| lawyer, rec'd this msg on work email 2011-02-04 21:23:54 Unknown |
Dear counsel,
I am contacting you in regards to a breach of business loan agreement with a client in your locality. I provided a loan to the company so that they can meet up with their management and operational obligation during the rough economic climate of last year. I provided the company with an emergency loan of $220,000 with a term of 12 months and fixed interest rate of 8.0%. The repayment period has since elapsed but the company has been unable to finalize the repayment of the loan and have only paid $70,000.00 till date. Let me know if this falls under the scope of your practice so thatI can provide you with more information on this matter.
Best Regards
Teri Hitoshi

We received the same email 2 days in a row containing the same info. everyone else is describing. This is spam.

Yup, a scam. Got an email from this clown wanting assistance with collecting on a $220,000.00 unpaid business loan. The stilted, non-specific language raised my suspicions; this post confirmed it. Thank you.

p.s. I frequently receive spam/phish/hack attempt messages, especially from foreign entities, USING ALL UPPER CASE LETTERING.

Received email in the quotations (see bottom of my post). This is not the typical email I receive for clients/referrals/prospects seeking real estate. Why do I think this is spam/phish/hacking attempt?
1) sent to undisclosed-recipients (blanket email);
2) addressed as "Sir/Madam" (blanket email);
3) found in spam folder;
4) clients typically give more info than "...urgently need four (4) bedroom house...";
5) no other contact info was provided.
Upon Googling the email address, I was led to this 800notes site due to the cross-referenced sender email address.
