you take our property or not we are refunding back the charges on our meeting day..We have few offers but we choose just one that our instinct allows us to and that is why we are talking to you about our property and not that we lack people who are interested in doing the above.Renting out a property with higher amount is one thing and for the property to be in safe hands is another thing.

An example is a friend of mine who renting out his property to some people who do a lot of partying in the house and got to a day one of them left the cigarette on the sofa and burnt down his entire house so you see experience matters a lot..I would rather i lose the charges than lose my entire property so try to understand where we are coming from at the same time...I do not take peoples bank info as i do not need to know what you are worth before renting my property to you...This is disclosing too much info and i am not a party to this and never support landlords doing such.

My wife Kate also own a property in Edmonton where my in-laws are now and they know what it takes to keep a clean environment and never had any regret with them.

As for maintenance in my property i already stated that all bills are included in the rent as my wife Kate handles all this...Lawn/Environment are cleared by the house keeper which we pay for and you are responsible for your own interior but bills are handled by us...We do not believe in leaving this to the tenant as its our property eventually so we handle this situation.

Note that if i do not hear from you between Today/Tomorrow with the Western union transfer receipt then i might see your response as you are not serious..Remember i never asked you to make the transfer to me...You can make it to your friend or anyone you know and after the transfer is made i will confirm the validity of the transfer and once its confirmed and okay then we will email you back to ask whoever you made the transfer to go and collect your funds back and keep it and we can make arrangement to meeting at your most convenient time and we can now talk about payment.

I'll be at work so you can send me a text and i can reply easily to whatever question you wish to ask but i do not give my number out to be abused this is why i always prefer to see the Western Union Transfer receipt proof before answering any calls to proceed...Hope all is clear now and i look forward to your prompt response.

I also was just almost scammed by this guy. same exact scenario. I have just talked to my brother inlaw who is OPP.. I will be calling to report him to the fraud police.  Why isn't Western UNion doing anything about thier policies?

I just got one of his scam mails today.

Western Union money transfer at the Money Mart on 300E Taunton Road, Oshawa
Bell TV bill

Obvious mod on dates and name, but the account numbers are actual.  (stealing from the garbage)

Have contacted Bell and Money Mart.

If someone contact the RCMP in March as per above and we are now into november it would seem the RCMP are useless, and we need to take matters into our own hands.  We need to put together as much info as possible.  email addresses (katen701@yahoo.ca) so please if you have info, post it here.

You said "luckily we will be refunded our money".  Who is refunding it, Western Union?  My son just got scammed and he's in London.  When I called Western Union I was told he is out of luck.  I can't believe I didn't google this scum bag before my son did the transfer.  I had a very bad feeling about this and it came true.  See as you said you will be refunded I'm just wondering how and by who.

I received the same two emails from this guy and did some research of my own.  I actually phoned the named listed on 411 for the address this Rob Nelson gave me.  Gee....the real owner of the house didn't know his home was for rent.

The scam with the Western Union receipt is this: All you need to claim money from Western Union is the number on the receipt, the sender of the money and the amount of the money.  Seeing as we are supposed to send Rob the receipt that clearly indicates the number, and he knows the name of the person sending it and the exact amount of the money., He makes arrangements to meet you, but tells you NOT to pick up the Western Union money until AFTER he meets you.  That then gives him enough time to go HIS local Western Union and pick up YOUR money, then never shows up for the meeting!  Although he is scum and needs to be stopped, it is quite ingenious!  Please call the Anti-Fraud center in your Province.

I posted an ad on kijiji looking to find a 3 bedroom home to rent in my area. I live in the small town of Essex, Ontario. This guy sent me an email saying that he had owned a home and was renting it out. I replied asking for details. This is the e;mail I received:

I spoke with my wife and we have come to the conclusion that we will rent our property to you....The rent is $900 (First Payment)and the refundable deposit is $900..I want you to know that all Bills are inclusive in the rent so you are not paying any extra fees.We are hard working couples and we want you to know we are so keen about the rent but more concerned about who we rent our property to because we need need and serious people.

My property was in the hands of the agency for years and i realize that all they care about is there commission and not getting the right person in....i and my wife decided we will handle things our self henceforth.

We have been messed around by people who are not serious and we are not ready to deal with someone who isn't serious and clean.

I presently live 3 hours away from my property on ( 16 Delmer Crescent South, Kingsville, ON N0R 1B0)The house is presently available for rent and i can reserve it for you if you act fast.You'll have your own privacy without anyone interfering in what you do.

After reading this e:mail I questioned him on a variety of things that were red flags for sure. He replied to me with a 2nd email saying this:

After making the transfer send a scan copy or take a picture of the receipt with your phone as proof ,send it to my email and we can make arrangement for meeting at your most convenient time.

Western union charge due to reason and nature of who you are making the transfer to so you should never inform them that you made the transfer for proof but just tell them the person you made the transfer to is someone you know that's all as Tax and HST will be low if not they will charge you extra tax and as you know we are going to be responsible for the charges so kindly follow advise

I haven't rented a place personally yet so I didn't know what was normal. I'm in Calgary and "Rob and Kate" pulled the same "we're three hours away" thing... But an Ontario number... Oh we'll, I thought, I have friends with phones from other provinces. I feel so stupid, I actually western union'd money to my dad to show I have it, which cost me a hundred bucks. I was very careful to keep personal info out and just sent a picture of the amount sent though, and he insisted it was not complete enough, and wanted the confirmation pick up number. That unfortunately was my big red flag. I'm beyond livid. I'm embarrassed as I've been played the fool. We're expecting a baby and I'm in university so money is tight, but I was stupid to believe something so good could be true. Thanks again for confirming my suspicions

Also, they wanted to know which town we were looking for, even though our add clearly stated where we wished to move. PRICK

I was just a victim of this guys scam. I have reported it to the OPP, Western Union, and Kijiji but I am also going to report him to Yahoo as he seems to be using their email system to run these scams and I imagine they wouldn't appreciate that. On tuesday I will be contacting the Canadian Anti Fraud people as advised by the OPP because this is a nationally run scan. I will be giving them his phone number and the 3 email addresses that I have seen on here. So please if anyone has any further information about this guy please report it to them.  He is currently running his scam in ORILLIA, ON as that is where the money was wrongfully picked up from Western Union. Luckily we will be refunded our money although it has really put my husband, 2 year old daughter and myself in a hardship. SO again any information anyone can give to help stop this guy would be greatly appreciated.

This guy just tried to pull the same scam on a friend of mine in Kitchener yesterday, so he's still doing this!!. He figured him out before he sent any money though! I think the police should set up a sting!!! This guy has been getting away with it for toooo long now!!!
